That's what I'm talking about. Ride the hate wave, you've earned it.

thank you, I'm still in the raw phase of accepting the 14/15Broonz. i like lumping in the Phil trade too, even though I've been a proponent from the hop.

Who wouldn't? Considering 4th and 7th rounders never make it to the NHL.......

that was facetious and just emblematic of my humor. get over it!!!

  7. hockeybob Hall-of-Fame Blackhawks

Hey, that's not fair to 4ths and 7ths, not every team drafts like Pittsburgh.

  8. hockeybob Hall-of-Fame Blackhawks

Wait, I take that back. Tyler Kennedy snorts in your general direction.

Or the Oilers, right? Btw, what am I supposed to get over? It's not my fault you have emblematic humor.....

Jealousy will get you nowhere Bob.....

lol, sadly this is true. Many a year I was hoping for a Tyler Kennedy to emerge from so many of the failed drafts the last quarter century.

The draft lottery format is pretty strange. At first look it appears downright whacky. There will be a total of 14 balls in the hopper. There will not be team logos on them; they'll be numbered 1-14. Four balls are going to be drawn, (the sequence that they're drawn won't matter, i.e., 1, 2, 3, 4 is the same as 4, 3, 2, 1, etc.)

Each team will be assigned combinations, there are 1,000* combinations, so BUF gets 200, (20%), AZ gets 135... BOS will have 10.

I'm going to spare the details because there's a lot of math to get from 14 balls to 1,000 possible outcomes. (* Actually the math shakes out to 1,001 permutations, and if that 1:1,001 happens to come out they'll just have a do-over.)

If they wanted to just have a weighted number of balls with team logos, they'd need 1,000 in the hopper - the fractional odds causes more balls. The concern is that it would be much harder to verify the accuracy of 1,000 balls compared to 14. It would be too easy for an unscrupulous homer to throw in extra balls for their team.

Since the lottery is Buffalo's equivalent to the SC I thought I should share this.

Only way to do it or there are too many balls.

    John Gillies signed w/ Calgary.

    Wasn't he a JR?
Why would they want him now?

  18. mattymcgee55 Legend Patriots Bruins

Id think that want to make sure they don't lose him as a UFA next year.
he's ready for the jump, probably was last year even. I'm assuming that he'll need a year or two of AHL seasoning so they might as well get it started.

That's kind of the problem I'm seeing. They don't have enough minutes to go around unless they are extremely fung-fu-crazy about him.

If it was just a matter of flight risk, then I get it. I just don't see that as a problem this for him this year. No gm worth signing with is going to put him on a active roster without a single pro game and CGY's system is pretty loaded.

I should have added that I believe CGY will add or keep a vet backup in the system or on the roster to stay in playoff contention too.
