Holy crap that's an old post lol.

 

Having a brand new CBA is part of it. Some teams had cleared extra cap space in advance and are now on shopping sprees, while other teams are more pressed against the cap and forced to make cuts or watch players walk. It happens every year, but it's more extreme this year with the new CBA leading to a cap figure that is lower than many people had anticipated. We saw the same thing in 2011.

 

With the Vikings cap problems it has caused nothing but chaos,and with players switching teams it's been a trip so far and yes FA has been crazy

 

Drew Brees has another weapon.

And the NFC South now has some of the best receiving corps in the NFL. The Bucs and new quarterback Tom Brady have Chris Godwin and Mike Evans. Julio Jones and Calvin Ridley play for the Falcons.

The Saints have Michael Thomas . . . and now Emmanuel Sanders.

Sanders, who ranks 64th on PFT’s list of top 100 free agents, has agreed to terms with the Saints. Adam Schefter of ESPN reports it’s a two-year, $16 million deal with a max value of $19 million.

Sanders, 33, had seven catches for 157 yards and a touchdown in the 49ers’ 48-46 win over the Saints in Week 14 last season.

The two-time Pro Bowler made 66 catches for 869 yards and five touchdowns in 2019 while splitting the season between Denver and San Francisco.

For his 10-year career, Sanders has 601 catches for 7,893 yards and 42 touchdowns.

Raiders continue to add veteran free agents, including Nelson Agholor



The Raiders have been busy stacking up veteran free agents, and added another pair Saturday.

According to Jerry McDonald of the Bay Area News Group, the Raiders have agreed to terms with wide receiver Nelson Agholor and offensive lineman Eric Kush.

The Eagles made no apparent effort to retain Agholor, their 2015 first-rounder. He missed five games last year, and caught 39 passes for 363 yards and three touchdowns.

Eagles add Will Parks to secondary



The Eagles made a big addition to their secondary when they traded for cornerback Darius Slay this week and they made a smaller move at safety on Saturday.

Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that the team has agreed to a contract with safety Will Parks. It’s a one-year deal for Parks.

Parks was a sixth-round pick of the Broncos in 2016 and has spent his entire career with Denver. He started 15 of the 62 games he played in Denver and also saw action on special teams.

Parks, who is a Philly native, has recorded 149 tackles, four interceptions, two forced fumbles, a fumble recovery and a sack over the course of his career.

The Eagles declined to pick up Malcom Jenkins’ 2020 option and re-signed Rodney McLeod in other moves at safety this week.

Kenyan Drake signs transition tender...

Cardinals running back Kenyan Drake is taking the bird in the hand, before it flies away.

Drake’s agents have announced that he has signed his transition tender. The one-year deal will pay Drake $8.48 million for 2020.

Drake could have waited for someone to offer him a multi-year deal, which the Cardinals would have had a right to match. However, the Cardinals would have been able to rescind the offer at any time before acceptance.

After seeing what Todd Gurley got from the Falcons (one year, $6 million) and what Melvin Gordon got from the Broncos (two years, $16 million), Drake apparently decided that he should take the $8.48 million that’s on the table before the Cardinals realize that, given the current market, they’re probably offering him too much.

The two sides can negotiate a long-term deal through July 15. He’d be entitled to a 20-percent raise if tagged again next year, which would be $10.08 million. Which the Cardinals likely won’t being doing. So any offer on a multi-year deal would have to be enough to get Drake to trade in $8.48 million for 2020 and a clear shot at the open market in 2021.

The Cardinals traded for Drake during the 2019 season. He made an immediate impact and became the starter ahead of David Johnson, whose $10 million salary was dumped in the trade that brought receiver DeAndre Hopkins to Arizona.

Cool grandma is smiling

 

It didn’t take Dion Lewis to find a new home.

The Titans released the running back on March 12. He agreed to terms with the Giants on a one-year deal Monday, Josina Anderson of ESPN reports.

Lewis, 29, spent the past two seasons in Tennessee, complementing Derrick Henry. He played all 32 games with eight starts and had 293 touches for 1,290 yards and three touchdowns.

The Eagles made Lewis a fifth-round choice in 2011, and he played two seasons in Philadelphia and three in New England before signing with Mike Vrabel’s Titans.

In his seven-year career, Lewis has 710 touches for 3,591 yards and 18 touchdowns.

Travis Frederick announced his retirement on Twitter today. That hurts the Cowboys chances to push for a Super Bowl. That’s a hell of a player to lose. Only 29 years old

 

The Packers are signing receiver Devin Funchess, Tom Pelissero of NFL Media reports.

Funchess, 25, will play for his third team in three years.

He was with Carolina for four seasons before going to Indianapolis a year ago as a free agent.

But Funchess spent most of last season on injured reserve with a fractured clavicle. He played only one game with the Colts, making three catches for 32 yards.

In Carolina, Funchess played 61 of a possible 64 games. He made 161 receptions for 2,233 yards and 21 touchdowns.

 

The Jets lost receiver Robby Anderson to the Panthers earlier Tuesday. They replaced him with Breshad Perriman.

Perriman has agreed to a one-year deal worth up to $8 million with $6 million guaranteed, according to his agent, Drew Rosenhaus.

Perriman ranks 42 on PFT’s list of top 100 free agents.

Perriman, 26, has played five NFL seasons since the Ravens made him a first-round choice in 2015. He spent last season in Tampa.

Perriman played 645 snaps on offense in 14 games as the third receiver with Mike Evans and Chris Godwin. Perriman made 36 receptions for 645 yards and six touchdowns.

He will play for his fourth team in four years, having spent 2015-17 in Baltimore, including his rookie season when he didn’t play a down, 2018 in Cleveland and last season in Tampa.

In his career, Perriman has 95 receptions for 1,561 yards and 11 touchdowns.

Josh Bynes will be leaving Baltimore but staying in the AFC North.

Bynes, a linebacker who spent last season with the Ravens, is signing a one-year contract with the Bengals, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

The 30-year-old Bynes played 40 percent of the Ravens’ defensive snaps last season and had 46 combined tackles, one sack and two interceptions.

Bynes originally entered the NFL as an undrafted rookie with the Ravens in 2011. He spent three years in Baltimore before having stints in Detroit and Arizona and then returning to Baltimore last year.

The receiver market was slow to develop, leaving Robby Anderson waiting longer than anticipated.

Anderson will sign a two-year, $20 million deal with the Panthers, including $12 million in the first year, Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News reports.

Anderson, 26, played at Temple when new Panthers coach Matt Rhule was the head coach there. Anderson becomes the third Temple player to rejoin Rhule in recent days, following Tahir Whitehead and P.J. Walker.

Anderson spent four seasons with the Jets, making 207 catches for 3,059 yards and 20 touchdowns.

In 16 games last season, Anderson made 52 receptions for 779 yards and five touchdowns.

 

TE Tyler Eifert signing with Jaguars on two-year deal

For seven seasons with the Bengals, tight end Tyler Eifert flashed brilliance and was mired by injuries.

Now he's headed south for a fresh start, as Eifert and the Jaguars have agreed on a two-year deal, NFL Network's Tom Peliserro reported Tuesday.

Taken 21st by the Bengals in the 2013 NFL Draft, Eifert is hoping to be another kind of cat when he ventures to Jacksonville looking to continuing showing the skill he always has, but do so while avoiding injury.

The 2019 season was the only one of his career thus far in which he's played all 16 games, but he saw just four starts and logged 43 catches for 436 yards and three touchdowns.

Previous to 2019, Eifert played in just 14 games over the three-season span of 2016-2018. That came off his most productive statistical season of 2015 when he earned his only Pro Bowl berth with 52 catches for 615 yards and an eye-popping 13 touchdowns in 13 games.

The highlight-filled 2015 campaign came after Eifert's injury woes began with a one-game 2014 year ended by a dislocated elbow.

In 2016, Eifert's year ended on injured reserve with a lingering back injury. The 2017 campaign came to a halt due to a back injury and the next season ended early due to a broken ankle.

Perhaps the warmer climate in Florida will aid Eifert's prospects as he also looks to become a target over the middle for second-year signal-caller Gardner Minshew. Though Eifert's 43 grabs last year were hardly mind-spinning, he gives the Jaguars an option they haven't had as of late. Last season, tight ends James O'Shaughnessy (14 receptions), Geoff Swaim (14), Seth Devalve (12) and Nick O'Leary (nine) combined barely edged past Eifert's total.

In Duval, there will be a new start for Eifert and a new option for Minshew.

Vonn Bell signs with Bengals...



The Bengals added a couple of cornerbacks early in free agency and now they’ve made an addition at the safety spot as well.

NFL Media reports that they have signed safety Vonn Bell to a three-year deal. Bell was No. 78 on PFT’s list of the top 100 free agents this offseason.

Bell started all 13 games he played for the Saints last season, but Malcolm Jenkins‘ return to New Orleans helped to close the door on his chances of remaining with the team.

Bell had 89 tackles, 1.5 sacks, an interception, two forced fumbles and five fumble recoveries during his final regular season with the Saints and added one more fumble recovery in the playoffs. He joins Jessie Bates and Shaun Williams at safety in Cincinnati.

Cincy has low key been making some solid moves in free agency.

If the put together a solid draft (Burrow is a given at the top) then they could quickly spring back into the playoff conversation.
