Such a simplistic view. The Patriots didnt lose to the NYG because Tom Brady lost them the games. He didnt play particularly well in those games but he didnt lose them the game and in his SB wins he didnt single handedly win them either.
Could you point out where I ever said he single handedly lost the the games? Read the actual words instead of trying to make up what you think I’m saying.
so i dont want to come off as a sensitive Pats fan, im just tired of the regurgitated nonsense that the media drives in to people's heads..........one of those topics is that the only way to beat Tom Brady is by pressuring him....."look at the Giants, blah blah blah". 10/1 are the teams that have lost to Brady by selling out to pressure him than ones that have actually beaten him. the Rex Ryan Jets were probably the best at shutting down Brady and they did so by an entire team gameplan. sure it starts with d-line pressure and then goes in to a mix of zone/man that Brady had trouble picking up. having Revis was probably the biggest advantage. thethe Jets then ran the ball and clock when given the opportunity and did very well vs. Brady in those years.
Wait... so in the 2007 season the Patriots averaged 37 points per game. Brady was sacked 21 times all season. He had a passer rating of 117.2 and a yards per attempt of 8.3. The Giants sacked him 5 times in the SB, hit him another 5 with 24 total pressures and that WASN'T the reason the Patriots scored 14 points, had a passer rating of 82.5 and a yards per attempt of 5.54? That's your theory? It wasn't the 24 total pressures?
how's this- I'm having trouble finding anything else that you've written that has contributed to Tom Brady losses in this thread.
lol, it's that the Giants outplayed the Patriots and took advantage of their opportunities. i'm not at all saying that getting pressure on the qb wont contribute to winning but thats because it's a given and im speaking with adults.
So saying pressure Brady and you can beat him, something that history proves, means I said he single handedly lost? Maybe...just maybe....it means you can beat him with pressure.
Twist and pull all the words you like. Some QBs play better than others when pressured. And it's not some giant secret or made up conspiracy. Brady has never done well with pressure in his face. He likes to step up into the pocket. Teams that have been able to execute that game plan have had success against him. Obviously, many teams over the years have failed to do it.
More data that I'm sure will get ignored: Tampa Bay Pressures Allowed 2020 Week 1 - 13 total pressures Week 2 - 5 total pressures Week 3 - 6 total pressures Week 4 - 8 total pressures Week 5 - 18 total pressures Week 6 - 5 total pressures Week 7 - 3 total pressures In which weeks did the Bucs have their lowest point totals? In which weeks did the Bucs lose?
What the media has said about beating Brady is partially true. The trick isn’t simply to pressure him, but to pressure him with as few people as possible. Pretty sure they mostly said the way to beat Brady is to get pressure up the middle using only four men, ala what the Giants were able to do with the first Super Bowl. As a Steelers fan, I’ve seen Brady against 5-6 men blitzes and dink and dunk up and down the field all game long and put up 30-40 points while doing it. If you sent numbers at him, he got the ball out under 3 seconds and no one would touch him. Giants were able to get consistent pressure with 4, and took away those hot passes. They pushed the pocket and Tuck and Strahan were afforded enough time to get to Brady. It certainly isn’t as simple as pressure Brady, more like get pressure with 4 and take away the hot routes that Welker was particularly good at RAC. Rush more than 4 and Brady to Welker were a lethal combination. Also helped when he had Gronk in his prime who could out jump and out muscle damn near every one. Brady is one of the best QBs in history for a reason, it took damn near perfect game plans and execution to beat him.
"Brady has never done well with pressure in his face" is straight up garbage that you've been fed over and over. it's middle school drivel that NFL talking heads spew. it's quite obviously not that simple guys. cover his receivers and backs which will allow you to get pressure on him, own the clock and keep him on the sideline, get your points when you can and then simply outscore him. and there is clearly much more to it than that but "get pressure on him" is just so tired and simple.
You are conflating getting pressure and blitzing. No one said blitzing is the answer, although at times it has been.
do you think im upset? calm down, lol. you must come up with these original 13 year old takes on your own.
I agree with that. But even on those lists, you would see a certain QB at or near the bottom one year, and then at or near the top the following year. Pressure effects every QB, but obviously one's surrounding cast can make a big difference. I've always believed that the more times you hit the QB, the better your chances of forcing a mistake. Yes the Giants did a great job defending Brady in the SB. That's football....I just don't take that and make the declaration that TB is always bad under pressure. What QB would have been good facing 5 sacks and 24 pressures? (or whatever the numbers were)
There's a difference between the media blindly regurgitating a take and observations that can be backed up with years of analytics.
