The day isn't even over yet: June 23 is a really big day this decade for the Flyers. June 23rd, 2011 - Philadelphia trades Jeff Carter to Columbus for Jakub Voracek, 8th overall (Sean Couturier), and a 3rd rounder (Nick Cousins). June 23rd, 2011 - Philadelphia trades Mike Richards and Rob Bordson to Los Angeles for Wayne Simmonds, Brayden Schenn, and a 2nd rounder (later traded to Dallas). June 23rd, 2012 - Philadelphia trades James VanRiemsdyk to Toronto for Luke Schenn. June 23rd, 2014 - Philadelphia trades Scott Hartnell to Columbus for RJ Umberger and a 4th round pick. I like the Hartnell trade. Umberger isn't good but Hartnell was redundant and not effective while carrying one of the many risky contracts for the club. Long term I think this is much better for the Flyers. While Hartnell had an NMC, there's a chance Hextall wouldn't have been able to move him later. Umberger has an NTC, so it's still possible to unload him in the near term. I don't think the Flyers are going to take a step back that much. I think this will look worse on paper than it will on the ice at the end of the day. I like it for both teams. June 23 should be fun in PHI next year too.
Vinnie's signing bonus of 2 million is out of the way now. It should be easier to move the contract now, but it still won't be too easy. Burke, Tallon, and MacTavish blew many pesos yesterday.
vinny wants to be on the 2nd line or the 3rd line. he doesn't want to play lw but will play c or rw? why is berube being a hardass about this? vinny has a point.
that would be because he its the coach cat. the real question is why is Vinny such a little bitch and who cares what the player wants? everyone wants to play more and get more ice time, earn it Vinny.
for the money they're paying him, he doesn't belong on the 4th line. he had a decent year considering his linemates and who he played with.
absolutely. id say thats the former GM's fault though and not the coach's. if teams start slotting ice time based on pay scale they would be in a lot of trouble.
maybe the change of position is hard for him to adjust to it? different position/different roles and responsibilities?
that's why i think he should get a pass and for berube to ease up. no way he should be on the 4th line.
flyers = orange and black... and almost teal http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nhl-p...al-third-jersey-in-1996--photo-190838905.html
the Flyers have their own line of makeup? i'm jealous. http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=727280&navid=nhl:topheads
the non-crazy off season for the Flyers blows, I prefer the circus/ hot stove atmosphere. This Hextall fella scares me.
