I don't know about his eligibility, but Kentrell Brothers would make a nice ILB for a 3-4 team. All the kid does is tackle everything.

One thing I want to see with Carter, is can his size translate into something beyond a premier 3-4 rush LB? 6'6, great downhill speed. Needs more hip work/going side to side. I feel he can be the total package after watching minor film on him. The question is, can he apply it to the NFL immediately? If you asked me, Baltimore Ravens would be one of the very few places he could pull that off.

One thing I want to see, from being 235 as a senior in high school going into last year, to just a hair under 250 to start this year. Does he continue to put on weight to be a down lineman or stay as an OLB?

Something tells me with his make up, putting on 20 lbs wont be a problem over 2-3 months of training. You'd have yourself a pretty damn good 4-3 DE. It could be a better possibility for him if he cant be flexible as an OLB in a 3-4.

    So....

I said I'd be watching QBs.

Connor Cook was exceptional when I caught some highlights of Michigan State and Western Michigan. His mid-long range is accurate. WMU doesn't have slouches on their team, considering they play in the MAC. Cook hit his spots on mid to long range and put it in places DBs couldn't get to in tight, blanket coverage.

The whole 15 for 31 is concerning if you look at a stat sheet. Opening day jitters? Dont know. 4 WR drops considering, and another 4 throwaways to avoid sacks makes that stat look slightly better. Didn't turn the ball over.

Cook was 8-13 passing on 3rd down and converted 6 of the 8 for first downs. Hear that, Jay?

Michigan State can just churn out RBs out of nobodies. Madre London is only a freshman. 2 years from now, after Chubb next year he is the premier back to watch,

Right now after watching my NU Wildcats beat up on Stanford (something I feel great about, the defense made Kevin Hogan look bad); I'm watching BYU and Nebraska.

I mentioned Taysom Hill at BYU QB a few times last year. Broke his leg, so he didn't enter the draft. He's a senior now and is entering the draft.

I dont know if he's a product of his WRs or just damn good. Nick Kurtz, Terren Hauk, Mitchell Matthews are his 1, 2, and 3 WRs. All are 6'5 or taller. His TE, Kirk Henderson is 6'4.

Hill is hitting his guys in stide and making great throws, his WRs are running great routes. A bit of both.

Hill likes to run, but this guy HAS to learn how to slide. NFL wont be nice to him like Nebraska's D.

Nebraska just cant keep up. Plus they look like shit. Their DBs cant cover these giants. Its on ABC right now if you're in Chicago right now.

Funny you say that about him because that is my concern with Floyd. Guy just looks so freaking skinny but just makes plays. I keep hoping he puts on weight but while he does look bigger, still not big enough.

Carter looks much bigger this year and has the frame like you said to get bigger. Granted it was against ULL today but he looked really good. The entire UGA defense looked more intense and disciplined then they ever did last year. Second year under Jeremy Pruitt is paying dividends.

Both players will be interesting to watch but Carter stood out to me today.

Jake Butt the TE from Michigan looks like a good player too. The QB from Michigan sucked but he made some plays and showed some good hands.

I'm keeping my eyes open for defensive players but he stood out for Michigan.

Tell you who is impressive as QB is this Freshman on UCLA, Josh Rosen. This kid is one to watch in the future. Granted it was only one game but it was against a pretty good Virginia defense and he made some tough throws and UCLA dominated.

  6. agreed, aggie, butt was absolutely the high point for the wolverines. this kid can play.

and just like for new blackhawk garbutt, i think it's time to start the same policy for jake as well.

TE is a huge need, but not one of the big ones right now I think the bears need to target going forward. Though I agree, that Butt kid looked good.

    1--OL, primarily OT

    2--Secondary

    3--ILB

    4--TE

And that's if there is no quarterback need.

And then I remembered I have to mute it when the faggots from Notre Dame are on TV. Mike Mayock is an idiot and I'm surprised both of these guys haven't just gotten on their knees.

Also would help if Texas didn't look like a bunch of disabled high schoolers. What the hell happened to that program?

Nkemdiche, Bosa, and Wright III top my list. I'd go Bosa first.

Changed it to the Wisconsin/Bama game.

4 of Wisconsin's 5 OL are juniors or seniors. All projected high picks. Tyler Marz their LT is impressive. Able to handle both the 5 tech and rush LB from Bama and make it look easy in pass protection thus far. Had to double time it twice because their TE doesn't know his assignment.

Want to see Wisconsin run it off him. They keep trying it up the gut and its not working.

Cross Hill off the "QB watch" list.

Just announced torn muscle in foot, out for year.

    Jeffery, Eifert, and Mosley.

    That is all.

    Year of the TE mismatches?

Too fast for LBs and too big for DBs?

    Still too early to tell...

But, I was on that boat two years ago.

Are we gonna chase trends again? It would be nice to set them for a change...

Run the football and attack with two TEs. The smaller attacking speed defenses will have fits with it...

    22 TE TDs last week?

The defenses can't cover them anymore.

  12. i'm not so sure the steelers couldn't cover the tight end. it looked more to me like they chose not to ;)

  13. Scotty Guest

That was just a taste with Gronk. Chandler had 1 target and 1 reception for a TD.

Kelce had 2, Eifert had 2.

49ers ran 3 TE sets all night and embarrassed the Vikings on the ground.

They had no answer. The LBs are too small anymore to compensate.

If you have to commit a safety, the WRs will shred you...

It is the QB's best friend, IMO we should have got out in front of this...

  14. Scotty Guest

Let's see if the defense's can rebound in week 2...

If you can't control the TEs, it allows the offense to be multiple and you are locked in base package playing a guessing game. Not where you want to be...

Shitty Fells went for 4 receptions 82 yards and a TD.

    That can't happen again.

    Feel free to disagree.

Why am I wrong? What am I missing?

    Missed debating you guys.

Anyone watching Michigan State/Air Force on ABC right now?

Connor Cook is clearly the #1 QB of this upcoming draft class. This guy is accurate. 4/4 on 3rd downs, with 55 yards and a TD and its almost halftime. Both TDs his WR and TE were in impossible blanket coverage and he put it where the defender couldn't touch it.

Plus I get to see the goofy triple option from Air Force.

There are things I like about Cook, I think he will be a solid NFL QB. I go into every game I watch him wanting to love him but I never do.

I agree with you that he will be the best one available next season but I'm not that encouraged right now with what is coming out at QB.

What is it aggie a gut feeling or something about him you don't like about him?

  19. patg006 M.V.P. Bears

He's doing it without major weapons (who all left for draft last year), besides a talented freshman running back.

The guy just makes plays. His 3rd down passing conversion rate is fantastic, he puts the ball in spots other defenses cant get to. He was great against Oregon, even amid conservative play calling. I've seen Michigan State be stubborn about running the ball, even if its not exactly working out for them.

To be skeptical, Michigan State doesn't exactly produce top notch quarterbacks, but there can always be an exception to the rule.

The guy it looks like he'll be fighting for the #1 spot, John Goff is a guy I'm not sold on. Everybody likes to bring up Aaron Rodgers, former Cal QB. Goff goes to Cal, and has impressive stats. Except there were two different schemes, Rodgers ran pro style and threw the ball 24 times a game, and Goff is in the air raid and averages 45 throws per game.

David Fales put up gaudy numbers in an air raid offense.

It is a gut feeling, we will see how he plays the rest of the season. It's not that I don't like him, I think he will be a solid NFL QB but just not the franchise guy we are looking for. I know those don't grow on trees so I won't be upset if we got him but I'm hoping to find that guy to build around.

Patg, I can't argue with anything you are saying. He looks solid so far and maybe he will change my mind by the end of the season. I have been watching him play this season very closely and he is by far the best guy coming out this season but just not sure about him ... yet.
