Vikings sign safety Harrison Smith to five-year, $51.25 million contract extension. Smith is now the NFL's highest paid Safety.
Marshawn Lynch: 'I'm not playing football anymore' Marshawn Lynch won't return to the NFL. After cryptically tweeting a picturing of cleats hanging from a telephone wire during the Super Bowl, indicating his retirement, there has been rampant speculation about whether the notoriously fickle running back was truly finished. In an interview with 60 Minutes Sports, airing Tuesday, Lynch dismissed rumors that he could return -- specifically swatting down the idea he might want to play for his hometown Oakland Raiders. "No I'm done. I'm done," Lynch said. "I enjoyed my time playing, now it's time to watch my cousins do they thing." Even Lynch's agent, Doug Hendrickson, wouldn't unequivocally say the running back was completely done: "With Marshawn, I'll never say never." Lynch has yet to formally file his retirement papers, but was adamant when repeatedly asked if he would return to the NFL. "I'm retired," Lynch said. "Is that good enough? Which camera do you want me to look into? This one? I'm done. I'm not playing football anymore." (NFL.com)

Talib released from hospital... ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) ? Star cornerback Aqib Talib was released from a Dallas hospital on Monday amid reports suggesting he may have accidentally shot himself. Talib was discharged from Medical City Hospital after being treated for a gunshot wound to his right leg. He was returning to Denver after missing his teammates' visit to the White House on Monday to commemorate their win in Super Bowl 50. Although he didn't require surgery and the Broncos believe he will make a full recovery, it's unlikely Talib will practice again until training camp. The team's mandatory minicamp starts Tuesday and the final slate of offseason practices is next week. While police continue to investigate the shooting and have made no arrests in the case, KUSA-TV in Denver reported Monday that Talib has told people close to him he accidentally shot himself. That harkens to the case of former Giants wide receiver Plaxico Burress, who accidentally shot himself in the right thigh at a New York nightclub shortly after he won the Super Bowl. He served 20 months in prison on a gun charge. Talib told police he had been hanging out at a park with friends when he was shot early Sunday morning. But detectives are looking into whether Talib was actually shot at the Vlive nightclub where two other people were shot by an unknown suspect in a disturbance about the same time. WFAA-TV in Dallas said Talib told police he was too intoxicated to remember exactly what happened when he got shot. The bullet entered his right thigh and exited his right calf, according to the police report. Such a trajectory might suggest a self-inflicted wound.
Talib had stitches. It wasn't that bad........He'll be ready for training camp.......They still don't have a decent QB either......Some are not picking them to win the division.......
So basically Talib still has to wait and see what comes from the police investigation. He could still wind up with some kind of criminal charges and suspension. This sounds like a story that is far from fully developed.
When I first heard about it just seemed like something innocent but with every little detail that gets added it sounds more like pac-man Jones or Plexiglass Buress. The fact they are trying to link this to 2 people getting shot at a club doesn't bode well for Talib. If everyone remembers correctly, Talib had a lot of pax-mannish behavior his first couple of seasons in the league. That is why the Bucs shipped him off for pennies on the dollar type compensation.
Somebody hacked the NFL's official twitter account and announced that Goodell passed away. Then they were hacked again, and again.
Oh and some fan that met Goodell I think it's real. The neck looks a bit off but that is probably just a shadow or tan line.
Von Miller turns down $114M, Broncos reportedly break off contract talks So much for "real progress" in contract negotiations between Von Miller and the Broncos. Mike Klis of 9 News in Denver reports that contract talks between the Super Bowl MVP and Denver are off, with Denver having set a 10 p.m. (presumably MT, a.k.a. midnight for most people) deadline on Tuesday for Miller to accept a reported six-year, $114 million offer. Adam Schefter of ESPN first reported Wednesday the Broncos had made the offer -- with almost $40 million in guaranteed money during the first two years -- to Miller but there was "no deal in sight." With Miller declining, the Broncos yanked the offer and decided to move forward without a long-term contract for their superstar outside linebacker. Klis also reports issues with Ryan Clady and Demaryius Thomas created the impetus for Miller's moved-up deadline (teams have until July 15 to sign franchise-tag players). Both players missed offseason workouts before signing deals shortly before training camp. Clady tore his ACL just after signing and Thomas saw decreased production in 2015. We postulated what a Miller deal might look like when discussing his optimism on Tuesday -- it stands to reason Miller will want much more than Justin Houston got from the Chiefs ($101 million total) and could very well be looking for a contract in the range of Ndamukong Suh in terms of guaranteed money ($59 million). Miller is already "guaranteed" over $30 million the next two seasons if he plays on one-year contracts, so it's not like the Broncos are ponying up an excessive amount of extra cash here on this proposed deal. What it really comes down to is how much the total guarantee is and how much guaranteed money Miller will be looking at on the back end of the contract. (CBS)
Looks like Von Miller and Denver are still far apart on his contract. They offered him a 6 yr $114.5 M deal including nearly $40M gtd in 1st 2 yrs and he's still not signing. That's more than either Suh ($114M) and Watt ($100M). It might be that the guaranteed money is lower than the $50M for those guys, but who's to say.... ....maybe he's just waiting for his fax machine to break at the deadline and take a lesser contract "elsewhere"....ahem!

Via CBS Eagles wide receiver Nelson Agholor is being investigated for sexual assault following a trip to a gentleman's club in Philadelphia on Thursday. Philly police commissioner Richard Ross told Philadelphia Magazine that a dancer at Cheerleaders Gentleman's Club has accused Agholor of rape. "There was an allegation made against one of the [Eagles] players of a sexual assault that was reported by one of the female dancers," Ross said. "Our Special Victims Unit is actively running on the investigation." Agholor has not been charged with a crime. Although Ross didn't specifically name Agholor as the subject of the investigation, the Eagles did confirm that the he's the player that authorities are looking at. "We are aware of the police investigation involving Nelson Agholor," the team said in a statement. "The organization has been in contact with Nelson and with the proper authorities in Philadelphia. Because of the legal nature of this matter, we will have no further comment." The Eagles held their final practice of the offseason on Thursday and were cut loose after practice around 1 p.m. ET. According to Philadelphia Magazine, the alleged incident took place around 3 p.m. at the strip club, which is located just a few miles away from where the Eagles practice.
