NFL - NEWS & NOTES

  1. Lyman "Franchise Asshole" Browns Buckeyes

As far as I can tell, the only rumors are from Twitterati out of Kansas City. A local, Cleveland TV station (WKYC) airs a local segment every night called "Verify". They could find no police reports or calls from the weekend linking Hunt to any bar confrontations. Their search included the local police department, county sheriff's office and even the owner of the bar where this allegedly occurred.

There's video circulating of Kareem having a discussion with police after what is being reported as a small argument with a friend, but the details around it are murky.

There was an incident and he was in the area but no one has verified his involvement.

"Small argument with a friend" = "Bar Fight" ???

I didn't report it and I don't have any details other than what has been reported.

All I did was mention that there was a rumor circulating.

    Pretty sure it’s still misconduct.

There’s no police report and apparently it’s no big deal.

But still...if you’re Hunt...wouldn’t you try to avoid public arguments and maybe even bars for a while?

  7. Campbell Administrator Manager Commissioner

I don’t know the details of his suspension but the NFL has included alcohol related stipulations for reinstatement previously.

    I believe I would.

If I was the Browns I would save face and cut his ass. Teams can’t just keep looking the other way, they got to start saying fuck the talent this guy isn’t worthy of playing this sport that makes you a millionaire If you are any good.

In today's world yeah it does. It's all about the clicks, not integrity. 'Kareem Hunt in a small dispute at a bar' doesn't gain the attention that 'Kareem Hunt involved in a bar fight' does.

In this case it seems like much ado about nothing. Small argument in public can happen to anyone, anytime.

Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott met with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell on Tuesday to discuss an incident at a Las Vegas music festival earlier this offseason...

Elliott had a confrontation with security guard Kyle Johnson, who said that Elliott shoved him. Elliott was briefly handcuffed, but criminal charges were not filed. Johnson requested a “sincere apology” from Elliott and Goodell sought a conversation as part of a process examining if Elliott, who served a six-game suspension in 2017, violated the Personal Conduct Policy.

Elliott posted a message on Twitter after the meeting that included both an apology and a rundown of what he said he and Goodell discussed on Tuesday.

“Earlier today, I met with the Commissioner to share with him what occurred in Las Vegas and what I have learned from that incident. I’ve worked hard to make better decisions and to live up to the high standards that are expected of me.

I failed to do that here and I made a poor decision. I apologized to Kyle Johnson at the time and I meant it.

I need to work harder to ensure I do not put myself in compromised situations in the future. I am rededicating myself to use all of the resources that the league has made available. But in the end, it is up to me and I am determined not to be in this position again.”

Elliott is expected at training camp with the Cowboys later this month.

The next step for Norton is to see who was at fault. That will affect his life going forward.

Former Patriots linebacker and current ESPN analyst Tedy Bruschi had a stroke on Thursday.

Bruschi’s family released a statement on Friday afternoon saying that Bruschi recognized the warning signs and is doing well after receiving medical attention.

“Yesterday afternoon, Tedy had a stroke, known as a TIA. He recognized his warning signs immediately: arm weakness, face drooping and speech difficulties. Tedy is recovering well, and would like to thank the nurses, doctors and staff at Sturdy Memorial Hospital for all they have done. Tedy and his family thank you for your ongoing encouragement, and kindly ask for privacy at this time.”

Bruschi also had a stroke in February 2005 just after the Patriots won the Super Bowl and learned that he had a congenital heart defect that produced a hole in his heart. He had a procedure to repair that hole and sat out the start of the 2005 season before returning to play in nine games that year. He played three more seasons with the Patriots and announced his retirement just before the start of the 2009 season.

Everyone at PFT wishes Bruschi a complete recovery.

Randy Gregory hopes to be reinstated by training camp...

The Cowboys open training camp on July 27, and Randy Gregory hopes to be there for it.

According to David Moore of the Dallas Morning News, the suspended defensive end will petition the league for reinstatement from his indefinite suspension for violating the league’s substance abuse policy.

Gregory is expected to submit the paperwork in the next week to 10 days.

That seems like a quick turnaround for the league office, but Gregory’s side could be hoping for some degree of lenience that would allow him to go through camp and the preseason, even if he was held out of regular season games.

The suspension handed down in February was Gregory’s fourth, and given his recidivism, it would be interesting if the league allowed the fourth one to be a short one.

But owner Jerry Jones expressed his usual optimism, saying he hoped Gregory would be able to play this season, perhaps by the beginning of the season.

A source told the Dallas Morning News that Gregory hasn’t failed or missed any drug tests during his latest suspension.

Gregory played in 14 games last year, the same number he played in his first three seasons combined. The Cowboys believe in him, and extended his contract this offseason to carry him through the 2020 season. (PFT)

Guy's got real pass-rush skills, but damn he's gotta lay off the cheeba for a bit.
