I really despised Dave Schultz in 1975. Then something funny happened, he wrapped up his career in Buffalo and I began to like him a lot. Really, he was a player that epitomized the NHL in the 1970's - and not all of that was negative; I liked the NHL a lot back then.
As much as I enjoy Colorado losing, I don't like them losing with this crap. Just a dirty scum move by Hartnell because he was getting beat. Attempted career trashing move right there. My tolerance for Hartnell ended last night. He is now on my haterize list.
I love Hartnell and that did nothing to change my opinion of him, but I will say that was crap and has no place in the game. I see guys get kneed so many times when its not even intentional theres a call - this wasnt one of those times. Leave it to Bob to show something like that on this thread. were you unable to find the clip of Simmonds 100th goal?
lol. Simmonds is playing well...again. He was being slow and dumb and threw his leg out on a skilled player because he was getting beat. It was completely stupid or completely dirty but either way he through his leg out on purpose. I hate dangerous cheap shots, lazy or chickenshit, I can't respect those plays. This didn't even get me worked up compared to Brown's bullshit last night. This is the Flyer's thread though.
Dustin with another questionable hit. I think it wasn't worthy of supplemental discipline imo (based on 2 replays I saw) because Murray (CLB) was going down. Brown lined him up from a distance, Murray knew the contact was coming (probably, hopefully) and made a desperate attempt to clear the zone and then started to duck and Brown ran right through him with the head the principle point of contact. It was needless and pointless and these players can stop on a dime if they want to but Brown ran right through him. They called a penalty on the play. Murray left the game, came back, and then left again. To really get the voices going, Brown makes a juvenile comment along the lines of "I guess we can't hit anymore" as if the league is looking to elminate his 2500 hits from the book.. Being an overdramatic little biatch after a shady hit...again. Anyway, I'll post it when I find it. As bad as I want it eliminated from the game, I don't think it warranted supplemental discipline, but there may be something I didn't see in the hit. Brown is often on the line and I find it amazing that so many players are in "vulnerable positions" and Brown just happens to be there for a monster hit. He knew Murray was going down and he did nothing other than to plow through him as hard as he could with the head the principle point of contact. Nothing in Brown's history will convince me that he didn't know exactly what he was doing. Murray hopefully learned his lesson, don't play the puck because "real hockey" ignores it in Sutter's and Brown's league (that is my overdramatic and oversimplified comment for effect).
This is one of those where Slo-mo makes it look worse than it was (as far as gauging the nastiness of it) but I do believe Brown knew he was going to hit the head and just didn't give a shit since he already committed to the hit. This is right on the line of suspendable imo, but I don't see a precedent to ding Brown here...like so many of his other hits.
wow that was bad. I dont like that crap, tough players dont need to resort to that bush league crap. He should be suspended and fined. Hope Murray is ok, he was defenseless. nice job by the Jackets doing absolutely nothing afterwards. This is the problem with todays players, Brown know he wont have to answer for it so what does he care
here's a funny interview with Ed Snider. i like where the journalist brings up the last time the Olympics rolled around. http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/olymp...d--no-benefit-to-us-whatsoever-075025642.html

Nice late season run by the Flyers. Looks like you have your coach in place and goalie, was real impressed w/ Mason this season and post season. Red has been right about him. sorry about the loss fellas.
