And you, Gidion, need to develop reading comprehension skills. I didn't say the Braves were garbage -- I said the division was garbage. It's the only division with just one team over .500. It's division leader would be no better than 4th in the NL Central, 3rd in the AL East, and 2nd in the AL West; and after a 13-2 start, the Braves have gone 44-43. It's only one of two divisions in baseball with a team playing sub-.400 ball. You want to think the NL East is a good division, show me where.
Went back to the original posts on this -- my apologies, Gidion, I DID imply the Braves were garbage. They're not garbage, but they're not very good, either. They're a little above-average (less so now with Hudson out), and the fact they have the "biggest lead" in baseball means nothing since everyone else in the East is below .500.
phils get swept. tigers are too good and should be running away with the al central. not sure why they arent. and verdy got lit up the other night. phils stink though so enjoy the easy 3 wins.
For the first time in franchise history, the Phillies have broken the bank for an international free agent. Jon Heyman and Danny Knobler of CBSSports.com have confirmed Philadelphia has signed Cuban right-hander Miguel Alfredo Gonzalez to a six-year contract worth more than $50 million. The deal could approach $60 million, which would be a record for an international player.
rumors are the phillies will resign utley to a 2-3 yr deal worth over $25 mil. this is why amaro should be shown the door! utley is not the franchise anymore!
No, he's not -- but I think Utley's a guy we need to keep around. He's basically the only one on this roster who knows how to work a pitch count. Beyond that, if it's a 3-year deal, $8 mil/year isn't really that bad.
That's less than they're paying him now...but I'd like that to come down a bit. Plus it seems they're shopping Cliff Lee. Can't say I'm on-board with that.
read they want 3-4 top prospects for him and 1 gm said and your first 3 born. screw these teams. you wanna a top 1 ace - fork over some prospects! The Phils need youth and Lee has the most upside to trade. And don't forget the $70 million he's owed! Lee alone could turn around this franchise with prospects and free payroll mobility. to me - utley, paps, ruiz and young should go asap! and $13 mi for utley for 3 yrs per is insanity!
I'd rather keep Lee if I could, but if they get full relief and a can't miss prospect amid the package (Phils are apparently asking Boston for future star Xander Bogaerts), then I can go along. Besides, nothing says can't re-sign Cliff Lee in the off-season! LOL! Agree about Paps, Ruiz and Young. Heard that the Phils are bringing up Cody Asche, which means Young is as good as gone. Utley I'd hang on to. $13 mil is a lot, but we're getting good production out of him and it would only be for two years.
axe-i read and heard he wants 3 yrs! is he still worth it then? and boston - yeah if you want lee fork bogaerts over! how often does an ace like this come around? he's better than cj wilson and matt garza!
