The Oakland Raiders are one step away from moving to Las Vegas By Aaron Torres Apr 26, 2016 at 10:40a ET What seemed like some sort of weird marketing gimmick just a few months ago could actually be reality sooner than any of us envisioned: The Raiders could seriously be moving to Las Vegas, at least according to a report from the Los Angeles Daily News on Tuesday. According to the report, the city of Las Vegas will hold a meeting on Thursday to discuss the feasibility of building a major stadium near the Las Vegas strip. Raiders owner Mark Davis will be present, and ready to pounce if it's approved. Here are the details from the LA Daily News: Raiders owner Mark Davis will be in Las Vegas Thursday when the Southern Nevada Tourism Infrastructure Committee (SNTIC) meets to discuss plans to build a 65,000-seat stadium near the Las Vegas strip, and according to sources, Davis will offer a commitment to pursue a Raiders relocation there if financing for the $1.3 billion project is approved. Then later in the article, there is this: Davis' appearance Thursday --?? and the commitment he is expected to make --?? could be a difference maker. Davis will leave no doubt his franchise will pursue relocation to Las Vegas if the stadium project is approved. Simply put, this is shocking news -- not because the Raiders want to move to Las Vegas (we've heard those reports before) but because of how serious this seems to be. Just a few months ago, it seemed as though the Raiders were hoping to get in on the Rams' stadium deal in Los Angeles (they could move there if the Chargers decide to stay in San Diego), but in reading this report, it seems more and more like the Raiders are ready to bypass LA and go straight to Vegas. And when you read the report, the reasoning why makes sense. For one, Davis believes that the Raiders can expand their West Coast market (which already goes up and down the West Coast from Los Angeles to Oakland) further East, with Vegas being a natural end point. The fact that West Coast fans could easily get there (it's a four-hour drive from LA) and that Raiders fans from all across the country could use Vegas as a weekend getaway to watch a game only adds to the appeal. Also, according to the author of the piece, Vincent Bonsignore, the NFL is slowly becoming more and more open to moving one of its franchise to Vegas. Safe to say that this will be a huge story in the coming days. And it looks like the NFL could be coming to Vegas.
so much for raider nation? and i saw on a post they never sell out? what? i find that hard to believe.
I could see a team in Vegas, they would have a slot machine in front of every seat & a sports betting booth by every concession stand. People wouldn't even watch the game, they would be too busy gambling.
Cincinnati Bengals release linebacker A.J. Hawk CINCINNATI (AP) ? The Cincinnati Bengals have released linebacker A.J. Hawk. A native of southwest Ohio who starred at Ohio State, Hawk joined the Bengals as a free agent last spring after spending nine seasons with the Green Bay Packers and departing as that team's career leader in tackles. The 32-year-old Hawk played in 16 games last season for the Bengals, with 11 starts. He logged 24 tackles and a sack. He also played in the team's wild card playoff game. Bengals coach Marvin Lewis said Hawk was a pleasure to have on the team but that the Bengals "are going a different direction at this point." The 6-foot-1, 240-pound Hawk was a consensus All-American in two of his four seasons at Ohio State.
Thats got to be the biggest issue. I dont see how Vegas can separate themselves from the gambling stigma and does the NFL even care if they could generate revenue. I would like to hear exactly what the stance on gambling is by the NFL and how they would separate the two in Vegas. On the other hand , maybe it's not even an issue at all. I dont know.
well don't they wanna put a hockey team in vegas too? they must know something to curb the gambling a live game.
http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/eye-on...s-should-have-told-qb-about-their-draft-plans Bradford's agent says EAgles should've told Sam about their draft plans and taking a QB. Sorry to me if they sign his paychecks on time, they don't owe him a damn thing! Go join Kelly Ripa in the hurt feelings department you sally-ass!
then he needs to look up in the dictionary what a good QB is because he's not it. and they made the trade to get to #8 the same week that sam signed. they had no idea what they could pull off with miami let alone cleveland for the #2.
Bradford and his agent need to realize that Eagles management needs to do what they deem best for the team, not what's best for Sam Bradford.
Judge sets $1,500 bond in Johnny Manziel assault case DALLAS (AP) ? A Dallas judge has set a $1,500 bond for former Cleveland Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel in his misdemeanor domestic assault case. Manziel's attorney, Robert Hinton, said Wednesday that the 23-year-old quarterback is expected to turn himself in for booking next week, though no date has been set. The Heisman Trophy winner and former Texas A&M star was indicted by a grand jury this week after his ex-girlfriend alleged he hit her and threatened to kill her during a night out in January. She alleged she was hit so hard that she temporarily lost hearing in one ear. Manziel faces a Class A misdemeanor that carries up to a year in jail and a $4,000 fine. Manziel has been dropped by two agents and his endorsers.
gid-for the money the eagles gave bradford - he should be laughing at them. who cares if he starts or not? his children's children will never have to work again!
What I don't get it, does he think that if he's traded THAT team won't take a QB early in the draft? If he gets dealt to the Jets, does he think that automatically precludes them from taking Paxton Lynch? Or the Broncos and say Connor Cook?
hell no axe. the best part is bradford said no to SF bc of Kelly and NY said no to Bradford already. He's being very picky here and no one wants him besides Denver who was rumored to give up a second rd pick for him and Philly wanted more. I smell bs there as how the hell can the Eagles expect more from anyone for Bradford?
There are casinos in nearly every state now, so I don't know there is any stigma issue involved these days...
But, Las Vegas is just one giant 'Sin City'. I just wonder if that mattered. Casino's are in every city these day's is true, but Vegas is just one casino called a city. Maybe it doesnt matter.
