If I did the grades like this last year I would have ignored Wentz. What did they do with what they had? I factor in Jernigan a little bit since it was a trade down in the same offseason, but it wouldn't have been too much of a factor. It could have even hurt if it took them from getting a good corner to reaching for one, for example, if I felt it was important enough. Obtaining future picks, especially if it's an early one and it didn't hurt their draft is always a big plus. Giving up future picks in puzzling ways hurts as well. I'm not trying to argue here, as I said it's a valid view, just trying to make you see what I am using.
Joe, I have a question for you. Before I ask, please know I haven't read threads prior to this year on the general draft. With that being said. I am assuming you do this each year. If I am wrong please correct me. How many years does a team get credit for trades? ie. Carson Wentz or even the Cleveland Browns passing on Carson Wentz. It appears when the "experts" grade drafts they give an A because team A trades up to draft a player. Then the next year, team A gets credit again for what they did the year before because they don't have a first round pick this year. Do you downgrade the Cleveland draft because of passing on Wentz or another player to stockpile picks this year? Not trying to stir up anything, but it always appeared to me if a team made a trade they get credit for multiple years because of that one trade.
Read back as long as your are not the Pats or Browns you get a fair ranking. If you are the Eagles or Bills you get a bonus
This is the first time I am doing it this way. I am not trying to use past years at all. And did Spress get drunk before the basketball game?
Was wondering about that. So far you're saying exactly the same thing about half the teams in the league...
My schedule has been crazy: Smoke two joints in the morning Smoke two joints at night Smoke two joints in the afternoon to make it to the night Smoke two joints before I smoke two joints to make sure everything come out alright.
Heads up I WILL be continuing this tonight. The time off has allowed me time to reorganize my thoughts and I have made some changes to the rankings I had for the top 16. Raiders are still next as alluded to earlier but the top 16 is where I really start to like the draft classes
I get that the Raiders didn't draft with excellence and I thought their were better players available at every slot. The draft can make you fall in love with a player and it hurts in the end all. I would have ranked their draft the same. Some long attitude and injury risks.
Just the top 10 left now. A certain couple of teams still haven't shown up yet. Will I be a homer? Does even having them this far make me one already? Tune in next time.
No offense Joe, but when it starts to take months, instead of days to finish...most would rather just see the results instead of quippy posts, I assume, this is meant to have everyone on pins and needles. In the time it took to write that, you could have finished another one. You did say, they were done, they just needed copied over here, right?
Valid assumption but no. The order is done. I said I was tweaking things. I actually was busy as hell before and I totally forgot when I did have free time thanks to our draft distracting me. I've been typing them from scratch. That being said I am banging out the last 10 all at once this morning just to get it over with. I don't want to drag it on any more either.
A better assessment of the Bills draft compared to others I've seen. The QB is, as usual, the key to the success or failure of this draft. Allen is a big boom-or-bust player. If he becomes a stabilizing long term starter then every other pick could bust and this draft would be alright. If he fails, then it won't matter what the rest do. I had Allen in my mocks - not that I like him that much - but because I bought it that he was the Bills guy. I actually liked Josh Rosen the most, and thought he'd be off the board. The fact that the Bills passed on Rosen could be the subplot of this draft evaluation. (Although his reaction to dropping reminded me - in a bad way - of that NY Jets pick who I've already forgotten his name.) I never expected Edmunds would also wear a Bills hat - crazy good pick. I like some of the others too. But it's up to Josh Allen (and maybe the Josh that got away) to write the story of the Bills '18 draft.
