Well catfish, if PHI can't move up the odds are pretty good that a couple of teams will move down.

  2. atleast the tired Homer jokes subsided for a couple......

  3. not so fast, cutter. i just heard the rangers turned around and sent prince to the flyers for 2 firsts and a second.

well the flyers are playing better and the players are responding to berube's style now. kimmo seemed happy about the changes etc. can this team win a cup? no. but can they at least make the playoffs and kick the hornet's nest of a top team? maybe.

cutter--i will lay off my homer jokes till the new year.

  10. he's right. i missed this originally, but hartsy and skillsy are names which invoke an adjective that once meant happy and carefree.

  13. so whos the next owner gonna be? that team is worth some cash and can be turned around. theyve already started playing much better. wonder if Clarke and that douche Hextall stay. good opportunity for the right person

i have plenty of time but no cashola... so, if anyone wants to spot me a few ... hundred... million, i'll do it.

  15. Halo if you owned it what would be your first move? Seriously no sarcasm

am i the owner/gm, etc.? or just the owner? Philly is SO far away from competing for the Cup... so, if i'm the owner with GM powers, i fire the entire coaching staff and bring in a coach and crew that is successful at talking to young players and then i start unloading the old dead weight that is sinking that ship. i'll keep 4-5 core players (Giroux, Simmonds, Couterier, and couple of other (un)lucky bastards), then get younger. Hartnell? gone. Timmonen? gone. Read? gone. i should have something good in about three years, plus i won't be floating around like a fat lady in a plastic Wal-mart wading pool, just in case someone wants to wheel and deal at the trade deadline.

  17. Not necessarily my take on it but good post nonetheless

Hextall a douche? Courterier a scorer?

    where have i been?

keep hextall, fire the rest, bring in a Nazi tyrant coach like Keenan and trade everyone you can and especially giroux as he has the most value and rebuild!

  19. you're kinda sorta the guy in charge, halo. Homer calls the shots. You would be the buffer between Holmgren and Snider. I'd personally start by replacing Holmgren with Hextall, as Ron Hextall earned himself a pretty good reputation over there in LA.

By the way, Hartnell has a full NMC. Otherwise I'd be with you on that.

As much as I was against the Berube hiring, that guy has done a pretty good job in his brief tenure as coach. I'd be looking for a replacement for next season, but if the team continues to develop then it would be hard to dump him.

Couts is not the scorer we hoped for, but the guy is as solid as they come on defense. The game is played two ways. For the money he's making, I'd keep him. If he was making superstar money, then I'd have to rethink things. He's not. He's cheap and effective.

Kimmo is done. You don't need to get rid of him. He's gonna get rid of himself in a few months.

You've got Laughton and Cousins coming up in a year. Gostisbehere, Haag and Morin will completely replenish your blue line the year after (maybe sooner). Mix that with your talent pool and there might be something here. Can't just send off of your youth. That's what Homer would do.

now red -- i agree with you with that post. i like the youth movement.

can couts contend for the selke this year?
