Here is a fun story about the man who's going to run the Eagles offense... PHILADELPHIA (AP) ? New Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz says he became trapped in a bathroom of a New Jersey gas station and had to be rescued. Wentz tweeted out Wednesday night that he had to be rescued by attendants with garden sheers and another person with a "leg kick" after he became locked in a bathroom. WNBC-TV reports his comments was retweeted thousands of times and elicited numerous social media responses, including memes and gifs. The Eagles traded up in April to draft Wentz at second overall. It wasn't immediately known where the gas station is located in New Jersey. ______________ _________________________ Good Luck Philly !
based on that? i seem to remember a big kid out of Miami U of Ohio that people didn't think was going to make it. 2 Super Bowls later and he's probably headed to Canton! Give the kid a chance.
Was listening to the talking heads discuss this story this morning on 97.5 The Fanatic. Couple of the hosts just laughed about it, but the main host - Anthony Gargano - was almost at the point of tears in disappointment and disbelief.
I know - he was practically ready to propose to Sam Bradford after his pre-season game against Green Bay last year. Beyond that, his lisping makes it tough (for me) to listen to him for more than 15 minutes at a time.
that and he calls everyone "cuz." i said it many times bf - any good sports fan with a solid knowledge base could do sports radio and be as good as the highest paid ones out there. Missennelli, Cataldi and and Gargano prove it.
Yeah. Speaks volumes that I yearn for the days when 97.5 used to broadcast ESPN's "Mike & Mike" show mornings. To me, the only truly great talking head at either The Fanatic or 94WIP is Ray Didinger.
Fixed it for you... I do think Wentz has a better than average chance at success. I certainly don't think a faulty door/lock on a bathroom at a gas station will determine anything he does in the NFL...This is ludicrous.
well Joe Flacco came from the University of Delaware and has had a nice career, a SB Title, as well as alum and former St. Joe Prep star- Rich Gannon. And hell - where did Jerry Rice go to college? Jackson State or something like that. The best WR ever and he came from D II school. I mean, all the bust from top schools, so does it really matter? Get the kid a good O-Line and some WRs with hands and lets see what he can do. My only beef was what the Eagles gave up for him. As for him - the canvas is wide open for him to succeed or fail. It's on him and the team now...
Ravens QB Flacco eager to return for training camp OWINGS MILLS, Md. (AP) ? Joe Flacco played the unaccustomed role of spectator at the Baltimore Ravens minicamp this week, watching from afar while Ryan Mallett ran the first-team offense. Flacco played in 122 straight games ? the fifth-longest streak for a quarterback in NFL history ? before tearing the ACL and MCL in his left knee during the fourth quarter of a win over St. Louis. He was placed on injured reserve on Nov. 24 and underwent surgery soon after that. He is now in recovery mode, with the hope of being ready for the start of training camp in late July. "I expect to be on the field for the first day," Flacco declared Thursday. During the three-day mandatory minicamp that ended Thursday, Flacco alternatingly rehabilitated his knee and watched practice with owner Steve Bisciotti in a golf cart. "It hasn't been a bad thing," the quarterback said. "It's been a time to rest and get better." Far worse was watching his teammates during the final six weeks of Baltimore's 5-11 season. Flacco's run of consecutive games began at the outset of his rookie year in 2008 and extended deep into his eighth pro season. "I wanted to be the guy who played 15, 16, 17 years and didn't miss a snap," Flacco said. "I had to come to grips with it pretty quickly because it was my reality. That was the toughest part, not being able to be on the field with the guys for the last six games."
Miller makes it clear he'll sit out 2016 if no deal is done ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) ? The Denver Broncos' summer break began with an ominous message from superstar Von Miller. The Super Bowl MVP suggested he'll sit out the 2016 season if general manager John Elway doesn't meet his contract demands over the next month. One day after saying on Chelsea Handler's new Netflix show that there was no way he'd consider skipping the season, Miller posted a photo on Instragam and said: "I love my Teammates, Coaches, and My Fans" but there is "No Chance" I play the 2016 season under the Franchise tag." If the sides can't agree on a long-term extension by July 15, Miller would have to play this season on the franchise tag of $14.129 million ? or he could choose to sit out the season altogether. If he played for the tender, the Broncos could use their exclusive franchise tag on him again next year, putting him in the same situation. If he didn't suit up in 2016, they'd only be able to use a non-exclusive franchise tag on him in 2017. That would allow other teams to swoop in and offer him a megadeal that would be difficult for Denver to match. That's a risky proposition, a superstar missing a season in his prime and watching his popularity and marketability take a hit. But playing on a one-year deal could also prove hazardous to Miller should he get hurt. The offseason began with Miller declaring 12 hours after the Super Bowl in which he starred that his contract negotiations would be peaceful. Acrimony set in last week, however, when the team leaked details of its offer that Miller's camp rejected. The six-year, $114.5 million offer included $38.5 million in guarantees over the first two seasons, far below the going rate for elite players. The Broncos offered a third year at $19.5 million that would only kick in after the 2017 season. Miller wants that third year fully guaranteed from the start. His price assuredly has risen in the last week, too, because a couple of days after the negotiations between Miller and the Broncos hit a standstill, Eagles defensive lineman Fletcher Cox signed a six-year extension that runs through 2022 and includes $63 million in guarantees. That's the most ever for a non-quarterback. And he'll get $55 million of that within the first nine months because a big portion of the guaranteed money kicks in a month after the next Super Bowl. This would seem to set both a new benchmark and blueprint for a megadeal with Miller, who was a one-man wrecking crew of Cam Newton in Denver's 24-10 win over the Carolina Panthers in the Super Bowl four months ago after clobbering Tom Brady in the AFC championship.
exactly. never heard of it until Rice went there. he's the greatest WR ever so you don't always have to go to Bama, Florida, FSU, Miami, OSU, ND, Michigan, USC, Stanford etc. Wentz may surprise us...
