I wonder that too. Put Peyton Manning behind the Houston Texans line that basically shortened David Carr's lifespan....does he still go on to become Peyton Manning? Manning also had the security blanket of handing the ball off and throwing 86 receptions to Marshall Faulk. The talent around you, the coaching, changing systems because coaching changes...all that definitely plays a role. I like to think talent rises to the top....but part of me has a really strong feeling that had the Bears drafted Mahomes instead of Trubisky that we'd be calling him a bust too.
I think its a little of both. He has talent but i think the bears are trying to force a square peg in a round hole with him. Yes they surrounded him with some talent but the iffense needs to be built to his strengths and i dont think they are doing that. On his end i think he needs to mature a little sure he is frustrated but either own what you say or dont say it at all. Not sure what they have left but the could try shopping him to the jets.
Football is a team game, despite what the media storylines and cap space allocations tell you. A QB doesn't change anything alone. You need talent around that player, and a coaching staff that knows how to get that talent ready to play on / through gameday. You can have varying degrees of all these pieces, but they all need to be there. The Bears have neither talent on offense nor the coaching staff. And thus, the QB is going to play like shit, and likely be irreparably damaged. I said it the day he was drafted, that he has to survive this team long enough for them to surround him with the right talent. Little did I know that that was going to be a lot longer than anyone could reasonably be asked to outlast.
With Olave, Thomas and Shaheed, I thought they would have made Carr look like Dan Marino or something, but it isnt happening.
Dolphins game may be over by halftime they praying no injuries in the second half. They keep scoring and the 4th quarter may be all backups
Second week in a row of spotlighting the Saints for some closer looks. So many questionable decisions, bailed out throws and outright boulders...
Now I feel like an asshole cause he's down, but he should have gotten rid of that ball to the underneath cross way before the pressure got to him.
Miami should have gone for the record. At least tie it. That’s a once in a lifetime opportunity and they screwed the pooch on it.
Since Claypool has shown no willingness to block, converting him to TE is pointless. Since Claypool has shown no willingness to catch the fucking football, keeping him as a receiver is pointless. Can he kick?
