Buddy, you've got this very very backwards. It is the Lions who are the frauds. When you can barely beat teams like the Rams, Bears, Jags & nose-diving Vikings twice, and yet still hold a 9-4 record..... you are in fact a fraud.
This may well be true tim, but remember, this is the Saints we're talking about. Whenn bobby hebert first showed up half the stadium used to arrive wearing a brown bag over their heads. They're just glad of the championship. And frankly as a Bears fan im not sure i blame them heh.
It's close but I believe Matt Ryan is the MVP ahead f Tom Brady. Stats outside INTs have me going Ryan and if we go with importance the Pats could deal without Brady but Ryan was getting it done without Julio. As for the RBs I think David Johnson has been the best back of them all but Elliott and Bell are going to get the votes due to team success and run average but looking at everything including the role on the team I'd have Johnson then Elliott. Or can I say #1 is a Dallas OL to represent the unit?
The MVP question is a good one and I like your thoughts on it. I would have Rodgers above Brady this year and I would probably have to go with Aaron over Matt. David Johnson get consideration if he manages to break the 1000/1000 mark but it's a long shot.
Aaron has been great and he's running the table now to get them to control their destiny. Now I'm not gonna say it's as he called it as he lost once or twice since he said it and then had the winning streak. But as much as I love Aaron (and Johnson) thanks to my dynasty team (lol) I can't give it to him over Ryan. They've both been pretty crucial and while I see the argument in GB without a RB, Matt has a higher completion %, more yards, more yards per attempt, same amount of INTs, and a higher QB Rating. Aaron has a couple more TDs (and a few rushing scores), but not enough to be on top, even with this late run at the playoffs/division. Matt has a possible bye due to him.
Or maybe they will get votes because they deserve them. I get it you have a huge man crush on Johnson but dont dismiss what Eliott and Bell mean for their teams. The Cowboys and Steelers are where they are because of Elliot and Bell.
I think this can be true, and the opinion of him being somewhat of a failure can be true at the same time. There's no doubt that New Orleans' fans are appreciative of Sean Payton bringing home a Lombardi and ridding them of the stigma of perceived 'losers' but all things considered there should have been more deep playoff runs, more winning seasons and a better overall record over the last several years. Having a franchise quarterback with weapons in today's NFL is probably the single biggest foundation block to win with immediately.
That's not the context I meant. I never said they don't deserve their votes. I am just saying that Johnson will likely be overlooked from this compared to them because of the team success.
Bell's suspension means there will be and should be no consideration for him this season. You're not your teams most valuable player if what you do personally gets you sidelined for a 1/4 of the year. Same goes for Brady.
Under achieving ?? I wouldn't go that far. You could do a lot worse than hiring him. Did he make the Saints a better team ?? Hard to say, but he didn't make them worse. His head is more on the offensive side of the ball, no doubt. And IMO, he likes to throw the ball too much. But when it comes to some of his play calling ??? There's never a dull moment.
It's not about doing worse than other coaches that may have been available. It's more about his inability to succeed at a high level consistently. He's currently 58-54 without Gregg Williams. In the past three seasons the Saints have not had a winning record at any point in the schedule. The talent has been there but the inability to make necessary changes in scheme on both offense and defense have yielded too many squandered opportunities.
Offensively for the most part they have been fine. Sure they have a down game here or there and they are not the same team outdoors as they are in but that is true for most dome teams. The defense has been horrible but how much of that is due tot he money tied up in Brees. I think he is around 20% of their cap. You needa QB but you cant let him crush your cap space like that.
Does Steve Smith have a shot at the Hall? He doesn't have the numbers Marvin Harrison had but, I'd go to war with Steve Smith any day over Marvin Harrison. Harrison was a dog in the playoffs and Steve Smith is a big game player. Had to respect him a lot after he destroyed Aqib Talib both mentally and physically on Monday Night Football a few years ago even though it was vs the Patriots "ice up son."
My fav possible Wildcard game is Packers vs Giants but I'd have Packers @ Seahawks & Giants @ Lions over Lions @ Seahawks & Giants @ Packers
Sure looking like a Patriots and Cowboys Super Bowl is very possible. Its probably the best game scenario possible also.
Pats will waltz into the AFC Championship Game. No way either the Texans or the Carr-less Raiders stand a chance in New England. Steelers or KC each have a chance, whichever team makes it that far. Dolphins should get knocked out next week, provided the Steelers don't lay an egg at home...always a possibility...
Jay Ajayi is the wildcard here. He won't always be able to help but he can get past the Steelers with decent QB play if they can't stop him. He had over 200 yards rushing earlier in the year against them. And if Tannehill is back for New England I'd at least give them a shot, although I wouldn't bet on them to win.
The Steelers defense is better. They've moved from near the bottom to the middle of the pack. This is the 1st time Ben, Bell and Brown will play a playoff game together. The Steelers are tuff at home and the weather is supposed to around 20 degrees. The defense also remembers Ajayi and don't like it, plus Ben had an injured leg during a lot of the game.......The only possibility for Miami is if the Steelers lay an egg......
That is a bit homerish. One person will say the D remembers Ajayi, the other will say Ajayi destroyed the D. If you had to use one as a point it would be the second one. Not that the Steelers D couldn't put him in check, especially without Tannehill.
