That's tough to say. The Selke often goes to a long time established player. I think Couturier has to maintain this level of play for a few years before he gets it. Toews and Datsyuk are going to be front runners for no other reason than they deserve to be. They've earned to be thought of before all others. Much like Golden Gloves in baseball, you're offensive production isn't supposed to be taken into account to win the Selke, but it kinda seems like its a slight factor. It would help if he could start getting about 20 goals and 30 assists per year on an average basis. Maybe then they'll notice he's an iron curtain defensively. They always try to get him out against top lines. I was not thrilled about Downie's return, but his presence with Couturier and Read seems to really have made a quality trio on the third line. I don't even know if you can call them the third line. They might lack the scoring power of the top two scoring lines, but Berube is running them out there with top two minutes.
