    Ace Parker?

  2. AxeMurderer Legend Cowboys

    Another good guess, but Parker's A's (1937-1938) didn't win a world series.

OK...got to be Ernie Nevers. Im read he gave up some HR's against Babe Ruth in 1927. So im hoping he actually piched in the 27 WS...and lost to the Yankees.

  4. AxeMurderer Legend Cowboys

If Ernie Nevers pitched against the Yankees in 1927, then he couldn't have gone to the World Series in '27 - no inter-league play back then. :)

  5. Willie Head Coach Manager News & Notes Vikings

I used to drink a lot of beer at the games back in 27. I forgot about that...or imagined it.

red badgro-won a title on the 27 yankees and played for the ny giants-football.

  7. AxeMurderer Legend Cowboys

Red Badgro IS a member of the PRo Football Hall of Fame...but he never won a world series title. The 1927 New York Yankees he played for were the football Yankees, not the Bronx Bombers. His baseball team was the st. Louis Browns.

That was prohibition bathtub gin, right...? *DRINK*

  9. AxeMurderer Legend Cowboys

A final hint for #2: he's in the Pro Football Hall of Fame as a coach.

    Greasy Neale?

  11. AxeMurderer Legend Cowboys

    Greasy Neale is CORRECT!

College Football Hall of Fame, Pro Football Hall of Fame (as a coach), and was a starting outfielder for the 1919 Cincinnati Reds, who won the world's series over the "Black Sox."

Good question Axe. I was going to say him earlier but figured I'd try a couple other guys before him......

I have no idea what Fish is doing? George Halas what, Fish?!?

  15. AxeMurderer Legend Cowboys

Think Fish missed that the correct answer was already given...

thanks axe i did. igloo is all jumpy after MAF gave up the tying goal with seconds to go to lose in ot.

Fleury is playing like his "usual playoff-self"!!!! Unbelievable! How does he let the game winner in from just over the blue line? Let alone going out of the net with 25-30 sec. to go in the game? Plays good in the regular season games but can't play high school hockey in the playoffs. Terrible decision to leave the goal and a high schooler could of stopped the OT winner.....Every year it's the same thing no matter who's on the team. Another amazing stat is Crosby and Malkin haven't scored a goal yet. Crosby plays like Fleury in the playoffs. Just have a guy shadow him and he can't do a thing. Dubinsky shadows him and ties the game up on top of it. The players on this team never cease to amaze me. Year in and year out it's same old, same old......

Sounds like my boy Tony Romo - when the big game's on the line, he seems to wilt.

  19. Catfish Guest

axe-you're a romo guy? as much as i hate the cowboys, at least troy aikman got the job done. haha

and igloo -- at least you have a cup or 3 in your lifetime or pens watching lifetime. i have 0. i started watching the flyers in 83. cup losses in 84, 87, 97, and 2010 hurt every damn year. the pens have brought you some titles. the flyers have brought me GRIEF!

  20. igloofn68 Guest

Jerry Jones came out and gave Romo a big contract and said the losses weren't his fault.....No offense Axe but he also said when asked that if he had a GM, would he have fired them? And he said, yes! And added he can't fire himself......
I saw all 3 Cups Fish. And the one they lost to Detroit before they beat them the next year....That loss last night was all on MAF.....
