Court grants Brady extension to appeal Deflategate decision NEW YORK (AP) ? Tom Brady's lawyers will get another two weeks to appeal his "Deflategate" suspension. The 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Manhattan said Brady could have until May 23 to decide whether to ask for a rehearing in front of the same three-judge panel or a new hearing ? called "en banc" ? in front of the entire circuit. The court ruled 2-1 on April 25 ruled that Commissioner Roger Goodell was within his rights to suspend Brady for four games for his role in using improperly inflated footballs in the 2015 AFC championship game. Brady was given two weeks to appeal. But since then, he has added top lawyer Ted Olson to his team. Olson has experience arguing in front of the Supreme Court, including in the Bush v. Gore case that settled the 2000 presidential election. Olson was also involved in the case that overturned California's ban on same-sex marriages.
NFL warns players about steroid in meat NEW YORK (AP) ? The NFL has warned players that some meat produced in China and Mexico may be contaminated with clenbuterol, a banned steroid. In a memo sent out by the league office, the NFL warned players that consuming large quantities of meat while visiting those countries may result in a positive test for clenbuterol. The memo asked the players to "please take caution if you decide to consume meat, and understand that you do so at your own risk." The league also reminded players that they are responsible for any substances found in their bodies. Clenbuterol has been banned in Mexico as a growth enhancer for cattle but is suspected to still be in use there. The Oakland Raiders are scheduled to face the Houston Texans on Monday Night Football on Nov. 21 in Mexico City as part of the league's international series.
Johnny Manziel booked in domestic violence case DALLAS (AP) ? Johnny Manziel has been booked and posted bond in a domestic violence case, one day before the former Cleveland Browns quarterback faces his first court hearing. Manziel attorney Robert Hinton said Wednesday that the 23-year-old quarterback presented himself for booking and a mugshot. Police in Highland Park, a wealthy Dallas enclave that's separate from the city, released the mugshot Wednesday afternoon. The Heisman Trophy winner and former Texas A&M star was indicted by a grand jury last month after his ex-girlfriend alleged he hit her and threatened to kill her during a night out in January. Manziel faces a Class A misdemeanor that carries up to a year in jail and a $4,000 fine. He is expected to appear briefly before a Dallas judge Thursday morning.
He recently watched the longest yard he figures if he serves time he will finally get to be a starting QB.

Manziel silent outside court after hearing in domestic case DALLAS (AP) ? Johnny Manziel waded through a crowd of reporters after his first court appearance in a domestic violence case Thursday, ignoring questions and even an autograph request. With most of the cameras gone in a quiet parking garage, the 23-year-old Manziel was forced to wait as defense attorney Robert Hinton gave interviews inside. Manziel kept his back to a reporter asking questions about his football future, looking down and wiping his face a few times with his sister, Meri, nearby. Manziel, a free agent quarterback without an agent and no apparent prospects for signing with another team after being cut by Cleveland, is a long way from the field with NFL offseason workouts starting soon. Instead, he is preparing a defense against a misdemeanor assault charge that carries a penalty of up to a year in jail and a $4,000 fine. The 2012 Heisman Trophy winner from Texas A&M was indicted last month after ex-girlfriend Colleen Crowley said he hit her and threatened to kill her during a night out in January. During the brief hearing, Judge Roberto Canas set bond conditions that already existed through a protective order granted to Crowley. Manziel can't have any contact with her and can't possess any firearms. Manziel told Canas that he didn't own a gun. "No, sir," Manziel replied when asked if he had any questions. No plea was entered, but Hinton said Manziel plans to plead not guilty. A status hearing was set for June 24.
ALLEN PARK, Mich. (AP) ? The Detroit Lions have signed free agent wide receiver Andre Caldwell. Caldwell played the past four seasons with the Denver Broncos. He caught 10 passes for 72 yards and two touchdowns in 2015, and he had one catch for 22 yards in the Super Bowl. Caldwell played four seasons with Cincinnati from 2008-11 after being drafted by the Bengals in the third round in 2008. The Lions also announced Thursday that they have released center Darren Keyton.
They won't even let anybody wear his number 24. I think they are hoping to get him back in the fold. I live up in Washington now & Lynch is by far the favorite player of the fans. He does more commercials than any other Seahawk.
I think he didn't like missing so much time to injury last year, but his injury wasn't that serious, he had a sports hernia, which is very easy to recover from. Maybe he wants to be able to smoke weed? He was suspended for weed when he was in Buffalo. I have a feeling he is going to come back sometime this season. he just has too much left in the tank.
