I think we are probably at least average at C now with the depth they added this offseason. One of those turds will be serviceable. I'm all for getting Alt tonight if he's there. I sadly think Poles is good with Jones though.
You need a veteran center to play in front of Williams. I don't think they've got a guy to be confident in, but I also know that the draft isn't going to fix that. And yes, I'm certain that Poles is happy with Jones at LT. Which is crazy, to me. Draft a premier player at C and let him be backup for the C / G spots. Two birds with one stone. Or take Alt / Fashanu if they're there at #9. Seems like a pretty straightforward plan. Protect your #1 pick.
I think Fashanu will likely drop due to recent injury concerns, but if the Bears trade down he could be a target. I don't think Alt will make it past the Titans at #7. On the other hand, Jerry Angelo would be trading up to go get Fashanu at #6 leaving Alt on the board. Interesting is the speculation of the possibility that the top 10 picks could go to the offensive side of the ball. I say the Falcons at #8 will draft defense if they stay, but I think they'll move down as they just have too many needs.
I haven't been following things closely, so if he's developed injury concerns then I understand. But the tape I watched on him from last year told me he was the OT to pick, so hopefully he stays healthy and stays out of the NFC North (outside Chicago).
Never had a rookie QB in a better situation. Never had a more talented rookie QB. Speaking only for myself, its kinda sad that there isnt a hell of a lot more excitement about whats going to happen. My whole life, the most talented QB this team has ever drafted, by a margin. 20years ago i would've been drunk as a fucking monkey, doing cartwheels around my house right about now. Hell, even 10 probably. This team has done a fine job of grinding me down. Poles already tried this bargain basement bullshit at C with Lucas Patrick and it blew up in all our faces. I'll believe one of these turds can stick when i see it.
I do think fans are pretty excited. At least as excited as we've been since the Cutler trade. If we got a LT at 9 or later in the first round in a trade down, I'm predicting playoffs.
Pretty excited? The best chance at a generational QB that this team has ever had. Personally i think people, me as much as anyone, should be a lot more than just pretty excited. Which is the point i was making.
Maybe cuz Ev is right. Or maybe because we've known this since the Fields trade so we've already accepted it was happening.
