Giants pull one out in the 10th on Belts 1 out single. Vogalsong on the bump tonite as they try to put a winning streak together.
Giants lose 9-8 as the Serg gives up the game winner in the top of the ninth. Petit on the bump tonite. He's 3-0 with a 2.05 ERA.
Thats not too shaby. Who's he? Did he come up through the farm system? Those are pretty good numbers. I give you credit for that. Not too many people would support or keep up with the things that you do, considering the down year the Giants are having. I do stop by, just about every day and read what you write, just dont always comment. Good luck and keep up the good work. Just thought i would tell you that back in around 1972, or so. I saw the Reds and Giants play at the old Riverfront stadium in Cincinnati. Got pictures in an old family photo album of a bench clearing brawl. I believe it was an old-fashioned doubleheader too. The good ol' days.
He came from Arizona, before that Florida. He hasn't been to successful until this year. The year was bound to happen. Injuries and the fact I think Bochy let's Lincecum and Cain throw too many pitches. 110 pitches by the sixth usually means struggling and release point problems. They'll come back next year and contend. Those Reds teams were awesome.
They sure were. 'The Big Red Machine'...when I walked into the stadium as a young kid who collected baseball cards, my jaw dropped to the ground. I saw Pete Rose, Johnny Bench, Joe Morgan, Dave Concepcion, and the likes. I cant remember to much about the Giants because of a lack of coverage in those days...they must have had some star power too. Im getting old, man. I even saw Reggie Jackson in Cleveland one Sunday afternoon. Going to the Tigers games against the Oakland A's had a lot of hall of famers also. Saw alot of games in Cincy, Detroit, and Cleveland growing up. Once in a while I go up to Comerica and catch the Tigers...saw Verlander flert with a no no against the Rangers. Cool stuff.
I cant remember to much about the Giants because of a lack of coverage in those days...they must have had some star power too It was the end of the Mays and McCovey years. Mays went to New York to finish out with the Mets and Stretch went to San Diego for a few years before returning to finish with the Giants. They pretty much didn't have any big name stars other then a few here and there. Montefusco, Krukow and a few others, they mostly signed players from other teams. I remember when Joe Morgan came to town. They stepped up a beat or two but nothing real serious. And with a name like Willthethrill I'd peg you for a Will Clark fan.
Not really, he was a fun ball player to watch though, and he did have something to do with it. Back in the day I played in rock bands and I would always bitch at practice that they put the Tigers game on the TV while we were practicing. It got quiet for a second and they announced Will the Thrill was coming up to the plate to bat and everybody laughed and started calling me 'Will the thrill' (cause my name is Will). Friends, family, even the pastor of my church call me that from time to time. It just kinda stuck.
Giants head down to Chavez Ravine for a 4 game set with the Dodgers. One of the biggest rivalries in baseball in my opinion. It never matters where these two teams are in the standings, it's all out to beat the other. Cain on the bump tonite as the Giants try to put together a win streak.
Giants lose 3-2 last night. Tonite could be a classic as MadBum takes the bump for the Giants against Kershaw. Go Giants!!!
Giants get a weeks worth of hits and runs with 22 and 19. Belt goes 5 for 6 with 6 RBIs and Pence hits a GS and has 7 RBIs. Hopefully this doesn't mean they'll get shutout the next 5 games.
Giants start a 3 game series in New York tonite against the Mets. Petit on the bump as the Giants look to run their winning streak to 4.
The Giants have won 4 in a row. 4 IN A ROW!!!! Tonite they send Cain to the bump in hopes of getting another and putting a strong finish on the year.
Giants give up 4 in the bottom of the ninth to lose 5-4. MadBum on the bump today in the finale. Up next, a 3 game set against the Yankees in the Bronx.
Giants open up a 3 game set at home against the division champion Dodgers. Cain on the bump. Not much to play for right now other then rivalry bragging rights. Also a shout out to the Pirates. First playoff appearance since 1992. Congrats.
