Been thinking about that, and think it's a good move for the Browns. While Goff and Wentz are both seen as QBs who can be solid NFL starters, neither is viewed as an "elite" prospect. Beyond that, I don't see a team in the league more devoid of talent than Cleveland - I'd put them as the odds on favorite to have the #1 pick in 2017.
like i said bf Axe-i don't like the Eagles mortgaging their future by trading a lot of picks for the #2 pick if Wentz is gone. Like you said neither QB is viewed as elite, so it's a total risk of them doing this. If Cook from MSU is so QB pro ready, why not stay at 8, take someone else and get Cook later on as he's not projected in the first rd? Why sell the farm for Goff or Wentz?
Probably because of that dreaded "P" word, POTENTIAL. Saw the SI draft issue yesterday, and they list Wentz' comparable as Ben Roethlisberger. But I agree about Cook - wouldn't mind seeing Dallas take him Round 2. And I'm LOVING seeing teams move up to take a QB. All that means is a better chance for Dallas to grab Jalen Ramsey.
http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/eye-on...ould-include-1st-3rd-round-picks-in-2016-2017 Holy Shit! If the Eagles get the #2 pick, this is what it will cost them! This is franchise suicide!
I've read that in several places. I think they'll take a QB in Rounds 2 or 3. They add Cook (or Prescott) and possibly sign vet back-up Brian Hoyer, I'll feel a lot better about their QB situation.
Wow - if this is true and goes through, the Eagles get Wentz (who likely won't see much - if any - playing time for them in 2016), and then nothing until pick 100. Spectators on Day 2.
i see LA taking Wentz. I don't think they want Goff at #1. If the Eagles do this trade, either QB won't play for them till 2018 at the earliest unless Bradford's knee caves in! But to sit on day 2 and not draft is brutal and not what this franchise needs!
I think the opposite - Goff is more ready to play now than Wentz, and he's a California boy. Bradford's deal is structured so the Eagles can get out from under it next year.
Haven't heard the Steelers in connection with Hoyer. Seems like the Jets could be making a move for him...
well axe-i would be surprised to see goff at #1 but who the heck knows. i still think cook will be there in the 3rd rd for them, so why gamble so much when cook is probably as good as wentz?
well all depends on who is drafting and their needs. maybe the eagles sit at # 8 and trade 2 3rd rounders for a 2nd rd pick and take cook ? beats me. i want what is best for the team. NOT TRADING the future for the #2 pick.
oh damn axe. im sorry pal. cbs did a mock of all 7 rds (they need to get a life) and have cook going 31st to Denver. prescott to dallas in rd 3 and the eagles taking hackenberg in the 3rd at qb. shoot me now ! http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/...all-seven-rounds-including-team-by-team-picks
if cook is that pro ready, why not take him at #8 then for philly? why the urgency to go to #2 and lose picks?
In other QB news, Jon Gruden says he'd be "shocked" if Christian Hackenberg isn't drafted in the first round. Really...? I'll be shocked if he's drafted BEFORE round 3.
