pgh=don't be mad because mario couldn't beat hextall in the 80's! he's the right man for the job. get rid of some contracts and they will be ok. they will never be pittsburgh bc of crosby and malkin but have good defensemen in the system and are headed in the right direction.
http://articles.philly.com/2006-09-26/sports/25412526_1_flyers-coach-ken-hitchcock-nhl-camp I thought it was interesting, from 2006.
and they also made it to the Stanley Cup finals a few years back with more than one so whats your point?
I do not relish a pissing contest that involves the hockey team from Philadelphia. But, that finals team was a very low seed in a weak EC, (not like the Kings making it as a #8 seed n the WC the first year they won it). That team has such high expectations that they rarely are able to do a true rebuild. They find themselves perennially pushing the cap limit. It's a particular challenge for them to attempt to even try to change the hockey culture in that town. They have never, (other than one year), really stunk it up, and I do not know if their fans would put up with a long term rebuild. That's may be one of the reasons that their prospect pipeline is rated in the bottom third.
Snider interview. He usually has interesting things to say, I enjoyed reading it anyway. http://www.thehockeynews.com/blog/f...lks-mistakes-optimism-in-exclusive-interview/
when was the last time Vinny played a full season? had to be like 6 years ago. this is all Hextalls fault
There's a lot of trade talk about defense needed in Philly. The Hockey Writers (I do not know enough about them to know if they have an authoritative voice, or not), have a couple proposals with Tyler Myers and Chris Stewart going there. thehockeywriters.com/trade-talk-flyers-bruins-need-defencemen/ Given the cap situation, I think it could be a challenge to swing a deal with the hockey team from Philadelphia, (and with the other proposals they have involving Buffalo and the hockey team from Boston). Both of these teams been on my shit -list for forty years, (it's nothing personal), but this would be the year for Buffalo to partner with either team.
dan-gotta do something! very thin back there and calling up ghost won't be enough to weather the storm.
