A handful of games? 10 goals scored. 1-6. last year started 0-7. 8-12 pts out of first place already. hartnell and vinny out for weeks. HOW THE HELL AM I WRONG HERE? How is this tired Cutter? What are you Ed Snyder? How can't you see this ship/season is sunk? They don't have any cap room, any good prospects besides Laughton and the other kid, their Captain is not the superstar they thought, 0 good draft picks to trade and their goalies huff ass. What about this current team is so damn awesome that I am wrong here? Tell me. Please tell me!
Catfish, I was waiting for the collapse in 2012, but it didn't happen. I thought Laviolette, Vinnie, Streit, and the gang would make the postseaon this year. I actually liked them better this year compared to two years ago. That being said, I think it's all but over now. It's tough to get mathematically eliminated, but with that net, that blueline, and that coaching staff (especially the coaching staff), I don't think the future looks good. I wouldn't read too much into the silver lining with goaltending and/or team defense either. Teams are going to be a little more conservative against the Flyers until they prove they can score consistently. Lots of teams, especially most of the EC, is going to be content sitting on the lead, PHI hasn't been able to get a point yet when they give up the first goal.
BOB-I loved the additions this year and was pumped for the opener. so they lost no biggie. then they lost 5 more over the next 2 weeks. now im concerned. cutter things im wrong here. im not. doomed is the word and holmgren is sailing the ship!
first off settle down, my comment wasnt to you although you regurgitate a lot of what everyone says on here about Homer. hes made some bad moves and I get that but youve piped up quite a bit on this lately. where was all your whining when they went to the finals? secondly its an 82 game season last I checked this isnt the NFl where a bad start means your all done. to show how little of any of that means take a look at the Dodgers who at one point were like 20 games under .500 - and now they are on the fast track to the world series. not sure what your problem is, you claim to be a ND fan and a Flyer fan yet all you do is whine about every move either of them make. I dont like homers and try not to be one and if you doubt me ask all the Wings fans how much I dog Holland. but your the opposite ( a fan supposedly) yet constant complaining - now thats tired. thanks cutter. long road ahead and many more trips to the gym. i know the rule in mlb about bringing up rookies and prospects bf june 1st due to salary arbitration. do you guys know how it works in hockey? can the flyers even bring up laughton if they wanted too or will his salary changed and rookie status?
the rookie status only changes by how many games are played, as far as the salary I think it wouldnt because hes Im sure on a 2 way right now. Im much better with the baseball end of things like this. to be honest Bob would probably be best to ask. hes very knowledgable on all the details I find very mundane like the CBA, team concessions, salary arbitration etc.
Claude Giroux has been terrible so far. for a guy getting paid like that and being the team leader this is unacceptable. Striet and Emery were supposed to be guys that played a big part in turning things around and theyve been equally bad. Matt Read and Coburn sucked too. Theres no excuse for a 1-7 start, my attitude on Homer may start to change. I like a lot of the moves hes done in the past and i loved him as a player but this isnt gonna cut it. I freakin hate Ron Hextall and Im not impressed with his body of work but at this point something needs to be done. The JVR for Schenn was to me his worst move. Luke Schenn sucks my ball sac, hes like a crappy Bob Rouse. Vinny out isnt helping
