    Isn't that essentially a 4th round pick :/

I'm not 100% sure how it all works. PIT did sign as many free agents from other clubs as they lost. If one is awarded for Wallace, my thoughts are that a low 3rd is a bit high, and would likely fall to a 4th or 5th if one is awarded. Truth be told we won't know for sure until next March anyway. ;)

My thinking is that he doesn't have a history of DUI, so if he stays away from that over the next year and appears remorseful for it, it won't hurt him. Even if it does, we'll hopefully be picking toward the end of the first round anyway. Seferian-Jenkins will be the most exciting tight end to declare for the draft since Vernon Davis, and he'll be a great pick for anyone. He makes Tyler Eifert look pathetic.

  4. demolisher43 Franchise Player Steelers

Huh? The Steelers signed William Gay, Matt Spaeth, Bruce Gradkowski, and La'Rod Stephens-Howling. They lost Keenan Lewis, Mike Wallace, Willie Colon, James Harrison (who won't be counted for comp. pick consideration), Rashard Mendenhall, and Ryan Mundy to other teams. None of our signees' contracts even compare to the ones Wallace and Lewis received, so their statuses won't be affected. It stands to reason we'll get at least three good comp. picks.

The Stephens-Howling signing was vet minimum so it won't factor. The Gay and Spaeth contracts will knock out the Mundy and Mendenhall compensation. Gradkowski could impact the round we receiver for Lewis so I'll say 5th for him. Mike Wallace will net us the first comp pick at the end of the 3rd round assuming he is healthy in 2013.

I hate this ****ing thread. Not because it's not mine, but it is the most active discussion thread and I am constitutionally unable to participate on a regular basis on anything that has ****ing "draft" in its title.

    :(

Some college players to watch in 2013, these guys are considered the best at there position.

TEDDY BRIDGEWATER - QB Louisville, he is said to have the total package. 6-3 218 strong arm,accuracy(27Td's to 8Int's in 2012) and is very mobile. Likely would have been a 1st round pick this year but not eligible ( Sophomore).

    LACHE SEASTRUNK - RB Baylor 5- 10 210

MARQISE LEE - WR 6-195 USC

In 2011, as a true freshman, Lee earned a starting job at wide receiver across from his former high school teammate Robert Woods.[6] He finished the season with 73 receptions for 1,143 yards and 11 touchdowns; due to sanctions, the 10-2 Trojans were prohibited from playing in either the inaugural Pac-12 Conference Championship game or a post-season bowl game.[7] The combined receptions by Lee and Woods (184) and receiving yards (2,435) in 2011 were the most by a pair of Trojans in a season; Lee was awarded the 2011 Pac-12 Freshman Offensive Co-Player of the Year and named to the All-Pac-12 second team.[8]

Against Arizona in 2012, Lee set the Pac-12 Conference record for receiving yards in a game with 16 receptions for 345 yards and two touchdowns.[9] The following week, Lee had 251 return yards against Oregon, setting another conference record.[10] He finished the regular season with 112 catches for 1,680 yards and 14 touchdowns and was named the 2012 Pac-12 Conference offensive player of the year.[11] Lee won the 2012

COLT LYERLATE TE Oregon 6-5 238

has about the same size and skill set as Aaron Hernandez (6'2", 245 pounds at the combine). He's less of a traditional tight end and more of a movable chess piece who can line up on or off the line, in the backfield or split out wide. He's a phenomenal receiver and great with the ball in his hands after the catch.

TAYLOR LEWAN OT Michigan 6-8 310

Lewan is a mountain of a man. While he wasn't the best fit to pair with Denard Robinson, he shined with Devin Gardner under center in a more traditional NFL-style passing offense. He's a nasty run-blocker and a talented pass-blocker against an edge-rusher.
In this past year's Outback Bowl, Lewan battled through leg cramps as he faced off with one of college football's best players?Jadeveon Clowney. He kept the talented Gamecock in check and could've been a top pick in 2013.
    speaking of Clowney

JADEVEON CLOWNEY DE South Carolina 6-6 272

Clowney is the best defensive prospect we've seen since Julius Peppers. At 6'6", 272 pounds, Clowney looks like he could easily add a few dozen pounds. Instead, he's chiseled and built for speed off of the edge. He has the size and strength of a powerful strong-side rusher, yet the speed and athleticism of a prototypical edge-rusher.

ANTHONY STEEN OG Alabama 6-3 303

Steen was only a 3-star recruit when he arrived at Alabama; he's about to leave 'Bama as one "bad motha-shut yo' mouth." As the Alabama power run game looked for difficult yardage against some of the country's biggest and best defenses, they had no problem eschewing the holes created by linemen like Chance Warmack and D.J. Fluker, choosing to run right behind Steen.
On tape, Steen reminds me a lot of current Cincinnati Bengals lineman Kevin Zeitler. Talented in pass protection, he is far better in the run game and can drive linemen off the ball or climb to the second level.

LOUIS NIX DT Notre Dame 6-3 330

Nix headed to Notre Dame and turned down a bunch of top Florida schools in the process. While one single player can hardly turn the tide, it's fun to imagine what Florida or Florida State would look like with a 330-pound sack of anger in the middle of their defensive lines.
His teammate, Stephon Tuitt, collects a lot of the numbers. Manti Te'o certainly collected all of the headlines. Meanwhile, Nix continues to dominate at the point of attack and should be heavily coveted by both 3-4 and 4-3 defenses at the next level.

CJ MOSLEY OLB Alabama 6-2 232 ( Love to have this guy play ILB for the Steelers)

In 2012, Mosley was a first-team All-American and a finalist for the Butkus award as the nation's top linebacker. While Nick Saban has thrown tons of talented defenders into the NFL draft, Mosley may be the most physically gifted of any Crimson Tide prospect.
In space, Mosley is comfortable in coverage and can read keys well enough to track ball-carriers all over the field. Of course, it helps that he's a freak athlete. Off the edge, he's able to terrorize quarterbacks and can take on blockers, shedding or chucking them aside like rag dolls.

BRADLEY ROBY CB Ohio State 5-11 200

An All-American-caliber player as a sophomore, Roby is going to enter 2013 as a favorite for any award college football can throw at him. At 5'11", 200 pounds, he can guard bigger receivers with his length and athleticism. He can also run with them down the sideline or the seam.

In the Big Ten, Roby should have plenty of chances at poorly-thrown footballs and be able to solidify his stock as the nation's top defensive back.

    MoS,

Crextin is a good poster - a brown's fan - put a good poster. He just doesn't know what it feels like to pick #32 in the draft.. and I doubt that is going to happen none to soon...

Which is why, major injury notwithstanding that Mosley will be a top-10/12 pick, just like Kuechly was last year. Mosley is even more powerful. We're not getting him unless we give up an awful lot to trade up.

  18. I can tell next year is already going to be a strong draft compared to this year. You know for as bad as teams like Oakland and Jacksonville are, maybe not drafting a QB high (or in Jacksonville's case none at all) was smart because it puts them to get one next year in a very strong class. Bridgewater (whom I love as a prospect), Manziel, Boyd, Murray, McCarron as a start.

Also did anyone hear about the story behind Geno Smith's fall? Apparently he was tweeting and texting in his meetings and came off as a spoiled brat and him firing his agent shows it. Sounds like a bust written all over him with that attitude.

    :D

  19. BB has hated getting guys from that school ever since they drafted Walter Abercrombie.

  20. demolisher43 Franchise Player Steelers

Every year I suppress rage regarding analysts and their QBs, most of the time regarding prospects who don't deserve the hype. Jimmy Clausen, Blaine Gabbert (who I called overrated and bust-worthy before the draft), Jake Locker, etc. have all been media poster boys lately.

Does NFL programming really think NFL fans are drooling idiots who think teams are composed of 53 QBs and who only own QB jerseys? The only two NFL teams which are all about their respective QBs are the Patriots and Saints, go figure. Speaking of which, they can't go a single televised draft without mentioning the 199th pick of the 2000 draft. Yeah, great pick for ONE TEAM.

There wasn't any hooplah at all over Jonathan Cooper and Chance Warmack in this draft (Warmack in particular will prove to be a man among boys as an NFL guard). Nary a peep sounded over Dion Jordan or Ezekiel Ansah. Star Lotulelei was shoved to the side. Oh, but hold the phone!!! Geno fraking Smith drank a smoothie at a local cafe! And he brought along his left tackles and Tavon Austin!

The only justice about this year is that the mocking of Smith first overall wasn't prevalent. That may have only been because Andy Reid stupidly traded for Alex Smith, but I guess the universe dictates that there has to be at least one major goat during every NFL offseason.

I can't stand most NFL media. I don't have the TV on during the draft. Rich Eisen, Mel Kiper, Todd McShay, Jon Gruden et. all can go to hell. Adam Schefter can follow them.

I guess having consistently decent NFL draft programming is too large a request to consider.
