that's easy - for people like me, who have so much weight to lose - i need sweat - every damn day! getting out and sweating is key!

I'm lucky enough to have a live-in gf, so I'm covered there. It's not the money part that bugs me, I don't want strangers touching me all over. It's just one of my weird things. The topic of massage was in reference to spa & club amenities. Also, I see these massage stations here and there. Straddle the seat, go face down into the padded ring and blindly let some stranger rub and massage you... aaaahahaha!!! No thanks!

Oddly, my step-brother is a licensed masseuse and he thinks my hang-up is funny. I would let him give me a massage, since I know him personally and he's a professional. Where are the credentials for these massage chair stations? Is it sanitary? Sure, they spray or wet wipe the seats, etc., but how clean is it? Plastic seat sweat... mmmmmmm!

^^ but if you didn't have a gf - live in or not, then it's your step brother in law or no one else. dwindles it down a lot.

I'll pass on the massage then. I can always sit in a hot tub... preferably with a waterfall feature.

Hey so I'm doing a bunch of reading on ketones. Anyone have any personal experience or suggestions to make?

    @BearsWillWin ?

As a weight loss supplement? I wouldn't recommend it. They haven't been tested on humans....they're highly acidic and can cause stomach issues and I've read that they can do liver and kidney damage as well.

Just another in a long line of "miracle" pills or tonics that cost too much and do little good.

Well that's interesting. A g/f of mine just sent me a link to a website that promotes ketone drinks and food. The prices are outrageous!

I'm trying to find something that will give me energy. I'm beyond exhausted and the pain is really becoming a serious problem. I hate this so much; I wake up in terrible pain and it follows me all day. Do you have any idea what I could do about this?

It would depend on where your pain is coming from....is it because of past accidents you've had?

Physically...there might not be a ton you can do that you aren't doing already. You do a lot of yoga and that's good....maybe you need to do less of your classes and fit in rest more throughout the day?

What is your carb intake? Also for energy you can up your fiber and magnesium intake as well.

Has your thyroid been checked lately?

How many hours are you sleeping? Have you tried midday power naps? Or power snacks....like natural snacks not supplements or store bought junk.

Have you tried soaking in the tub...maybe with epsom salt?

    Oh wow.
Okay one question at a time.

The pain is from nerve damage after my fall from our roof in 2000. There are bone spurs that grow along my spinal cord and they seem to attach themselves close to the nerve roots. That means I've had pretty acute pain in my neck, arms, back, hips and legs. I have substantial nerve damage from my neck down to my legs according to my last visit with a physiatrist. So yes, it's a result of a bad car accident in 1974 and a fall in 2000.

I eat good carbs like greens (kale, cabbage, and stuff like that) and I don't eat sugar or white foods (rice, pasta, bread). I would have to search how to include more magnesium in my diet. I sometimes use a product called Calm which helps with pain a little.

I had my thyroid checked probably about 10 years ago.

Because of the cannabis tea I have been sleeping about 8 hours which is bloody incredible. That's been my reality for the last year. Prior to that I was sleeping about 3 hours a night due to pain. That lasted for 16 years.

I don't sleep during the day. I'm not wired that way. I can truthfully say that all of the snacks and meals that I eat are home made. I never buy anything that comes in a box or a can. I detest power bars so I make my own.

I do take Epson salt baths occasionally but it's very hard for me to lie quietly in a tub. I need a hot tub so I don't have to be scrunched up in this little tub we have. Sometimes it takes a Herculean effort to get out of the tub. It hurts and I slip and I fall and ... yeah you know the rest.

You're an active person though and some of those simple carbs in your diet would do you some good. Carbs = energy. I'm not saying hit the all you eat pasta buffet but there should be some breads in your diet that aren't multigrain. Good carbs are great....but your body also burns them much faster and therefore you're getting less energy that isn't sticking around as long as you need it to. If you aren't already eating oatmeal at least a couple times a week...I highly recommend you do. Whole wheat pasta is awesome....but eat some of the regular kind occasionally too.

And if you don't eat beans....start immediately. Your husband will hate you but beans pack an incredible amount of energy and they are one of the best complex carbs there are. White rice isn't the devil its made out to be. It's actually a good staple of any good diet...you just can't over do it.

You're active...it's okay to carb up a little.

Consider asking your doctor to check it.

Yeah you're getting sleep but it's not the best kind of sleep because your body is being tricked in resting but not recouping enough.

Have you tried melatonin? It can help regulate sleep and wake cycles and there's no hangover.

I don't sleep during the day. I'm not wired that way. I can truthfully say that all of the snacks and meals that I eat are home made. I never buy anything that comes in a box or a can. I detest power bars so I make my own.

A power nap a few times a week could have great benefits. My wife was skeptical of them as well but they've helped her with her depleted energy levels.

Considering you're barely five feet tall....that must be one small tub. Tell the husband you need a hot tub or a bigger bath.....it's a worthwhile investment. I am in my hot tub almost every day and it's done wonders for my back pain over the years.

I eat rye bread sometimes but I've never been a big fan of bread. It's weird because I usually make my own bread (not the rye but different kinds) and I'm told it's delicious. I do eat porridge at least twice a week if not more often. I like it with apples grated into it and cinnamon.

I detest beans. I don't know how I would even put them into my diet. I never eat chili because of the beans and pork and beans? EWWW! How would I put them into my diet when I hate them?

I mostly eat whatever I want but I'm starting to worry a bit. I've lost more weight I think because I'm too exhausted at night (I teach 4 evening classes) to eat or I eat only a little bit. My energy is pretty low and the pain is sky high. It's tough to eat and sleep because of that.

I'm seeing him on Monday so I'll add that to my requests.

I have tried melatonin but it didn't help with the sleep because my pain is too high. I'm not crazy about this cannabis-induced sleep because I often feel like it's an artificial sleep too. For the very first time since I started teaching I had to stop working the poses with my clients the other night. I simply could not put any weight on my arms. I felt so awful because I had to spend the rest of the class checking and correcting forms.

I wish I could. I get home from my morning classes at around 1-2 pm and then a lot of days I just sit. I can't find the energy to do hardly anything during the afternoon. I'm using too much energy in my classes I think. I can try closing my eyes but that makes me very anxious so I don't know how I could calm down enough to do it.

My bathtub is a smaller size. It's just stupid. I've asked and begged and pleaded for a large tub with jets. I actually dream about it sometimes. I would love a hot tub too because moving hot water really helps with my nerve pain. He just hasn't done it. I dunno if he will or not.

So my girlfriend who is following this ketone diet told me this: "Approved into Canada in February 2017 by health regulations." I know that she's using it to lose weight and she's told me that she has a lot more energy. I'm just interested in the energy part of this.

I absolutely love homemade bread. Reminds me of my mom every time. And I said oatmeal...not porridge. F'n Canuck.

Beans are so so good for you. Like ridiculously good. Just shove it in your mouth and swallow.....

Yeah unfortunately melatonin doesn't do anything for pain. The problem with the cannabis tea is it's blocking your pain receptors and allowing your body to relax....but the pain is still there...you just don't feel it for a period of time. Your body needs to heal and recoup. Finding a new way to manage the pain is needed and honestly...I am unsure what is best. I do think you might be too active and need to slow down. That might be park of it.

Maybe a smaller amount of cannabis tea in the afternoon just to help you relax? I'm anxiety is playing a huge role and I honestly don't know where to begin to help you with that. I don't think I've ever had actual anxiety...even in the worst moments of my life. I'm not sure why. I don't get nervous...except for it the Cubs, Bears, or Blackhawks are playing in a really big game. Outside of that I'm typically always very relaxed.

You gotta make him understand how important it is. It could be life changing, honestly.

I make all kinds from white, multi-grain, French, Molasses, Egg and German bread. I think it's awesome how certain aromas can trigger really happy memories. I get a lot of those reactions to different dishes that I cook because my Mom used to cook them. I'm going to send you a couple of recipes someday that I know you'd love.

I feel like such an idiot about this. I just detest the consistency on my tongue. It makes me heave. LOL

I hate the idea of taking any pills for pain. I spent the first 8 years using Darvon, Narcotic patches, Oxy-cotin, morphine, nerve block pills and other stuff and it really impacts on the quality of your life. The problem is if I don't use pain medication I wake up in so much pain I want to scream and cry. I don't but it takes a huge amount of energy to go through my days looking like I'm okay. It's really pretty awful.

My doctor told me to have a cup in the afternoon to see if it would help. The only problem with that is it makes me really sleepy and high and I can't drive to my evening classes then.
I guess I'm kind of an anxious person. I hate seeing people upset at me or at anyone. I'm always trying to smooth things over. During my son's illness and hospitalization I was a nervous wreck but for good reason. I remember my Mom telling me that when I was really young I wouldn't sleep; and in fact, I'd fight it. She said I didn't want to miss anything that my sisters and brothers were doing so I would try to stay awake.

You're lucky to be so naturally relaxed. Ugh. I'm trying really hard to stop reacting to everything that surrounds me and to try to stop fixing everything. It's just part of my nature but it will end up killing me if I'm not careful.

I remember when your back was so bad and you were almost going to have an operation but then you started using your hot tub more regularly and that really made a difference. I think it would help me a lot too if he would get one. I certainly get a lot of stretching done every day but that's not enough. Hot water really helps with pain and it might even make my muscles unclench.

I'm mostly just tired of being in this kind of pain all day and night. You're right about how the tea helps to block the pain and I am eternally grateful that I'm getting better sleep but even it has it's limits. There are lots of night where I'm walking around trying to hold my arms up in a position that will stop triggering the pain. I can't even lie down normally, I can't have my arms by my sides or over my head or anything. The only way I can tolerate the pain is by holding my arms across my chest but even that's not stopping all of it.

I think you could be right about not doing as much too. There's lots of nights when I really don't want to get back into my car to go and teach yoga. The problem is, my schedule was created to target when people want to do classes so if I don't give them to them then I don't benefit. Even this new gig at this new gym will be amazing and cool but ... it might be way too much for me. He wants me to teach 2 evening classes during the week and 2 classes during the weekend. That would mean that on 2 night I would be teaching yoga from 6pm to 9 pm. I also have to be in the studio 30 minutes before class to set up and then at least 30 minutes at the end to usher everyone out and to clean up the studio.
That's a lot of yoga. It's exciting to think about but the reality is it's going to be even more exhausting.

    Ugh.

The bottle of capsules is $149 and it's only enough for 30 days ... if you take only 1 each day. I can't afford that. I would prefer to figure out how to incorporate ketones into my diet naturally, using natural and organic foods that I already eat.

@BearsWillWin what do you think of counting macros? I've been loosely following IIFYM over the last year or so but I'm much stricter right now. What's your opinion of it?
