Wentz may not even be able to win a SB even if he was totally healthy. Take it from a Steelers fan, SB winning QBs don't grow on trees. The Steelers have more Lombardi trophies than any other team. Foles not only won the SB but was the reason that the Eagles won. I would take Foles on the Steelers if Ben retired right now. I would take Foles over Wentz if they offered either one my choice.

bc Big Ben is near the end of his HOF Career and your backup QB is not very good. I posted a fictional scenario I saw on FB of if Cleveland offered 2 picks and Myles Garrett for Wentz - would you take it? I think Carson Wentz's future is not as sealed as other Eagles fans think it is. Many are saying he will be here 10 yrs nd our franchise QB. Again, the knee has to hold up in camp FIRST and then a grueling 4 month NFL schedule, that will be very difficult, as reigning Champs, and every year after that. He will take a lot more hits to that knee. I am not dealing Foles before training camp to see Wentz's knee and mobility and cutting capabilities. That's my 2 cents on it.

The odds are seriously stacked against Wentz ever winning a SB. The people in Philadelphia are going to be seriously in shock if Foles is traded and goes on to do something nice for another team while Wentz only manages a Philip Rivers type of career.

Injury aside.....why? He's surrounded by talent...Eagles are solid on both sides of the ball. They have a really good coach.

Talking about a guy that threw 33 TDs against just 7 INTs in 13 games. His completion percentage needs to improve but outside of that he's 25 with a bright future.

The only question with Wentz is that knee. More and more players are currently making great recoveries from such injuries. A focus on being in the pocket more could possibly make him a better QB.

Cat is right with keeping Foles until you know where Wentz is....but to say Wentz can't or won't win a SB is kinda silly. Foles didn't single handedly win a championship.

The big difference is Fole's/Wentz's surrounding cast. Rivers NEVER had one as good across the board (offense and defense) as Philly did this past year.

Foles didn't get any help from the defense.
Dan Marino had 48 TDs and 5000 yards how many championships did he win that year. BWW you better get back to your Mensa club so they can pump your flat brain back up. You people act like multiple QBs on the same roster go on to win SBs. Steve Young is the only QB to win a SB after watching a teammate win one for that same team.

He had little to no help from the defense in the SB. But you do realize they played a lot of games before the SB, yeah? And the defense came up with the games most crucial stop when they needed to at the very end.

Because Steve Young is the only QB to do that...means it can’t possibly happen? I don’t follow.

Eagles have a really good team...top to bottom. To declare there’s no chance for Wentz is silly.

bf they won the SB no one was saying much about the Philly Offensive Cast of characters -- They traded their #1 WR to Buffalo. A.Jeffery left Chicago on a 1 yr contract looking to produce with a better QB than the Bears had before he got a 4 yr extension after a fine first half in Philly. T. Smith was deemed too old and slow and wasn't doing much. Nelson Aghulor was almost cut and rebounded to have a solid year. Ertz was Ertz and his usual self. Rivers had some good WRs and one of the top TE in the game in A. Gates. SD just couldn't seem to put it all together for a SB run. Prior to the start of this season, the Eagles were predicted to finish 6-10 or at best 8-8 and not a deep playoff team, so the cast around the QB proved a lot of people wrong. None of them were a given to do a damn thing this past year.

But can't you say that about a number of Super Bowl winning teams?

Anyone have the Ravens turning in one of the great defenses in history to win the Super Bowl after going 8-8 the year before?
Rams were 4-12 in 1998, then one of the great offenses in '99 to win it.
Patriots were 5-11 in 2000, won the Super Bowl in 2001.
Giants were 8-8 in 2006, won it all in 07.
Saints were 8-8 in 2008, won it all the next year.

And you act like since this was a rare occasion in the past, it's going to stay that way. No, Wentz isn't guaranteed anything, but to use that as an excuse why is silly. Out of a hundred reason why Philly might not win it all again next year, that's #102.

I guess but I wasn't thinking of other teams.

The point is that it is very rare no matter how good the QBs are. Also BWW you would have a better argument if you mentioned the Redskins. I just realized that they probably had a QB on their roster that won a SB later as their starter. Anyway you want to state it. Unless you are Tom Brady most teams don't even have that great of a chance to win multiple championships with the same future HOF QB in place let alone changing QBs after you won one with a SB MVP. Foles played a great game in the SB against the greatest coach of our lifetime since Lombardi. There are no guarantees that Wentz can even get to the SB.

Jeff Hostetler was on the 86 giants when Simms won the SB 21 and then Hostetler was the starter to win SB 25. In fact in very similar fashion to what the eagles did Simms started the season 11-3 befro getting hurt. Hostetler then came in finished the regular season 2-0 and went on to go 3-0 in the post season.

Unless I missed one none of the Redskins SB winning qbs were on the roster during the other SB wins.

There are no guarantees anyone can get to the SB. I’m not sure what your argument just turned into. I must not be on good enough drugs.

His point is once you have a QB win you a SB the way Foles did you ride that horse till its legs fall off

  17. BearsWillWin Drunk (Probably) Patreon Champion Manager Bears Blackhawks Cubs

How many teams have won a SB with a backup QB playing the way Foles did all while having a guy like Carson Wentz coming back from an injury?

To pretend you can look back at history here and predict the future is just kinda silly.

Cat had the best idea. Hold on to Foles...but the job belongs to Wentz.

I don't need history to look at I can look at the fact that Foles just won the SB IMHO you give him the job nest year and Wentz rides the pine.

The Eagles won the Super Bowl.

In terms of ability, potential, and on field play there is really little doubt that Wentz is a better QB.

  20. Jeanquev Legend Steelers

Doesnt mean he can win a SB. Foles proved he can play on the biggest stage Wentz might get there and crap his pants.
