He has to. If he isn't on the roster for, I think, at least 6 games then he doesn't get credited for the season and he ends up under contract again next year for Pittsburgh. He'll show up, the question will be when

Wrong again young buckaroo. They did want to pay him but he refused on what many said was a fair deal. Starting RG & RT were out. You have been advised.....again lol

Ok. I'll bite my tougue on Conner this week. He did have a good run at the end and they won

He doesn't need the season and the steelers could tag him again at the same rate but why would they? They could instead use the money to bring in pieces or work out a sign and trade.

If they tagged and traded him, he could work out a deal with the team and we could land a first rd pick.

  6. Lyman "Franchise Asshole" Browns Buckeyes

They have ALREADY tagged him. He refuses to sign the tag. Therefore, he's not under contract and CANNOT be traded !!!

I’m going to break my own rule and make an assumption: the people saying trade him mean when he signs the tag then trade him. Could be wrong, common sense isn’t very common these days

I was talking about next season If he sat out All season.

  9. ravens_R_#1 Legend Ravens

The same applies. If he were to sit out all of this season, he'd go into next season the exact same way he came into 2018. The Steelers either let him walk, or they tag him again. And he could again refuse to sign the tag and bring everything right back to where it is now

But if we have a trade in place and he is happy with what the other team is offering, he would sign the tender.

    One more time, Gid . . .

NFL tampering rules PROHIBIT teams from talking to players - or their agents - if that player is not a free agent (which Bell isn't). So . . . If a team can't put an offer in place, how would they come up with a deal that would make Bell happy?

  12. Jeanquev Legend Steelers

They could before tagging him next season give him permission to talk to teams and do a sign and trade.

Maybe he wants to “retire a Steeler”. Tag/Sit/Rinse/Repeat

    Is he retiring today

If Bell shows up week 10 and then is subsequently suspended for team violations, would he accrue his year of service?

  17. gidion72 Legend Steelers

No because If he was suspended a whole season he wouldn’t accrue a year of service. So if he sat out ten games then got suspended he wouldn’t meet the minimum of 6 games.

but they better have a solid reason for the suspension otherwise the union would get involved

This is the road Bell has chosen, just looking at the missing guard rail.

Team violations wouldn’t stop him from accruing his season in the league. I thought you meant a league suspension. Teams still have to pay you if they suspend you, so you accrue.
