Did the top brass know about this before it happened? I find it hard to believe the he got out of bed yesterday morning and said, "That's it. I'm done". They had to have known.
That makes sense. Guessing that he said if I don't heal/ cant start this year,, It's over. AND We don't really know how badly banged up he is.
the radio had a few guys who retired early - barry sanders, jim brown, calvin johnson and now andrew luck.
my 2 cents on luck is he has more than enough money to live off of the rest of his life. his injuries were adding up and his recovery to those injuries was not progressing how he thought. he just wasn't getting healthier and the NFL season is a long season. i guess he felt if he wasn't 100% healthy, then it was time to retire versus \rehabbing and getting healthier during the season. like SoCal said the timing is awful but only Luck knows his own body and what production it has left. best of luck to him. no pun intended.
Patrick Chung pleads not guilty to cocaine charge New England Patriots safety Patrick Chung entered a plea of not guilty Monday to a charge of cocaine possession, the New Hampshire Supreme Court office confirmed to NFL.com. Chung's next court appearance is scheduled for Nov. 8 in Belknap County (N.H.) Superior Court. News broke last week that Chung had been indicted by a grand jury on a charge of cocaine possession. The incident occurred on June 25 in Meredith, New Hampshire where Chung has a residence. "We are aware of the reports regarding Patrick Chung," the Patriots said in a statement Thursday. "We will not be commenting while his judicial proceedings take place." Chung, who has been a key piece of the Patriots' defense on three Super Bowl championships, signed a one-year extension in April. (NFL.com)

Oh C'mon people of Indy. The way you're carrying on You'd think that your team had packed up and moved in the middle of the night to another city. A team like the Colts would NEVER do something like that !!!!! Wait....….. What ??????? Never mind. (where's that damn delete button)
LeRon McClain sounds like an absolute hot mess right now. Here's my thoughts though: McClain needs to be talking with friends, family, or qualified professionals about what's going on with him physically and mentally. Going to social media and tagging the NFL isn't going to do a single thing for him. Let's just pretend that in some reality, the NFL responds to McClain tweeting and wires him 50 trillion dollars overnight. He's just going to be the same guy with the same issues plus 50 trillion dollars. He needs to get some help, and a social media echo chamber isn't going to fix him. There also could be a discussion about personal responsibility/life choices, but that can be a bit of a broader topic. Specific to right now, he needs some loved ones to point him in the actual correct direction.
Patriots center David Andrews is dealing with a major health scare. Andrews has been hospitalized with blood clots in his lungs his season is in jeopardy, according to Jeff Howe of TheAthletic.com. That would be a serious loss. Andrews is a team captain who started all 19 games, up to and including the Super Bowl, last year. He was expected to be one of the most important players in the Patriots’ offense again this year. If Andrews is out, the Patriots would likely turn to 2016 sixth-round pick Ted Karras to play center. Karras started the two games Andrews missed in 2017. (PFT)
From what ive read, the why is because as a 4th tier WR he wouldn't be in the mix for Special teams usage and they thought no reason to have him stick around. I guess they think they are deep enough at that position by the Miller signing. The timing' issue was described as a 'good' thing as it gives Strong a chance at making another teams roster when a whole hurd hits the bricks by Saturday. The article actually described it as a class act to release him now so he can get work elsewhere. Just some stuff I read at a Browns site. https://brownswire.usatoday.com/201...tm_medium=wasabi&utm_content=recirc-more-site I thought he looked pretty good this preseason and shouldn't have a problem finding a gig elsewhere.
Jerry Jones: NFL is “evaluating” preseason length Lost in the explosion of news regarding the Andrew Luck retirement is the possibility that the NFL will lose half of the preseason. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones addressed the situation with reporters after his team’s most recent preseason game, against the Texans. “We are evaluating,” Jones said. “I’m involved in our labor negotiation and we’re having CBA negotiations every Monday and Tuesday. Have been for several weeks. We all — players, the league — are looking at preseason and looking at what we can do to make preseason better for our fans.” To the extent Jones is still a fan, he may be the only fan who doesn’t mind the preseason. “I’m one of these guys that there’s an element of preseason that’s exciting to me, but everybody doesn’t look at it that way,” Jones said. “I thought that when you look at the fact that there are a hundred players apiece almost out there on that field tonight, which represents probably several hundred million [dollars] worth of talent, that’s enjoyable to me to watch those guys get out there and play. But the bottom line is that everybody knows that at the end of the day, it’s my town against yours and we want to see competing right down to the last down and so getting there with [the] preseason doesn’t happen. So we’re taking a look at it. . . . It has been a subject of evaluating, looking at, critiquing since I’ve been in the league for 30 years.” That’s fine, but the critiquing has reached critical mass. With more and more teams playing fewer and fewer starters in the games that don’t count, fewer and fewer fans care about those games. At some point, some of those games have to go away. But the owners won’t give up the revenue that comes from those games without a way to replace it. And those games won’t be replaced unless and until the NFL Players Association agrees to play more games that count. And the NFLPA won’t do that until the NFL makes an offer that the NFLPA can’t refuse. The NFL already may be at the point where it can’t fail to make that kind of an offer. (PFT)
