no or, baby. any further travel down that road could only serve as attempt to impeach the validity of the first one. and that one is unimpeachable
Oh my God you horrible awful man! LOL ... I think it's pretty safe to say that isn't my husband's 'thing' either
36 years ago today, Walter Payton had his first 200-yard rushing game, going for 205 yards on 23 carries in a 26-0 #Bears win over the #Packers. ?
This is also secret code for "if McCown lays an egg this week, Cutler WILL return prior to the initial 4 week timetable". If McCown looks good, it will give Cutler more time to heal. This is not an injury you can or should rush back from... unless McCown plays like Campbell or Hanie. Then just tape the thing up and play.
He played pretty well in the game against Washington, right? I thought that was a great sign for the games to come. I hope it was Washington. I'm a little confused.
Yes he did play well against Washington and it was encouraging. But NFL history is littered with backup QB's who play one great game in relief and then stink up the place after that. I am hoping McCown is not one of those guys but also am being realistic that it is a possibility. Backup QB's are usually backup QB's for a reason in a QB starved league.
absolutely. the first example that comes to mind for me is when drew bledsoe went down with an injury, and some kid named brady got a chance to play.
Most of the examples of the successful backups are when a young, unproven player gets his first chance. McCown has been around and been given chances at other places, basically picked up off the scrap heap by the Bears after the disastorous Caleb Hanie experiment. Those examples of veteran backups playing at a high level are few and far between. I did mention in another thread that maybe Trestman can pull a Rich Gannon part II when he was the OC for the Raiders and turned a journeyman QB into an MVP winner and Super Bowl QB. Matt Flynn has made a lot of money off one good game as a Packer against the Lions a few years ago.
