LOL ... that's mean dline! But funny :)

Wolf is crazy. I had a horrible exchange with him right after I joined CBS. I was talking in some thread about some stuff and my son's suicide came up. Wolf told me that I was to blame for J's death. Based on some comments I made about drug use and having done a lot of hitchhiking to music festivals when I was younger ... he told me that my parenting is what killed J. He really scared me that day and I tried to stay as far away from him as I could afterwards.

  2. babyfan, you have to understand that most of us were born and raised fans of the teams we root for today. I would never start rooting for the Bears anymore than dlinebass5 up there would root for the Packers. It's just doesn't happen. Obviously, you are a unique situation, where you only started following the sport a few years ago. I'm not meaning to call you out for anything, just pointing out the oddity of the situation. And with you ultimately picking the Bears over the Packers, it's kind of like the Bears winning, and Packer fans don't like that too much. Peace.

And I'm not too worry about those nasty monsters. I'm a big boy, and can take care of myself. Hey, I see a lot of former CBS guys here, but did Badfish ever make it over? We used to have some pretty good discussions; even managed to piss each other off a few times.

  3. My God, I had no idea about any of that. Besides a lot of good Packers posters leaving, it's guys like EW that convinced me to not post as regularly as I used to at CBS. It just wasn't as fun as it used to be. My condolences, both for your son and for dealing with EW's shyte.

For sure a lot of the discussions here recently have shown me exactly how seriously fans take their sport and their teams. I have no experience with that to that extreme anyway. It's interesting to read this stuff ... the comments that Mongo made about how he feels after a Bears loss was very eye-opening for me.

As for me picking the Bears ... I've had a fair bit of communication with some of them (when they'd come to Packer game threads etc) and I learned quickly to respect them and to admire them. To me they're like sleeping bears ... easy to get along with and easy to look at but when they wake up and they're mad? I'm the first one running for the exit. :) These guys are very similar in a lot of ways, amazingly authoritative about the game, the techniques, the different teams and a bunch more of stuff that I can't remember and they are all absolutely hilarious. All of them are. This makes for great reading and I'm getting an education in football like I never thought I'd have AND I enjoy my time with them when they're not telling me to shut up or saying rude, lewd and lascivious things to me. When they do that I still like them but I spend a lot of time imagining me putting my foot on their chest and declaring myself the winner. Now THAT would be a life-defining moment :)

Oh and I haven't seen Badfish. I don't know him at all :)

Badfish was around early, but hasn't posted lately. I'd assume we'll see more of him come season.

    Everyone makes mistakes in life.

But usually you end up getting things right in the end.

I hope a lot more of your group shows up here dline. I'll take a look around NGSF too to see if there's anyone there who you guys know.

Sorry I didn't see this yesterday MPF ... but thank you. It was my mistake to ever bring up something so personal on a public forum. I don't always double check my posts ... as the guys here can vouch to. :)

The thread was actually one of wolf's. He was moaning and groaning about a Packers' loss and some side discussion came up that I was a part of. After he said what he said to me (he hated me for some reason), a lot of the regular Packer fans came by the thread and told wolf what they thought of him but nothing could erase seeing his words putting the blame on me. That was just two years after my son died of an attempted suicide.

I agree with you about the loss of momentum on the CBS boards. The quality and caliber of posts declined so much and with the open forum of trolls ruining so many good discussions it was disheartening. I hope that mudncleats can pick up the slack from cbs in a big way ... we just need to find some new toys for the boys here to play with ... a hrddrv or pfish toy. If that's their right names. :)

Now why didn't I think of saying this?

    Funny bww :)

I made it last night for a full (and very critical) crowd. Huge success ... and I fooled around with the recipe coz I like doing that :) I added some Boursin cheese, swiss cheese, Monterey Jack and some garlic to the cream cheese and green onion mixture. They're slippery little buggers to hold on to when you wrap them with the bacon but I did it!

I served the chicken with golden brown baked scalloped potatoes oozing with cheese, garlic and onions, some fresh young asparagus with melted butter and chives and, of course, a kale salad filled with garlic, orange pieces, strawberries and red onions with homemade Balsamic Vinegar and Grape seed Oil dressing. Dessert was scrumptious coz I make this fabulous gooey chocolate brownie but I put a thick layer of homemade caramel sauce on top of the brownie when it comes out of the oven (I prick it to make holes all over the surface) and then pour the caramel over it when it's still very warm. After that I ice it with a mocha chocolate icing that I make. My guests were pretty impressed and one guy offered to put me in a restaurant to cook ... or at least that's what I think he said. He said something about me working in a hotel ... that probably means as a chef right?

So I hope you like this recipe bww ... I thought of you when I saw it coz of the bacon. I didn't eat any last night for obvious reasons but they sure smelled good! :)

First of all. The Packers suck.

In order of my activities today I:

Walked 8 miles in 90? heat. The walk was great, the deer flies, horse flies and mosquitoes were ferocious and plentiful. I've never seen so many bugs or been bitten and mauled by so many.

Cut 5 acres of grass after my walk and after about the first 30 minutes I was ready to cry. The horse and deer flies were ridiculous and the mosquitoes were the unsavoury icing on a pestilential cake. I have never in my life been this close to walking off a job. I now have bumps all over me and they hurt and some itch.

Only thing to do? Take some wise man's advice and pour a glass of rum and coke and turn up the John Lee Hooker.

Already feeling a little better ... got my strut on ...

  13. as a fan of the language, that turn of phrase is magnificent. as someone who lives wirh those things too (altho horseflies are rare here), i intend to shamelessly steal it.

hooker and raitt are worth a thumbs up by themselves. unsavoury icing on a pestilential cake is worth a hundred :)

I'm also a huge fan of the English language. I spent much of my time teaching English Literature classes in high schools. I also do a lot of free lance writing and have been published in a small, quiet and unobtrusive papers.

Feel free to use my random phrase ... :)
