Warford has injury issues. Schwenke has had snapping troubles and Cyprien they felt was not too much better than safeties they could get latter in the draft. (It was a deep position) We will see what happens.

I dunno Baramy they passed on a top 40
Player to get a top 100 Center. In a weak class always draft BPA, Frederick was a NEED PICK . I really don't buy Jacksonville was going to take him in round two or any other team. At 47 he would have been there. JMFO 8)

Fredericks was a reach in the first round, period... But it does come down to what blocking scheme the Cowpokes are going to run..to fully evaluate this pick. I believe they had been moving toward a more zone blocking scheme - well you can put the brakes on that.. Fredericks aint your guy.. He can move north to south - but if your looking for an OL that had quick feet that you want to have movement east to west in a more zone blocking scheme.. then this is a bad pick. If they were looking to move back to a more power attach - I can buy the pick a little better... Point being - find what blocking scheme the Cowboys will use this season and you can better evaluate this pick... I dont follow the cowboys - only to see if they lost in the box scores - hate em... hate the Owner... hate the city... Hate the Governor.. Hate the state - well - you get it...

    enjoy,

Before the combine many had Frederick in the top 50. Does the combine really drop you that far for an offensive lineman?

The top level talent was weak in the first round. After that it was a very deep draft with 2nd level talent, in which case you want to take a position of need. Frederick said Tennessee called him during the 29th pick. They later took Schwenke, so they were looking for a center. I think this is more likely than to think he was lying as someone said in an earlier post.

Okay, well, Floyd is a high-upside player who still would have been a great value pick at 18. Was it the Cowboys' biggest weakness? Absolutely not, but DE wasn't the biggest weakness on the Packers' roster, and they still got a player who promises to be pretty darn good in Datone Jones at 26 while still filling a moderate need. The Packers have one of the top front offices in the NFL, and moves like that show why.

Far be it from me to question one of the great defensive coordinators of our time, but is Kiffin speaking from his heart, or from motivation of PR? That's one thing you can't do - rely on player and coach interviews for reliable analysis. They're so often geared toward making their organization look good, and rightfully so. It also stops a person from being grounded in his own thoughts, relying on the idea that "if one person says it, it must be true."

If the Steelers traded down and picked Frederick in the first round, I'd bash the living hell out of it. If Jesus Christ himself descended looking for a center for his football team in Heaven and picked Frederick, I'd think he was drinking a little too much of that wine he made in his special winery.

This isn't a question of front office quality and my perception of any GM. It's just understandable that the Cowboys of all teams would make a move like this. ANY team who picked Frederick in the first is worthy of dire scorn.

I'm not assuming Frederick will be as good as the three I named at all; that's the entire basis of my argument.

Barret Jones is one of the smartest players from this class. He shouldn't have been a first round pick either, but he reminds me of Essex, who played all five positions on the offensive line for the Steelers. Jones should be a pretty good center, and Essex, when he filled in at center, wasn't terrible. Even if Frederick turns out just "pretty good," however, I and the litany of detractors the Cowboys have earned will have been proven right. "Being smart" isn't good enough. Frederick is no more intelligent than your standard NFL center. For being a first-round pick, a center is expected to have multiple All-Pro potential. Frederick doesn't have that.

It looks like its official, we have a little longer to get our boards together next year the draft is being held May 8-10

I hope our big board is just not something I whipped together at the last moment, had I had more time I would have figured out Earl Wolff has talent but his chalk board skills are not on any highlight reel. I had Nick Williams on my DL board, he never made it over to the 200 guys I listed.

A few guys I could not figure out, especially with teams looking for LB help. Why the following guys went undrafted, is puzzling, especially with teams drafting nobody's in round 7.

Keith Pough, Kevin Reddick, and Chase Thomas.

The STEALS of round 7 IMHO could end up being David Bass, Jordan Poyer, Reid Fragel, Zac Dysert, and Michael Williams.

To prove further to most anyone with common sense, the NFL draft tracker values each player, a rating basically from 50-100. This involves Mayock, Cosell, Davis, etc.., not a bunch of Jamokes. The lowest graded player in round one was Justin Pugh. Actually the 3 biggest reaches in the first round were all Offenisve Linemen. Pugh 73.0 Kyle Long 77.0 and Travis Frederick 78.7 The thing one could argue is that EJ Manuel graded out to 68.7. but the QB position has so much value I kind of have to weigh that factor into the equation.

The HIghest rated player taken in round 3, Larry Warford.

The Highest rated player taken in round 2, Johnathon Cyprien

The team drafting/reaching for players the most, The Patriots. The really ironic thing is that the two highest rated Rutgers players, Kasheem Greene and Jawain Jamison they passed on. The one Scarlet Knight I thought they got close to value on was Ryan Logan, although still on the board were Quinton Patton and Alex Oakafor, but a lot of teams passed on those players.

Belichick is smarter than the rest of the NFL world. Don't believe me? Just ask him!

or any Patriot fan, employee at ESPN, or knob-gobbling announcer like Phil Simpleton. Other than Tom Brady, can anyone name a HOF player he drafted. Chuck Noll drafted 4 in 5 rounds.

ONe other thing on Belichick, I am sick of the Pukes who are so quick to point out that Landry, Noll, Shula did not have free agents leaving the organization.

It's a cop plea, plain and simple. Belichick has had more good players cherry picked from other teams than anyone in the NFL. Without Harrison, Vrabel, Moss, Welker, where would he be? Since Scott Peoli left, he hasn't won schitt. period. Like Jerry Jackass Jones, he is a good coach or owner, but a terrible GM. I mean awful at drafting given the amount of picks and the postition of those picks. Somewhere somebody has the time to grade his picks, round by round since Peoli left, how many years they played, pro bowls, etc.., and I bet dollars to donuts he's a bottom feeder. Even his latest prize Gronkowski can't stay healthy, just had his 4th arm surgery, and another back surgery is needed, plus the ankle surgery. That is 6 surgeries in 18 months. Someone expain to me why teams passed on him in the draft, wasn't it a back injury. *NO*

THe board took a quality hit because CBS crashed, and we were all new to this site, it was a factor. I also had crap going on and did not crack the whip and my midnite ran dry. Others that comitted to the project were ghosts, MIA, or just did not have the time, or all of the above.

Yep. One superstar TE who has fallen under the weight of injury is Antonio Gates, and his play quality has dropped off recently. Gronk may be capable of huge numbers, but he isn't to be relied upon to stay healthy all the time. This was widely known before the 2010 draft.

  14. ESPN is doing their list of the top 20 coaches of all time.

    I already know who they'll name #1.

sb, if they put Billy Goat ahead of Lombardi, Landry, Noll, etc., they'll be laughed out of NFL circles.

D.J. Hayden Scar Tissue Problem Anticipated by Other Teams

    Published May 31, 2013
    By Charlie Campbell - @draftcampbell

The news that Oakland Raiders cornerback D.J. Hayden would miss offseason practices after surgery to remove scar tissue took the Raiders, media and some fans by surprise. Oakland had stated both prior to and after the 2013 NFL Draft that Hayden had been cleared medically and was 100 percent recovered from his torn inferior vena cava. For reference, that's the vein that returns blood to the heart from the lower portion of the body.

However, WalterFootball.com heard from other teams that their medical staffs were concerned about the scar tissue that remained after Hayden's initial surgery.

Once the news broke that Hayden would be out of commission following the scar tissue removal, sources reached out to say an "I told you so" about Hayden's complications. Other teams giving Hayden a second-round grade prior to the 2013 NFL Draft was partially based on his injury. Those medical staffs were less confident in Hayden's recovery than the Raiders were. The latest surgery means he is not expected to be ready until training camp starts in late July.

Part of the problem for Hayden and the Raiders is unprecedented nature of this return. No other player has had this injury, so there is no model for the team to use; there is no track record for Hayden to follow. Oakland general manager Reggie McKenzie took a big risk by making Hayden his initial first-round pick. Hopefully for Hayden, McKenzie and the Raiders, this was a minor setback in what will be healthy return to the football field.

proves one thing, Jerry Jones is CLUELESS

Cyprien with a third round grade, Banks a 6th rounder, and of course Frederick as a second rounder they took in round one. Oh and Matt Barkley they over-rated too.
