Ravens offseason and draft thread

  1. Eric Ebron signed a 2 yr deal with the Colts. The TE pool is running dry for pass catchers. Julius Thomas and Luke Wilson are two remaining "big" names. BR.com floated the possibility of a reunion with Watson.

  6. Like Cam. Can never have too many 6-3 receivers.

He had a decent sophomore year but has he recovered from the injury?

  8. Willie Snead was visiting this afternoon. I love me some Snead! Plays with spirit! He had a down year and could come on the cheap but he was a reliable on the outside and in the slot for Brees.

Willie would be a nice addition. Love his work ethic

  10. Ben Watson working out with the Chiefs. If signed he could count as a 3rd/4th rd comp for 2019.

  12. Wallace signs 1 yr deal worth $2.5M. Sorry to see him go - especially for that price.

You guys have been overestimating the comp pick rounds by like 2 rounds at least in all you've said here already.

Guys signing vet minimum deals are only netting 6th or 7th rd picks

Mike Wallace leaving means the Ryan Jensen departure actually counts and doesn't have an offsetting player. Jensen, at his price and the fact he'll play damn near all snaps (o-lineman usually do) should net a 3rd or 4th. I doubt Ben Watson gets a contract that would get us anything tbh, but at least it'll give the team some leeway to not worry about offsetting Jensen.

In terms of the WRs, I hope the Ravens can get Meredith for a cheap deal over both Hurns and Snead. His injury was more severe than what Hurns has gone through, but when was the last time Hurns wasn't on an injury report? I'm personally just not big on Snead. The Bears just paid about 7-8M a year for Allen Robinson, Trey Burton, and Taylor Gabriel. They also still have some hope, I think, in Kevin White. I wonder if they'd even match a 3-4M a year deal for Meredith. With what they are paying the other three, you have to get them the ball so 3-4M might be too much for a #4.

I saw a report that said the Raiders are going to release TE Clive Walford. I remember liking him as a pass catching tight end and thinking he might be a good addition He was cut so he won't mess up comp pick formulas. I think he is a decent young prospect that we could use on our depleted TE corp.

    Clive Walford
    Combine 2015
    Combine
    Stats:

    • 20 Yard Shuttle4.57 secs
    • Bench Press20.0 reps
    • Vertical Jump35.0 inches
    • Broad Jump120.0 inches
    • 40 Yard Dash4.79 Secs
    Strengths
Becoming a very reliable blocker. Is tough enough and physical enough to be a play-side blocking tight end on zone runs. Bends and explodes from hips into his targets and sustains with a good base. Will drive smaller linebackers off the line of scrimmage in run game. Has lined up in-line, slot and as an H-back. Has the physical build and enough quickness to threaten the seam. Turns head and locates the ball quickly. Can make contested catches. Has NFL run-after-catch ability. At home in a physical matchup. Has long arms and big hands.

    Weaknesses
Focus drops were a big problem for Walford from 2012-2013 (10 drops). Needs work in sinking hips into breaks. Will round off out routes and allow defender angles to break on the pass. Scouts say his play speed has been inconsistent and there are questions about what his timed speed will be. Not the same factor in run blocking when asked to play move-tight-end role.

  20. Ben Watson rejoining the Saints. Probably the best way to end his career.
