tipped pass, so no. After they got screwed out of the TD Ben should've spiked that instead of forcing it...
Bummer. So many times to put the game away and they can't. Pats are too good to give those chances to. Not happy about the reversed TD but I guess it was the right call. Oh well. the season is not over. Haden and Brown will come back and if the Steelers get a bye then who knows if they even play the Pats. We'll see.
I feel Ben should’ve called a real play. Patriots didn’t believe he was spiking it. They had time for a real play.
I actually feel a little dirty after that game. Like I said. Going to be one of those games. Steelers should of won that game, the catch rule dumb. Hope we do it again in January.
I appreciate this, Press. I'm baffled because it feels like the Patriots weren't our only opponent tonight. Having said that, the Pats came through when they needed to and I congratulate them on the win.
That is one of the worst calls in NFL this yr and maybe last 5 yrs.....they just give NE every call...smh
My neighbor was making weird noises. I know he is steelers fan, so I go outside. He is working the heavy bag in his garage. whooph whooph whooph
Well, I’ve watched enough football this year (non-Steeler games too) that I’ve seen that same type of play called complete and incomplete. It depends which idiot ref is out there. The rule was tweaked after the Dez play in the playoffs where if it was deemed by the ref that the receiver was making a football move it would be awarded a catch. Technically James knee was down and he made a “football move” by reaching for the goal line. Again it depends on the ref and possibly as beloved Techheart would think who the ref placed a bet on. With all that said if Davis catches that easy INT none of that nonsense happens
James had full possession of the ball and one knee down....therefore he becomes a runner at this point which ends the second the ball touches the front of the goal line...it was an easy call and Tomlin should be fined, suspended or whatever over that call
if you come down with a catch and immediately toss the ball towards fans before you get tackled hard, you really do not have to complete the catch per nfl rulz. M. Thomas should have had one today.
The problem is they have a tough time beating NE at home, going to NE makes it 10 times tougher, in past seasons I wouldn’t worry too much about being a 1 or 2 (just get a bye) but the problem this year is I believe they need to avoid Jacksonville as I don’t think they match up well against them at all. They may not even make it to NE.
Agree except for the Tomlin part but the idiot ref said “he didn’t survive the ground” again it’s under the interpretation of the ref, 10 other refs may have ruled that a TD #Inconsistency
Ben is an idiot. Complete idiot. And BTW I think it's correct to rule that no catch. Until the catch is official it doesn't matter if you only lost it because of a reach. Get the official catch before you lose it. One thing though. You could argue it wasn't conclusive because the ball did move but it rolled while staying pinned against his wrist. So you could argue he still kept control enough and thus it was a catch, or at least not enough to overturn.
Its the goal line which is completely different...if a RB jumps over the pile and the front part of the ball touches the white line its a TD doesnt matter what happens after that
The difference is that the play is over then for a runner. James did not yet become a runner because he did not complete the catch yet.
Yes he did....he had possession of the ball and his knee hit...if a NE defender touches him the play is over correct?
Not true. Look in the rule book. He isn't a runner until the catch is made. He still needs to survive the complete contact with the ground. He did not. He took a risk and paid for it. Dez Bryant or Calvin Johnson (forget who) did the same thing a year or two ago.
Those guys were in the air and landed on the ground....James had the ball w knee down then reached over the end line
