SNF: Anyone watching this crap?

So the part about Bearman not seeing an improvement over Mitch becoming available is also right. Why? Because good teams don't let their solid quarterbacks walk out the door. Phillip Rivers (if he continues playing) and Dak Prescott aren't going anywhere, but their contracts are up. We agree to disagree, but to me, it alarmed me when Minnesota decided their 1st round drafted QB was not worth a 2nd contract so Kirk Cousins was worth 87 million guaranteed. It alarmed me that Bridgewater was cleared to return to football activities in October, 2017, but Minnesota couldn't be bothered to pick up his 5th year rookie option, hence signing with the Jets.

So it wasn't the excuse of, "the Vikings didn't want him because of the injury and its unknowns." The Vikings just didn't want him. And he wasn't exactly a hot commodity because the Jets went right to Darnold and didn't look back. That may not matter to you, but to me, 2 professional football teams just kind of discarding a quarterback aside like that tells me they don't need the guy. If he's so good, why isn't he a fulltime starter? League's full of bums right now......

It was on radio here locally that Alex Smith had 17 surgeries, because how often do you hear about someone with a broken leg requiring 17 surgeries? He's a professional football player. His injury and especially lucrative contract weren't secrets then or now, because everybody was talking about the crazy guaranteed money Smith got before other guys like Cousins started getting big money. What baffles me is that you're not the only bears fan who thinks he's an available free agent, let alone think a guy who's prognosis which presently is 'no timetable to begin physical activity' but will have a 'clean bill of health' by August. Many believe he's not going to play again.

I think on any given day, Teddy can outplay Mitch. I also think Mitch can outplay Teddy on any given day too. But I don't feel the need to invest 3+ years and a ton of money (25 million per your post #35) for a guy who's never played an Andy Reid system. I'd rather trade a lower pick, like a 6 or 7th rounder and foot the full bill of 22 million on Nick Foles, because at least with his deal--if he sucks after 1 year, you can cut Nick Foles without the extended cap crunch. The Jags paid him 22 of his 50 million guaranteed. His salary next year is the same amount. You cant do that if Teddy is shitting the bed by week 6 of year 1........

Foles, Mitch, and a draft pick is fine by me. I get it, you like Teddy, but hes not a fit and you should know better than to be swayed by bumslaying the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Cowboys, and Bears in his 5 week stretch of 'meh.'

Nice try but that post was from 2018. I accept your apology.

But it really has nothing to do with our argument here. Teddy is the highest paid backup in the league for a reason. And it’s not because he isn’t viewed as good enough to start. This past offseason the Dolphins offers Bridgwater a chance to come in and compete for the staring job. The money wasn’t great but it was more than the deal he signed to stay with the Saints as a backup. Teddy decided to choose the better situation and it paid off. His 5 starts and Wins made him a lot of money this coming offseason. Whether he will be worth it has yet to play out. I am not the only one who thinks he has a bright future and your not the only one who thinks he sucks. You are one of the only people I know who find the entire situation surprising. Like Bridgewater was some dead beat before his injury and only popped up on people’s radar after his 5 starts this season.

First off, I guess you weren’t completely full of shit. I do apologize for missing that you said they should bring in a “Bridgewater-type at least for competition “ one time before Brees got hurt.

Pretty far from you changing your avatar to TB and thinking the Saints should give him $26.7M. You seem to have gotten rather excited about him between then and October 29th of this year for some reason...?

Nevertheless... as you said, you like him, I don’t.

You want to go after the guy with a career 38/25 INT/TD ratio, who wasn’t very mobile before he had a devastating knee injury, and was entering bust territory before he suffered it.

I would rather fix the O line and running game first and foremost, stay the course for another year with what we have, and draft a QB, and possibly bring in some of the aforementioned.

Have to admit, I was quietly hoping Haskins would look good which could create potential for a cheap trade for Alex Smith. A cerebral yet mobile QB is what I see Nagy's Offense needing, besides divine intervention of course.

But didn't know about all those surgeries that pat highlighted. He sounds so far off playing it basically rules him out at this point.
