Agree who cares who a guy cheers for in a different sport. Now if harper were seen at a mets game sporting mets gear and openly cheering them on then maybe there would be something to harp about.
I really didn't know what thread to even put this in...this is quite an allegation!! Had anyone ever heard anything like this, or is Mendenhall just really bitter?
I think ben is an absolute piece of garbage, a fake, a rapist, a narcissist, and a liar. At the same time, I honestly never got or felt any inkling that he's racist. Wasn't or isn't he great friends with Willie Colon and Max Starks? He certainly may be, but this sounds like another one of a billion cases of someone throwing around the word "racist" where it's not applicable.
This is the guy who spoke nicely about Osama Bin Laden after he was killed so there's that. He's said some pretty crazy things in the past. Pouncy, Starks, Colon, have all said they were great friends. Shoot, at one time even Brown has said they were friends. An a**hole? sure, definitely can believe it. Rapist? Little too far for me, never charged, never arrested. The civil case that was settled the woman knew exactly what she was doing and was looking for a payday. Maybe Ben trashed him for his big fumble in the Super Bowl that killed the momentum they'd been building during a nice comeback attempt and never mentioned his pick 6 as a reason for losing. Pretty sure Ben publicly supported him though...
This is what Mendenhall said 3 hours after the racist comment...Just starting sh*t in an attempt to get people off Antonio's back and give him some support...messed up way to do so, sincerely wish Ben would go after him for slander after that, but he won't. Actually Ben has done a good job with how this offseason has been handled so far, basically by saying nothing and letting his former teammates implode, he doesn't look like half the problem they made him out to be.
Ben keeping his mouth shut? Imagine that? If he was like that in the first place we would probably still have Brown on the team. Don’t talk about your teammates Ben, unless you’re complimenting them.
Took an extremely early look at week on of the NFL schedule and noticed a few games that could be ripe for a surprise. The Texans/Saints match-up in New Orleans looks like the perfect kind of game for Houston to start off with a win that not a lot of people would pencil in. A fast defense to slow down the Saints offense and a Texans offense that is capable of explosive plays might be the perfect recipe for week one. The Dolphins/Ravens game in Miami feels like it should lean towards the fish early on. Jackson and company are implementing a new system so the well oiled rushing machine from last year may need a couple weeks to get rolling, and with Flores in Miami the Dolphins defense could be one of the more exciting units to watch this season. The Rams opening their season in Carolina feels like an early trap game. I can see a hard hitting affair that gets a little sloppy, where one or two explosive plays become the difference. Christian McCaffrey likely plays the hero role for the Panthers if they get the win. The last one on here that interests me and would probably be seen as the biggest upset of the weekend would be the game between the Jaguars and the Chiefs. I would be surprised if Kansas City went into Jacksonville and got drummed up, but it could shape up to be a closer game then what some expect.
Colts at Chargers (week 1) is a very intriguing game to me. I think both teams are in position to do some real damage this season. If Luck stays healthy, the Colts offense will put up some points. I cant wait to see how Paris Campbell does also. Big start for both teams, great match-up.
Week one has a lot of good looking games. The ones already mentioned plus the Steelers @ Patriots, Packers against the Bears
Really nice to have them early before they can become shitty. Mid-season the bad looking ones can turn out well but week 1 being meh only brings new season hype. Although it's nice if teams you know should be good don't meet before they are completely ready.
Houston goes 11-5, but loses the WC game... Gaines gets the axe. Tough crowd in the Texans organization. They really didn't give him much of a chance either.
That gave me a bit of a laugh. A lot of people thought they did some reaching in this year’s draft and I can’t help but wonder whether they deemed him unfit for the job as a result. Either that, or just the good ol’ GM vs Head Coach feud we often hear about, and maybe O’Brien has more influence in that front office. Still odd though...committing to him for 5 years and wielding the axe after 1
Obviously I'm biased, but I'm most looking forward to week 3 Sunday Night, in Cleveland....Goff vs. Mayfield. The atmosphere will be electric for that one.
I haven't gone beyond week 1 yet, but this game will definitely be a good measuring stick for Cleveland. The Goff/Mayfield angle may end up getting the hype, but the Rams and Browns have been at opposite ends of competitiveness for a couple seasons so seeing how they stack up against each other will have my interest.
After the SB, I’m not so sure that Goff hasn’t been exposed as a fraud. That defense of the Patriots wasn’t very good and the Rams made them look like the 1976 Steelers.
Calling Goff a fraud is a bit rough. Dude still had a really good season. And he's really young. He got exposed at times throughout the season but that's gonna happen to a guy still learning his craft. And he went up against a team that might be the best coached and more prepared football team the sport has ever seen.
Goff isn't a fraud. He's good but something happened to him at the end of last season and he had trouble getting his confidence and groove back. Entering the playoffs McVay seemed to dumb it down and then they won without too many contributions from him (insert run game and refs here). By the time he was actually needed as a passer more he wasn't ready to play an anti-patriots gameplan. He needed to be eased back into the more complicated passing calls but he wasn't and now that he was thrown in the fire him and the rest of the Rams couldn't handle it. I still think McVay failed Goff at the end of last season. He had to be more aware to get him back into form.
