Has to be a 1st rounder and a couple other high picks now that they have Wentz I would imagine......Thing is, is Bradford that far above a backup QB? We know he gets injured a lot and has a terrible record when it comes to wins and losses. Is he better than Fitzpatrick?
axe-basis of a second rd pick and perhaps another pick. that seems to be the general consensus among reports. to Ask for that is damn near insanity.
i also read the eagles just couldn't get any old pick for bradford due to the money they owed me so the pick they got for him had to be pretty decent for them to move him.
Thats not fair Lyman. Philly overpaid Bradford which is why they can't get what they want for him. Meantime, Fitzpatrick is holding out and we don't know how much he'll get.......It's not like Fitzpatrick can't get a job with a team being a starter.......And he's on the field all year also.....
The "2nd round pick" is what Adam Schefter first threw out as a "for example." It wasn't based on any report or rumor. That's why I'm looking for something more substantial.
QB Carson Wentz signs four-year contract with the Eagles PHILADELPHIA (AP) ? Quarterback Carson Wentz signed a four-year contract with the Eagles one day before rookie camp. Wentz led North Dakota State to consecutive FCS national championships in his only two seasons as a starter before Philadelphia selected him with the No. 2 overall pick in last month's NFL draft. The Eagles traded up twice to get Wentz. He's expected to spend most of the season playing behind starter Sam Bradford and backup Chase Daniel. All of Philadelphia's draft picks are under contract and are scheduled to report for rookie camp Friday.
Panthers sign CB Sanchez; DT Butler only draft pick unsigned CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) ? The Carolina Panthers have signed cornerback Zack Sanchez, their fifth-round draft pick from Oklahoma. Financial terms were not available Thursday. With Sanchez under contract, it leaves first-round draft choice Vernon Butler as the team's only unsigned draft pick. The 5-foot-11, 185-pound Sanchez was a two-time All-Big 12 Conference choice and started 37 games at Oklahoma. In three seasons, he had 134 tackles, 15 interceptions and 28 passes defensed. He finished his career fourth in school history in interceptions. The Panthers will start rookie minicamp Friday.
i can never recall a time so close to after the draft the eagles had everyone signed and ready to go. nice.
That is because the contracts are already spelled out in the collective bargaining agreement. There is no negotiation.
I think it is impressive that Philly has all of their picks signed, even if the "negotiations" are made easier due to the CBA. But to address your question: no, the majority of draftees are not signed. For instance, Buffalo has only two signed so far, (and they're both 6th round picks). I'd be happy if I were an Eagles fan, but I am not concerned that any team is going to have a rookie holdout either.
Buffalo Bills sign 5th-round draft pick, Jonathan Williams ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP) ? The Buffalo Bills have signed rookie fifth-round draft pick running back Jonathan Williams. He was selected 156th overall out of Arkansas, where he missed his senior season last year because of a torn ligament in his foot. Williams was a dual-threat as a rusher and receiver in his first three seasons. He had 2,321 yards rushing and 16 touchdowns and added 345 yards receiving and six TDs in 36 career games. Williams joins a Bills offense that led the NFL with 2,432 yards rushing last season. He will be given an opportunity to compete for a job behind starter LeSean McCoy and backup Karlos Williams. The Bills have now three of the seven players they selected in the draft.
While I had hoped for Booker out of Utah to fall to the Bills here, I am extremely happy with Jonathan Williams. I think he's a great compliment in Roman's O.
