Fish, the Pirates have some good pitching in the minors and they are about ready to come up. So I think they will be good for a little while anyways.....And that's 20 years, not 23. The Pirates have been supported no matter what. That's why their still here, otherwise they wouldn't be. All you have to do here is have a bobble head or fireworks night and the place gets packed if not sold out. I'm sure if the Phillies had been losing for 20 years, they'd be just as happy. I don't believe in the word "bandwagon". A good team draws more people than a bad team, period. That's the way I look at it.

There are very few players on this team that were signed as top FA's. A.J. Burnett is a 1st and they took a chance on Lariano after arm problems and a bad year last year. When they need a player, they call somebody up. Not go out and sign people for big money......

when was their last winning season? 1993? no. thats 20 yrs. wasnt it 90 or 91?

and why must you give out free stuff for fans to come? thats not the support of the team to me. thats people wanting free stuff for their kids or sell on ebay. at phils games i would see grown men carry out 4 or 5 phils bobbleheads. next day on ebay boom listed. sad your gotta bribe fans to come out now in all of sports. not only in pittsburgh but all over. marlins are the worst with bad giveaways for fans to come out.

maybe he was playing in Erik Johnson's 4some. Hopefully not riding in the same cart.

  10. hockeybob Hall-of-Fame Blackhawks

lol, Erik Johnson agrees that golfing is bad for hockey.

Sorry Matty, I posted before I saw yours. If nobody reads your post, maybe I'll get more credit for bringing up Johnson.

    probably likely.

is 'probably likely' a double positive, therefore, a negative?

  13. hockeybob Hall-of-Fame Blackhawks

    I'm positive that makes sense.

i met the hammer at a hooters in bensalem years ago. i was bigger than he was. i was bigger than barber too and i'm only 5'10. he wore a suit and was a nice guy. they all had on their cup rings. barber, schultz, kelly, and joe watson.

  15. I met the hammer about 5 years ago at s signing in Taylor MI. I felt so bad for the guy, there were more retards waiting for some stupid wrestler than him. I was embarrassed for him. But they call it Taylortucky for a reason. Yahoo central there. Anyhow he was cool as hell got to talk with him for for a few. He's got some big meat hooks. Funny you say you were bigger than him, I'm 6'4 and towered over him yet he'd kick the crap outta me! Good times I'll tell my kids about it someday. I got to meet the ultimate intimidator and the guy that defined what an enforcer is. He'll always hold a special place for me

The Philadelphia Flyers announced Saturday defenseman Hal Gill will participate as a tryout in training camp, which begins Sept. 12 at Wells Fargo Center. Gill (6-foot-7, 244 pounds) played 32 games last season with the Nashville Predators

more defensemen? what about the offense?

  19. hockeybob Hall-of-Fame Blackhawks

I'll still ask "what about the defense?"

Mezaros, Coburn, Streit, Pumpkinhead, Schenn, Gustafsson, Gervais, Bourdon, Grossman, and Timmonen.

It will be extremely interesting to see how Lavy splits them into pairs and which situations each end up sliding into. 29+ million is a ton to spend on a bunch of #3 through #7 dmen.
