    Johnny Manziel is a dwarf.

Johnny Manziel will ALWAYS run before going through his progressions

Johnny Manziel couldn't hold Blake Bortles jock. (He might sniff it, bit he couldn't hold it).

    Colt McCoy > Johnny Manziel.

I will agree. Johnny and his stats belong in Dumb Ass of the Day.

Im sick of hearing how "he was in the SEC, the best conference". The top of the conference may be the best..and those are his numbers against the best of everyone.

He sure did beat up on Sam Houston State x2, Southern Methodist University x2, Arkansas x2, Ole Miss x2, Vanderbilt, UTEP, Mississippt State, South Carolina State (not the gamecocks, the bulldogs), Louisiana Tech and Mizzou (who was terrible in his first game, 1-7 i believe at the time).

Then when he has to put his big boy pants on he averages 290 YPG 1.85 TD 1.25 INT.

I expect more from you Sam than "this belongs in dumbass of the day". *HELP*

I can't believe anybody would listen to a word out of somebody like Chris Mortensen's mouth. That's the first time I've even said his name.
Fact is, at this time of year, nobody knows a damn thing more than they did a month ago. They'll all say they do, and draw conclusions from the most mundane of things - most of all each other's shit. But at the end of the day, nobody has a clue.

History says that if you want a QB, you get him early, especially recent history. If the Browns feel that Manziel or any other QB is their guy, above all other QB's, they should take him at #4. If they've got three or four QB's graded out the same way, take somebody else. But if you've picked your guy, you make sure you get him. I don't see a reason why it wouldn't be Johnny Manziel.

Qbs are getting over valued based on position. If the best QB isnt in the top 10 list of players (just an example, calm down) you dont get him with your 1 overall or 4 overall. The draft is about getting value for your pick.

Weve seen the same thing happen year in and year out, most recently, Jake Locker, Christian Ponder and Blaine Gabbert...all over valued bc they were simply QBs (i could go back to Sam Bradford too). Cam Newton was totally worth his pick. You have guys that are supposed to be "sure things" that drop and dont pan out...and you have other guys in the same boat that become elite (see Brady Quinn and A-Aron Rogers). Its all a crap shoot.

I would take a run at Johnny bc of the unknown..just not at 4. 4 has to be a home run, immediate impact player and I think JF will need an adjustment period.

Holy Hell dogside...You had to go and pull me back in....

Manziel flourishes against teams of all levels. He may not put up ungodly numbers against the top defense, but he DOES do it better than all other QBs when he plays them.

Do you know what 290 YPG and 1.85 TD translates to in the NFL? over 4,600 yards and 30 TDs in a 16 game season. You are stating numbers that would be GREAT for any QB in any conference against any competition. Yet, he doesn't throw for 400 yards and 5 TDs against everyone he faces...THAT is your argument?

How about those who say all he does is run and that doesn't translate?...All he does is leave the pocket and he can't do that in the NFL?

What everyone refuses to see is AS A QB, he is one of the best in this game. All the other stuff, if he NEVER did it in an NFL game, he would still be one of the top two in this draft. All the other stuff is simply what makes him a top 3 draft pick, because he can do things others cannot.

Did you know he led the ENTIRE NCAA in passing percentage FROM THE POCKET? Everyone wants him to stay in the pocket, well if he does, he becomes the most proficient passer in all the NCAA...so coach him up and keep him in the pocket and you not only have your boring do nothing more than what is meant to be done by a QB, QB...but you will have the most proficient one to do it in the most boring way possible. Don't worry about making plays to sustain drives, because "we" as fans don't care about pulling out games, what we REALLY WANT is you to stand back there and not get hurt, because that is what WILL happen if you leave a pocket to try and make something happen...Wait what? What do you mean you've never missed a game to injury in like, well, EVER?! That can't be possible, you must be so hurt you can't remember...

To say he won't be able to do it in the NFL is ludicrous...I am not saying he WILL be able to, but we won't know if any prospect in this draft can translate to the next level.

you say they are faster and stronger in the NFL? I say, those SEC players he played against in college are the same ones he will be playing against on Sundays. Do they get faster and smarter? I hope so they are professionals...but Manziel is also going to grow and learn and if his work ethic is what they say it is, he will learn and grow faster than the average player which will help him be better than everyone else on the field...which just happens to be what he was in college...

And...no I didn't forget about that other stat above...his INT rate turns into 20 per season at that rate...I will take first down after first down and 30 TD over the course of the season and giving the ball back to the opposing team 20 times in that same season every year. Although, when I say I expect him to improve...well that includes that INT mark as well. As he works in a system and plays next to his teammates professionally every day, I expect Manziel will make every player around him play at another level. By doing that, he won't have to make as many bone head plays trying to keep a drive alive...

Or we can just go back to the QB play we have seen the past 14 years and throw the ball into the stands on 3rd and 6, our punter can always use the practice. Oh, we have seen that INT rate over and over again, what we haven't seen is the TD rate...

Keep that in mind, while you are championing for another offensive lineman.

And who is a homerun, immediate impact player?

Please tell me who our savior is at #4

  17. SAS M.V.P. Rams Chargers

Maybe because it's the most valuable position?

I know there aren't a lot of statisticians around here (or even math minors) but does anyone remember a weighting scale? If your position rankings are weighted as follows:

And your player rankings are as follows:

Your multipliers change those values to:

I leave Clowney in there as a point, since he's such a tremendous freak of an athlete, he's one of those guys that people throw out the rankings for.

The best team gets you to a Super Bowl, but the best defensive end doesn't win you a Super Bowl. The best wide receiver doesn't win you a Super Bowl. The best offensive tackle doesn't win you a Super Bowl. The best quarterback? Bingo.

    I WIN !!!!! *YAHOO*

  19. dlinebass5 M.V.P. Bears

I hear you. But QB's aren't over-valued - they're getting picked higher than great WR's or DL's because they ARE more valuable, generally speaking. You need at least an average QB to even begin thinking about the playoffs, and only a handful of teams have at least an average QB. So, a guy like Barr may be a better bet for an impact player - you're right that QB's often wind up not being good enough to start. But the lack of worthy QB's makes getting one all the more important. So, if you feel that that guy is there, you get him. You take him before you take the best WR, before you take the best DL...

If you feel that guy isn't there, or you don't need a QB, you look elsewhere. There will be all but three players left when the Browns pick - no doubt one of them is going to be a star. But, even assuming Cleveland picks that one, they'll still be looking for their QB. If you've identified that QB, you take no chance that he goes elsewhere. You take the QB, and you get the rest of the pieces later. Have to give up that potential star WR for a QB that could potentially be a star, but carries a little more risk that he's awful? Do it. Because hitting that lottery number is more important.

Again, if you think you've got the winning ticket, go. If not, look somewhere else. But if they take a QB at #4, it's not because they're reaching, it's because they think they have their guy.

Sammy, your weighting scale example is perfect. However, the point values you assigned to the positions is ludicrous. Are you trying to tell us that, if the QB position is rated as a 10, then the position primarily assigned the task of chasing him down is only rated as a 1 ? And, the WR position (primarily responsible for catching passes thrown by the QB) is only worth a 5 ?

How convenient that is in order to make your case.

    I submit the following positional rankings (assumes a right handed QB);

    Now, using YOUR player rankings (some of which I don't agree with);

    Jadeveon Clowney - 10 X 9 = 90
    Greg Robinson - 9 X 7 = 63
    Jake Matthews - 8 X 7 = 56
    Sammy Watkins - 6 X 8 = 48 <-- I would rank him as a 7 along with Mike Evans. 7 X 8 = 56
    Johnny Manziel - 5 X 10 = 50
    Blake Bortles - 4 X 10 = 40

You mean like Eli Manning? or Joe Flacco? or (wait for it) Trent Dilfer ?
