Former NFL running back Cedric Benson dies at 36 Cedric Benson, the fourth overall pick in the 2005 draft, has died, according to multiple reports. He was 36. Benson’s life reportedly ended in a motorcycle accident on Saturday night in Austin, when the motorcycle on which he was riding struck a minivan. Benson expired at the scene. A woman who was riding on the motorcycle also died. Benson’s passing has not officially been announced by authorities in Texas. However, former Texas coach Mack Brown acknowledged Benson’s passing during a Sunday press conference held in his current job as the head coach at North Carolina. Drafted by the Bears, Benson had three subpar seasons that included multiple off-field issues. Released by the Bears, Benson joined the Bengals in 2008, and he rushed for more than 1,000 in three straight seasons, from 2009 through 2011. In 2012, the Bengals decided not to re-sign Benson. He joined the Packers, but suffered a season-ending injury after playing only five games. Through eight seasons, Benson generated 6,017 rushing yards, 88th on the all-time rushing list. Legal issues continued throughout his NFL career, and beyond. On Thursday, he resolved a 2017 DWI case by pleading guilty to a lesser charge. We extend our condolences to Benson’s family, friends, coaches, and teammates. - (PFT)
Vikings cornerback Holton Hill is a lesson in what not to do to make a football team. During the offseason, Hill received two four-game suspensions — one for violating the league’s performance enhancing drug policy and the other for violating the substance abuse policy. Likely already on shaky ground with the Vikings, he earned an ejection from officials for a brutal helmet-to-helmet hit Sunday night. With 3:53 remaining in the fourth quarter, Hill lowered his head to initiate contact with scrambling Seahawks quarterback Paxton Lynch. Hill hit Lynch squarely in the head. “In #SEAvsMIN, [Hill] was penalized by on-field officials for unnecessary roughness and disqualified from New York for late and forcible contact to the head of the sliding quarterback,” the NFL’s supervisor of officials, Al Riveron, explained in a tweet. J.T. Barrett replaced Lynch, who was up and walking on the sideline shortly afterward. Hill appeared in all 16 games last season. He won’t play at least eight this season, and the question now becomes: Will he have a job when he becomes eligible again? (PFT) _____________ _________________________ He should be cut immediately... biggest dumbass ive seen in a long time.
DeMarcus Lawrence to come off PUP “soon” Robert Quinn fractured his hand. Randy Gregory remains suspended. DeMarcus Lawrence has yet to practice after undergoing offseason shoulder surgery. At least one of those Cowboys defensive ends is close to returning to practice. The Cowboys are expected to activate Lawrence from the physically unable to perform list soon, Mike Garafolo of the NFL reports. That follows the timeline Lawrence and the Cowboys have given all along, expecting the Pro Bowler to play in the season opener against the Giants. Lawrence delayed shoulder surgery until after receiving a long-term deal, and he signed a five-year, $105 million deal in April. Lawrence, 27, had 14.5 sacks in 2017 and 10.5 last season. He said this offseason he hoped to break Michael Strahan’s single-season sacks record before Von Miller, who also has openly targeted Strahan’s 22.5 sacks in 2001. (PFT)
Funny thing is, when Jerry Jones said that it was in jest, a joke, but the negativity is coming from Zeke's agent.
EXACTLY. Jerry said right away that he was kidding, that Pollard was to be a complement to Zeke. Zeke and his agent are twisting it to make it look like they're the aggrieved party.
Lots going on in Dallas this summer. Some contracts need to be offered and accepted. Makes for an interesting summer with opening weekend 4 weekends away...
Just read an article from USA Today. They ranked the top 11 best backup QB's in the NFL. They had Bridgewater at #1. SAY WHAT ?? Did they see him play last week ? Played 2 sets of downs. Threw one pick and on the other set, threw the ball so far behind the receiver that the defender couldn't even reach back and get a hand on it. #1 my ass. He's not even the best backup on the Saints.
