We've had two "powerful" conversations surrounding the Bears on this board.. 1) Trubisky Franchise vs average 2) Mack overpaid roster crippler or franchise player that can effect a team similar to a QB.

Just goes to show, last night anyway, an average QB (that's my opinion) can help a team win games when they have a franchise player that lifts another position group. Without Mack, the Bears defense is top ten, they are talented without him. WITH Mack, they might gel to be the best defense in the entire league.

Just ask these QBs if defense wins championships:
    Denver version of Peyton Manning
Russell Wilson ( the same guy that is struggling now that the defense has been disbanded)
    Eli Manning
Ben Roethlisberger (won by his own hand, but won multiple because of his defenses)
    Joe Flacco
    Brad Johnson
    Trent Dilfer

Not all of these guys benefited from a great defense in the big game, but every one of them had the opportunity to even be there because of their defense.

I haven’t seen any Bears fans here try to advocate that Trubisky is a franchise QB.

Most fans on our board are very pessimistic about him at this time.

He isn’t Rick Mirer, however. That idiotic comment was shot down because it has zero merit.

I love when people troll then walk away crying with a bleeding ass when it doesn’t work out the way they wanted it to.

Mack does make the Bears defense that good. I don’t think they can be the best unit in football quite yet...there are some soft spots in the secondary.

But the pass rush is legit and they tackle very well.

The difference between Trubisky and the QBs that we’re average is most of those guys didn’t make critical mistakes. They weren’t awesome but most of them, at the very least, protected the football. I’m not convinced of Trubksky’s ability to do that yet.

  6. Yeah because 70% completion is almost exactly the same as 50% completion.

I mean who cares if the ratings have a 10 point difference between them.

    What's that you say? They're both 6'3"?

Well fuck you got me on that one!

6-10 vs 5-9 seem pretty similar......if winning games is your thing.

as a longtime ND fan, Mirer was great at ND. I still can't believe he was a bust in the NFL. Never thought he would be a bust. can't believe he didn't work out. now i was never impressed with ryan leaf and saw him play a lot. after he blew the Rose Bowl, i was done with him and chalked him to be a bust and i was right. and versus Peyton Manning? that was an easy draft pick for #1 overall.

  9. Oh my lucky stars did two rookies have similar records in their first sea- oh yeah they're exactly the same player for sure no question about it lets just cut this fucking bum before he gives the whole team scabies.

I'm sure you could pull the stats on at least a couple dozen different QBs and have them look the same on paper....does that mean they actually were similar? That's a pretty ignorant, and far too simplistic, way to look at things.

Trubisky looks a lot like Christian Ponder at this moment in time when you look at his physical attributes combined with what he's good at versus what he struggles with. And that's alarming because some experts compared him to Ponder when he was drafted.

I can’t find anyone anywhere saying they’re exactly the same player, or anything even remotely close to that even. Lighten up Francis.

Actually that’s basically what firehalo did on the Bears board.

    So.....yeah.

Lol, I’m not even the guy that originally compared Trubisky to Mirer, I’m the guy that poked fun of the sensitive nature of Bears fans on these boards.
As for Trubisky relative to anyone it’s so early it doesn’t matter and it’s no reason for anyone to get their panties in a wad.

Bearswillwin replied with a pretty good poignant post, credit where it’s due.

I'm happy for Bears fans that they are optimistic about Trubisky. It isn't your argument for him, it's your attitudes that make you annoying to every other fanbase. Just as we Browns fans annoy you all because of our over optimistic attitude about everything Browns despite the disparity we have endured for two decades.

As for jumping on halo and butt darting him (your example above, not mine, I really don't understand why you want to hump the guy until his anus bleeds, but to each their own). It's his opinion of the player.

Let's look at the two players:

Rick Mirer was 6-10 as a rookie, he had 2833 yards, 12 TDs and 17 INTs on a 56.4% completion.
Year two after two games he was 2-0, had 411 yards passing, 4 TDs and 0 INTs on 67% completion

Mitchell Trubisky was 5-9 as a rookie, he had 2564 yards, 9 TDs and 9 INTs on 61.2% completion.
Year two after two games he is 1-1, has 371 yards passing, 2 TDs and 2 INTs on 69.6% completion

It's a little early to call his opinion idiotic, isn't it?

I don't think Trubisky will end up like Mirer, that's my opinion. But, it doesn't mean his opinion is the wrong one. For the record, I think Trubisky falls somewhere between Mirer and Cutler.

We will all see several years from now.

  16. He reminds me more of Matt Hasselbeck.

Great. You must not read or comprehend well though because most Bears fan belonging to this forum aren't optimistic about him.

One, I like being the annoying fanbase. I wear that shit like a badge of honor.

Two, we have a reason to be at least a little optimistic. We've won a game recently.

And this is an opinion board. Which means when he shares his opinion....I'm allowed to share my opinion of his opinion. Right? Great, glad we can agree on that.

It's never too early to call anyone an idiot. Outside of record, which is a team stat last I checked, those numbers aren't that similar. Furthermore...they aren't even entirely accurate because Trubisky had 7 TD's and 7 INT's last year, not 9. He had 2193 yards, not 2564. And he was 4-8, not 5-9. His completion percentage was 59.4, not 61.2.

But hey....at least you spelled his name right. Pat yourself on the back.
