  1. Torgo M.V.P. Manager Falcons

The interesting thing is Ryan Poles might choose to trade down from the #1 pick again this year. No doubt Atlanta would be a media favorite as a potential trade partner. I'm not sure if Terry Fontenot would be willing to pay that steep of a price though. I have to say I wouldn't do it.

The other huge question is the profile of QB that they will want. All the media hype about trading for Lamar Jackson last year or Justin Fields now was mainly because Arthur Smith was the head coach, and his system was built on mobility. The next coach might not be so big on the dual threat QB though. But if they do want to keep going that route, Jayden Daniels seems like the no-brainer target. And if they do need to move up a bit to grab him, the price tag should be a lot more reasonable than moving all the way up to #1.

I can't stress it enough though... GET A FULL TIME QB COACH. And preferably a full time assistant QB coach as well. One guy to work with the QBs on the X's and O's (like my man Charles London did as QB coach here before Tennessee hired him away) and then someone dedicated to footwork, maintaining balance, mechanics, etc.

The Rams, lead by Stafford, are going to Detroit to take on the Lions is an interesting playoff game. I believe Stafford can and will tear that secondary up and I wouldnt mind at all.

Well, I am getting a big helping of crow to eat... Sometimes, it might not be the playcalling, but rather the guy that has to implement the play.

I have been harping for two seasons about Stefanski giving up play calling. I have always liked him as a HC, but have had issues with the plays being called... Well, Stefanski is still calling plays in 2023 and I was still yelling until they picked up a 38 year QB off his couch... now all of a sudden the plays being called are moving the chains. I can't imagine Stefanski's play calls for Deshaun Watson, our $230M man is different than a 38 year old journeyman QB that hasn't played since last season. I would assume they had more confidence in Watson than they would in the $75k per game QB they brought in for emergencies. Either that, or Flacco just said fuck it and ignored Stefanski and ran his own plays...which I highly doubt happened.

So, in the end, I admit to probably being wrong about Stefanski's play calling and placing even more of the blame on the most important position in football.

I hope you get the right coaching staff in there, but at the end of the day, you most likely need a different QB to run the plays being sent in. Which is sad, because I really thought Ridder was going to be a much better than average QB. Not necessarily top 5, but more than just a serviceable arm. Serviceable arm in this league gets a coaching staff fired.

Don't look now, but the Lions pass defense is worse than the Rams defense in every category but INTs. This could be one of those "fuck me" moments when a team owner puts his hands in the air and asks why a trade was made. I never put the blame of the Rams on Goff. That's what happened with the ownership there though.

If you look at the two QBs careers, they are very similar in ability and most of the stats show it.

At the end of the day, the Lions got a willing QB in Goff to run a team that received Goff, Jameson Williams, Jahmyr Gibbs and Sam Laporta... Now they are cooking with gas

The Rams gave up the rights to those 3 draft picks and won a single Super Bowl with Stafford, and have been declining the past two seasons from that one season. Who's to really say that they couldn't have won that Super Bowl with Goff in the same circumstances? I haven't dove into the before and after of the entire roster, but we do know the additions that were made to the Lions directly resulting in the trade and the Lions seem to be in a much better position is 2023/2024 with Goff and company than the Rams seem to be in the same season with Stafford and company. This is a very interesting game that everyone seems to be interested in watching. Personally, I hope the Lions destroy the Rams, but that's probable because I see them as a similar franchise to the Browns.

Im still on the trade Tomlin train and no squeezing into the playoffs has not changed this opinion. I was recently debating why he should be fired elsewhere amd my point is simce losing the SB to Green Bay Tomlin has been average as have the Steelers. He quickly brought up the streak and when I said Tomlin hasnt sniffed a SB since the green bay loss. He procedded to say well it took Cowher 14 years to win one were you ready to fire him. The answer of course is no because while he didnt have a non loosing streak he was more impressive than Tomlin. As luck would have it Cowhere had 13 years before he won a SB and Tomlin has now gone 13 years since he last lost a SB so it sets up for an easy yet interesting comparrison. Granted we dont know the playoff results for tomlins 13 yet but unless he pulls off a mircle and wins the SB it wont matter.

So 13 years with Tomlin hasnt had a losing season equates to
    130-79-2 winning percentage of .616
    3-7 in the playoffs
    1 AFC championship game apperance
4 times 1 and done in the playoffs
Missed the playoffs 5 times (if not for the 2000 expansion he would have missed again this year)

Then there is Cowhere who during his first 13 years had 3 losing seasons how pathetic
To borrow from lee corso not so fast my friend
    130-77-1 .625 winning percentage
    8-9 in the playoffs
5 AFC championship apperances with 1 win
1 SB apperance sadly a loss
    1 and done twice
    Missed the playoffs 4 times.

Take it for what you will.

Yeah. There's lots of places where Tomlin may want to go. Get something for

    Agree.

This is why I agree. Every time Cowher coached a team to the playoffs, I felt like he had the ability to coach them to a SB win. After 92 and 93, every time they got to the playoffs, they win a game. Tomlin seems happy just to get there. Cowher was never happy. I wish they would've invested in a franchise QB earlier, but it's safe to say what his success was when he had Ben.

In the end, i think Tomlin is a good coach. He just seems tired. There's no fire until his back is against the wall. They were 7-7 and then, all of the sudden, they're world beaters(I know the level of opposition wasn't all that). He needs to motivate more consistently. Maybe a new setting helps him do that.

They said during the game that the Texans were 2nd in the NFL in drops. When you look at CJ's numbers, its amazing to think what they would have been if guys hang on to the ball.
