Again, because of potential and upside. Would you rather have an Alex Smith type of guy who can get you to 9-10 wins a year right from the jump, or a guy with say Ben Roethlisberger's upside, but you have to wait 3 years until he reaches his potential?
since they gave a ton of cash to daniel and bradford, i don't mind grooming cook. im against trading up for the #2 and losing a ton of picks in return.
REPORTED BY THE EAGLES OFFICIAL TWITTER: The Browns have traded the #2 overall pick!! The Browns receive: 2016; First Round #8 overall, Third Round #77 overall, Fourth Round #100 overall 2017; First Round Draft Pick of the Eagles 2018; Second Round Draft Pick of the Eagles The Eagles receive: 2016 First Round #2 overall, 2017 Fourth Round [(edited from #99 overall]
I can live with that. It's less than I expected. The future 2nd was likely because the Eagles wanted to keep a 3rd this year. A future 1st was always expected. If it's Wentz I'll be happy with it. Well I could live with Goff. They are getting a QB and not giving up too much for the chance.
It's close to what was first reported (#1 and 2 #3s this year, #1 & #3 in 2017); they had to up the ante and cough up a #2 in 2018, but they also get a high #4 back. Birds structured/staggered it pretty well so they didn't decimate themselves pick-wise in any year.
I'll go on record saying I think it's a great deal for the Eagles. We're the Browns really desperate? I am guessing the Rams told the Browns and Eagles who they are taking but to keep quiet as a favour to help their LA media marketing. In that case I expect Goff to the Rams then Wentz. I wonder if the Browns are going to be okay. If anything they have ammo for a future QB trade up. If the Titans or Jags are last next year I can see the Browns trading their likely high #1 and the Eagles #1 for it.
so the eagles draft in the first rd and not again till the 4th? that's not how you rebuild. word is denver "may" want for some insane reason bradford. please God let this happen for some kind of pick between rds 2-4.
i may have to go on a beer load tonight to forget this trade ever happened! *DRINK* *DRINK* *DRINK* *DRINK* *DRINK* *DRINK* *DRINK* *DRINK* *DRINK* *DRINK* *DRINK* *DRINK* *DRINK* *DRINK* *DRINK* *DRINK* *DRINK* *DRINK* *DRINK* *DRINK* *DRINK* *DRINK* *DRINK* *DRINK* *DRINK* *DRINK* *DRINK* *DRINK* :| *WALL* *WASSUP* *ROSE*
They traded their 4th. They kept a 3rd. They already lost their 2nd. They gave up they 1st, one of their 3rds and a 4th. They still have #79. This trade is very good value. If we get a franchise QB out of it then it is totally worth it.
sorry Joe, you are correct. I was basing that info on what Axe posted on the page before, but it's incorrect. Having a 3rd and 2 4ths this year is not that bad.
correct Joe - sorry about that. the eagles front office better be working the phones hard to trade bradford now.
With the Eagles and Browns current rosters and all new coaching staffs...the Browns may currently already own the #1 AND the #2 overall draft picks in the 2017 draft...
I think he was referencing the original reports this morning that they were trading #8, both 3's and 2017 first and third...The picks changed in reality, but are similar in value.
Exactly what I meant - I was comparing the two (initial report and actual deal), saying they were pretty close.
