I don't remember anyone calling him a reach. 2k and I loved him and we're amateurs.

The reach was A.J. Jenkins last year with a handful of really good players available.

EDIT: Even SI called him "a surprise first round pick".

 

Looks like Miami just traded up into the Rams pick at 149.

 

I'm with Beach on this one. Carpenter was mid second at best, to 30 or 31 teams, but not Seattle. They reached. Heck, even his coach, Saban looked shocked when that pick happened. Best evidence right there.
