Jesus fucking Christ Poles was a joke this press conference… don’t know which doozie I liked better. When Dan Weiderer began asking a question, something along the lines of: ‘With Caleb Williams' rookie year full of turmoil and stress…’ Poles cuts him off and says: ‘Can you explain what you mean by turmoil and stress,’ Weiderer or whomever the press person says ‘well you fired his OC after a handful of games and then his HC a couple weeks later.’ Or…and I think this one takes the cake…Poles talking about his lack of addressing the OL: “It’s obvious you have to build the team from the inside out, you have to look at BPA in the draft and in free agency; and just because you want to address that in the draft, it doesn’t mean there are answers at those positions you want to take.” This fucking clown got extended (and wouldn’t answer when asked), but what a fucking joke. You’re telling me in 3 fucking years you couldn’t find an OL to draft besides Wright and a project from Yale—and the one OT he took in the 6th round his first year from San Diego state that the rams immediately signed when the bears tried to put him on the PS. Velus is BPA? The Aussie punter? This guy has no fucking clue.
No faith in this group to get it right. Georgie of course is there with his “not meddling in football decisions” approach. https://twitter.com/CourtneyRCronin/status/1876662748127371394
Oh and of course we can’t forget the politically correct head of “culture” and HR. Trust her to know a good HC when she sees it.
The line about OL is a straight up lie. It would be very easy to research the exact names of people who would've been great OL selections at the various Bears picks and in every draft. Poles is a lying little hoe. And yes, i would bet my house he got extended cos that is the classic move from this fuckhead team at this time. Please tell me you dont mean that fucking diversity hire Tanesha Wade. I fucking called that weeks ago, i name checked this bint. If you were to try to sum up how this team sucks in one person.....well you'd chose George, but if you werent allowed him you could go with the HR box ticking hire who's involved with making football decisions. Such a fucking joke ass team.
I am telling you right now i will be amazed if Ben Johnson is the hire. Staggered. For one thing he would make much too much sense for these idiots, but more than that, why the actual fuck would he want to come here? In a way it would actually make me question his competence. I dont think the Bears org realise just how close we are to reaching the time when people start name checking them and say nope. They are a shitshow and i aint going near that. In the quiet months of offseason i fully expect to hear stories of HC candidate(s) who turned down the job cos its the Bears. And not just coaches, i really believe we're fast approaching the time when players start saying no fucking way. These guys get 1 fucking shot at a career, thats it, why in the actual F should they risk it on the Bears??? I think of the look on Fields face the moment the Bears drafted him. I think of the widespread reports that Caleb and his team had real concerns about him going to the Bears. Its growing. Future crops of NFL players are watching all of this. Maybe im being melodramatic, we'll see i guess. But one thing that shouldn't really be a debate imo, the opinion the Bears have of themselves and the opinion everyone else has are on increasingly divergent paths.
Shades of Pace all over, does that mean we trade a few firsts for a superstar DE to go "all in" and get bounced in the WC next year? We get our repeat 2018? Why is the GMs contract such a big fucking secret? If you're extending him for purpose of letting hires know he's not a lame duck (the only reason to do this), then it should be public no? So we might have extended Poles AND we lose his only moderating force in Ian Cunningham potentially? LMAO. I am very much on the train that Cunningham is the only thing keeping Poles from being an absolute laughing stock.
I don't know if she's still around but was referring to this person (EVP of People and Culture & Chief Human Resources Officer) who Cronin confirmed would be involved in the interviews: Liz Geist I'm at the point where even if they hire Johnson I'm going to be worried because it gets Georgie's seal of approval. We've never had a good coach (Lovie the closest thing) in my lifetime so I'll believe it only after they've proven themselves with results.
Just another daily reality check-in, where the Bears may have decided to EXTEND a failing general manager so that their new head coach feels like there's some security, even though the organization has repeated this absolute dumbfuckery disaster three times consecutively. It boggles the mind that this is reality - that any human brain can look at this scenario and believe that doing things this way is correct. But here we are. How fucked in the head is Georgie Boy? I know he's the final voice, for some nepotistic reason, but how can his addled brain think this is the way to do things? Raise your kids better, people. For fuck's sake. Virginia, how did you raise this dumb little fucker so poorly?
Georgie talking to the media today in a hallway. Spent 20 seconds lecturing them on how to do their jobs, to start with, and then spent the rest of the time trying to tell the difference between his ass and a hole in the ground. Importantly, he said that "no coach has said in an interview that he wouldn't come here because he and the general manager were on a different timeline", seeming to say that Poles has not been extended at this point. But, importantly, trusting a word Georgie says is about as smart as laying in the middle of a busy roadway. Also, of course no fucking coach would say that in an interview with you and the general manager sitting right the fuck there, you dumb fucking prick. Anyway, lots of shit to just wonder, "How can someone this dumb be in charge of something this large?", but we wonder that about all sorts of things in this world every gotdamn day. Fuck's sake.
Hey I just got a call from some chick at Halas hall saying the Bears would like to interview me for the HC job! I’m kidding but holy fuck what a list. It screams I have no fucking clue what I’m doing. But hey it beats choosing between 2 guys Ernie Accorsi hand picked. I am pretty sure the Bears fucked this up already by keeping Poles but there is hope he lucks into a good hire who has nuts to tell Poles who to sign/draft and we all live happily ever after!!!!!
I know, now I have to be grateful to the fucking Cowboys of all teams. Only the Bears can put their fans in this position. At least the playoffs will be fun to watch, the Packers should get their shit kicked in by the Eagles even without Hurts.
And the Jets interviewed Rex Ryan?? LMAO, holy shit are there some dumbasses in this league. Why don't we just call up Lovie too.
Oh definitely. We know for a fact that it was Cunningham who stopped Poles from trading UP to get Odunze. Thats a matter of public record, Poles himself blurted it out in a presser. Now, Odunze has potential, but that rookie year did not scream top10 draft pick. Athletically Odunze looks pedestrian compared to say Nabers and statistically there were rookies drafted later who were far more productive. You could make the case against that pick very easily, and Pat has, now imagine trading UP for that guy!! Now sit and wonder at all the other stuff thats taken place behind closed doors that hasn't been blurted out in the presser that we dont know about. There will be a ton of it. "Stupid team gets out stupided by even stupider team".
At the time I too was ready to jump through my screen and strangle that fucking buffoon masquerading as the GM of an NFL football team, for the reason you just said--that's a straight up lie. Then I forgot, this is the bears. They constantly find ways to shoot themselves in the foot and snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. How many OL coming to the NFL that you and I (and anybody watching a college game with their own two eyes) have seen, it begs the question just HOW much do the bears limit themselves? I'm brought back to a guy I wanted a couple years ago, and no this isn't a lamentation or a whining fest that we didn't get my guy Skoronski, nor is this a dig at Rob--just the logic behind Rob's argument at the time--because it's the same argument by Poles/belief of the bears front office--but how many candidates--like Skoronski, have the bears crossed off their list because of something retarded, like "short arms?" Last year I was high on trading down from 9 and picking up a 2nd and taking Washington RT Roger Rosengarten, who had a highly productive rookie year in Baltimore. So when you say that "its very easy to research the names who would've been great," he's another example, but I have to wonder with Poles' archaic, outdated, extremely mental-midget approach if he believes that when Rosengarten was rocking 32.9 inch arms. And what makes his incompetent approach all the more infuriating, is that Wright and Braxton Leno have prototypical arms, each 35 inches, and neither of them are very good. We have hope for Wright, but right now, it's looking to me like he's just a guy as opposed to a difference maker, which you should have expectations on when you draft him at 10 overall. And that's not terrible, people who are "just guys" can look incredible when playing next to competent OL. Lucas Patrick looks miles different in New Orleans compared to here, but when you see he's right next to one of the better RGs in the league, Cesar Ruiz--seeing him look like night/day here vs NO, its astonishing. Even getting 1 good OL can elevate 'just a guy.' Why I'm feeling nauseous, is because Poles saying he will utilize FA and the draft--well, we know he likes to ignore good players because of stupid metrics in the draft, and while 3 big names are set to be FA that are OL in Trey Smith, Ronnie Stanley, and Ryan Kelly (C from the colts)--good teams find ways to keep their good players, especially their OL. The imbeciles thinking FA is where you can get your difference makers are in for a surprise by the end of next month/whenever the franchise tag window ends. It was the first time I thought LaFleur was doing his best Nagy impression. Think it was you who pointed out in the game thread that the Packers were gashing the bears between the guards with Jacobs and their back up, then just stopped running and put the game on Malik Willis' arm. If the Packers win, they go to Tampa or LA--a destination I'd rather be an away team at compared to Philly, in Philly. I look forward to Vic Fangio confusing the shit out of Jordan Love.
