I watched the video with the sound off, so take this for what it's worth: he didn't do anything to warrant a suspension, in any way. It looked like he was being unreasonable with the girlfriend for a second, but the he stepped away. It looks like any escalation happened only when security got involved, and he took it as disrespect / ganging up on him, when he was in the midst of a dispute. He did straight up push the security guy over, but it was more of a "You stepping to me?" kind of thing gone a moment too far.

My first reaction was to point to the wonderful track record of Urban Meyer disciples, and that this was just another entry into the very long book. But I don't think there's anything to what Zeke did.

Eagles seem to have a hold out. Malcolm Jenkins signed an extension 2 years ago that gave him among the top S money but he got jealous of new contracts around the league since then. He is currently ranked #10 in money. I'm usually all for the players getting paid but he took good money for 4 years. He knows he is probably the most important player on defense from a replacement standpoint. He has all the leverage right now. He'll likely get paid. Eagles have a good amount of cap space but that was mainly meant to make Carson Wentz's new contract not sting.

to me he should have no damn leverage. you signed the deal and took the money. honor it. it's not the Eagles fault other players in your position make more money than you do. too fucking bad! to me this is a problem with players holding teams hostage to deals they already signed. be a man and honor it, not hold out for more money you greedy fucker.

I don't think you understand what leverage is. It's not a right. Eagles can't afford to not have him unlike the Vikings who may be fine without Rudolph because of who they drafted.

really ? you want to insult me by saying i don't know what leverage is? i know what the hell it is. i also know about honor. i know exactly how the game works Loajoe! I don't agree with it. To me it makes the players look greedy and less honorable by holding the team hostage until they pay what he wants when he's already under signed contract terms! Sorry Jenkins, you signed the deal, now live with it.

Teams don't have to do any of that.

You shouldn't expect of the players what you don't ask of the teams.

I get what you meant. Also if one thing you are it's consistent. YOu don't just bitch about Eagles players asking for more money. You've said it pretty much every other time.

bc i feel all athletes in all sports are overpaid and greedy. they signed a contract, so honor it. they play 3 yrs of a 5 yr deal and want more money. Jenkins wants more money bc his peers make more? well they didn't when he signed ? they passed him after he got his deal, so live with it and honor it. i don't feel it's right a player holds the team that is paying him hostage by holding out. what does that say about the honor and integrity of the player ? where does his loyalties really lie ? not with the team. only with himself and his bank account.

Just like how the teams honor the contracts they signed when the players might be overpaid.

    Oh wait...

Half the contracts are never intended to last to the end. That’s why the biggest paying seasons are at the end so only if a player is really earning it will he get it.

Technically the players signed on not to have fully guaranteed contracts. It's why Cousins said "Fuck This Shit" and only took guaranteed money.

i believe on the NFL has that ability to not pay them if cut from the team. the other 3 major sports must pay them.

Injuries: Cole Beasley, Frank Gore sidelined at OTAs...

The Buffalo Bills have a laundry list of injuries as organized team activities ramp up, including several offseason additions.

Coach Sean McDermott noted that receiver Cole Beasley and center Mitch Morse will not practice after undergoing surgery for core muscle procedures a few weeks ago.

McDermott said tight end Tyler Kroft, who the Bills signed from Cincinnati, suffered a broken foot in practice on Monday and will need surgery. It's the same foot the TE injured last season.

NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reported that Kroft is facing a 3-4 month recovery, so could have a shot to be back for the start of the season.

Thirty-six-year-old running back Frank Gore will also miss practice with a foot and ankle injury sustained recently. Fellow running back T.J. Yeldon is dealing with a groin injury.

Early in offseason workouts teams will be more cautious about putting players to work with minor issues that could become bigger problems if pressed. Erring on the side of caution is the name of the game in May.

Here is other injury news we are tracking Tuesday:

    1. Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck will miss Tuesday's OTA session due to a calf strain. The issue isn't expected to be serious, and the team is just being cautious with the franchise signal-caller.

    2. Philadelphia Eagles head coach Doug Pederson confirmed quarterback Carson Wentz will be a full participant in OTAs.

Mahomes says he can toss 100-yard ball in Mexico City...

The Kansas City Chiefs head to Mexico City this fall to play at Estadio Azteca against the Los Angeles Chargers in mid-November. With the stadium sitting more than a mile above sea level, we've seen offenses take advantage of the high altitude in the past.

Joining the Pardon My Take podcast this week, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was asked how far he thought he could toss the pigskin in Azteca Stadium.

    "Probably 100 (yards)," Mahomes said.

When the hosts scoffed, the QB insisted with the altitude he could bomb the ball in the thin air.

"Yeah, I got to like 80, 83 in Denver and then you have to times it by two because it's like 2 miles above altitude," Mahomes said, via the Kansas City Star. "So I can handle the extra 20."

Estadio Azteca sits at a reported 7,280 feet above sea level, or about 1.4 miles. The Broncos stadium in Denver is at 5,280 feet, one mile.

Boasting one of the biggest arms in the NFL, there is little question that Mahomes could heave a lengthy bomb. Perhaps that proposed throwing contest with Josh Allen should take place in Mexico at some point.

In previous games in Mexico, we've seen defenses gassed thanks to the higher altitude, leading to offensive explosions. Mahomes won't need to bomb a football 80-plus yards to score. The reigning MVP could take advantage of the altitude in other ways to pad his stats.

After tossing 50 TDs in 2018, Mahomes isn't thinking about big numbers -- he's after championships. Asked how many touchdowns he'd toss in 2019, the QB quipped:

"Enough to win the Super Bowl," he said. "As many touchdowns as I can throw that will help us find a way to win the Super Bowl will be awesome."

i took a lot of shit yesterday from a buddy of mine on FB about the whole Jenkins thing. his stance is if the team can cut a player and not pay them, then the player can hold out for more money.

a few problems with that. Jenkins is not young anymore and no longer elite. he's being paid as the 9th best player in his position, when he was ranked 10th. there's your raise pal. and his speed is no longer elite, so he wants a raised based on what exactly ? because his peers make more? he feels he can hold out and not report to camp or OTA's bc he feels he's underpaid. blame yourself and agent for signing a deal that decreases your salary in the second half of the deal as you got older and they own you. they, the owner and team own you, not the other way around, so hell yes, they can cut your ass and not pay you. the players know this going in, so don't cry now about it. it's an ugly business, but the NFL allows it. bc they own you, they dictate the overall nature of the contract and justification of paying you. So that gives you the right to hold out ? that's what my friend's stance was - if the team can cut him, the player can hold out ? no he shouldn't be allowed to do that. i would fine his ass the moment camp starts and he's not there like teams do. these are OTA's, so it's optional, but come camp - fine his ass. and what does this say about his loyalty to the team ? he's looking out for himself. now my friend stated the team has no loyalty to cut him either. bullshit. they cut him based on his abilities. if they're declining or completely shot - why keep him ? the team has a salary cap to pay 53 men and build a TEAM the best way possible. Jenkins is lucky he has a job. Eagles could find someone cheaper and younger and cut Jenkins. WHo will pay him what the Eagles are paying him at his age ? Beats me.

i don't think the player has the leverage at all. the team does. you work for them. you're their employee.

You can be of the opinion that he shouldn't be paid more. You can outline the plan you'd follow if you were the team owner.

You cannot be upset at players for trying to get more money using whatever leverage is available to them. Teams do not have to honor contracts. Therefore, players should not unreasonably be held to a different standard.

to me he signed the contract. a contract should be binding. now the NFL is the only league that allows a player to holdout and not honor it, or the team to cut him outright and now pay him. they created this mess, so they can live with it.

  19. dlinebass5 M.V.P. Bears

Well, that's correct. So you shouldn't be mad. If you're mad at the player, you should be even more mad at the team and the league. Because of their practices, this situation is occurring. If contracts were guaranteed, and teams couldn't just cut guys, the contract structure in the league would be way different, and so would the behaviors of the players.
