BOSTON (AP) ? LeGarrette Blount's second stint with the New England Patriots will continue. The Patriots announced Tuesday they re-signed the 29-year-old veteran, extending a tenure that began in 2013 and resumed in 2014 following a brief stop in Pittsburgh that year. The Patriots also announced the signings of free agent defensive back Justin Coleman and safety Brandon King. Blount was having a solid season in 2015, rushing for 703 yards ? his most since 2013 ? and six touchdowns. But he was placed on season-ending injured reserve in December with a hip injury. Even with Blount's signing, the Patriots may take a running back in the upcoming draft.
From the 'No Brainer' File; The NFL has denied suspended Cleveland Browns receiver Josh Gordon's application for reinstatement. A league spokesman confirmed Tuesday that the application was denied and that Gordon can apply again at a future date. The decision puts Gordon's participation for the 2016 season in doubt. He was suspended for all of 2015 for testing positive for alcohol. On Monday, a person familiar with the situation told The Associated Press that Gordon "raised a red flag" because of a recent league-administered drug test. The person, who spoke on condition of anonymity because results of NFL drug tests are not made public, says Gordon didn't have a positive substance abuse test. But a sample collected in March showed Gordon had traces of marijuana and a diluting substance in his system. The level of marijuana was less than the minimum required by the NFL for a positive test. Cleveland's new front office has said little about Gordon, who applied for reinstatement in January. Last week, coach Hue Jackson said it was premature to talk about the former Pro Bowler because his situation had not been resolved. According to league policy, for Gordon to be reinstated he must demonstrate sustained abstinence during his suspension. His past includes several failed marijuana tests in college, too, at Baylor.
Arrest warrant issued for Rams' Tre Mason, missed court date HOLLYWOOD, Fla. (AP) ? A South Florida judge has issued an arrest warrant for Los Angeles Rams player Tre Mason, who was arrested last month on reckless driving and marijuana possession charges. Online court records show that Mason missed a Monday hearing in Broward County, prompting the arrest warrant. Police in Hollywood, Florida, say Mason refused orders to get out of his sports car on March 5 after he was pulled over for going twice the speed limit in a 35-mile-per-hour zone. Officers say they used a stun gun on Mason twice. He is charged with resisting arrest without violence, reckless driving, possessing less than 20 grams of cannabis and failure to register a vehicle. Court records listed no attorney. Emails to the Rams and Mason's agent seeking comment weren't immediately returned Wednesday night. Mason lives in Delray Beach.

well that ends the constant rumors of the eagles trading up to #1 to get wentz. im glad it didn't happen as the price to do so would mortgage the future of the team for years. so now it's probably elliot or maybe stanley at #8 if either is still there...
Wow, the Titans just traded the #1 pick to the Rams. Titans now get the 15th pick, two second round picks, a third round pick and a 1st and a third 2017 picks. Pretty good haul, I believe the Titans now have 4 picks in the top 73 of this draft...might get better in a hurry or might stay mediocre like the Rams did after their trade to the Redskins when RG3 was drafted
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) ? The Indianapolis Colts have re-signed tight end Jack Doyle and safety Akeem Davis. Both players were restricted free agents. The 6-foot-7, 267-pound Doyle grew up in Indianapolis and has seen his role increase in each of his first three seasons with the Colts. It could happen again after Coby Fleener wound up with New Orleans in free agency. Doyle has caught 35 passes for 209 yards and three touchdowns. Indy claimed Doyle off waivers from Tennessee after the undrafted rookie was released in 2013. Davis has one career tackle in 19 games and has played for four teams, including the Colts, who signed him during last season.
EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) ? The Minnesota Vikings have signed defensive end Jared Allen to a ceremonial one-day contract to allow the four-time All-Pro to formally retire as a member of the team. The Vikings made the announcement Thursday. Allen spent six of his 12 seasons with the Vikings, ranking third on the franchise's all-time list with 83? sacks. He finished his career in the Super Bowl with Carolina after being traded there by Chicago. Kansas City drafted Allen in the fourth round out of Idaho State in 2004. His 136 sacks are the ninth most in NFL history. Allen didn't miss a game for Minnesota, starting 96 regular-season contests and four playoff games. In 2011, Allen's 22 sacks finished a half-sack short of Michael Strahan's single-season record.
Percy Harvin is retiring from the NFL at the age of 27 Just a few years ago, the idea of Percy Harvin fading away from the NFL for good wasn't really even an idea. It certainly didn't seem like a real possibility. But, at the age of 27, Harvin will reportedly retire. ESPN's Adam Schefter first reported the news, which was quickly confirmed by multiple other reports. Harvin, a first-round pick of the Vikings in 2009, showed promise in his early years. In his Rookie of the Year season, he recorded 60 receptions, 790 yards and six touchdowns. With the Vikings through 2012, Harvin totaled nearly 4,000 yards from scrimmage and 24 offensive touchdowns. He also returned five kickoffs for touchdowns. And then injuries, namely to his hip and knees, consumed his career. After getting traded to the Seahawks before the 2013 season, Harvin played in just one regular-season game. He eventually returned and took a kickoff the distance in the Super Bowl to punctuate the Seahawks' championship, but he was never really the same electrifying player again. The Seahawks traded Harvin to the Jets in 2014. He wound up with the Bills in 2015. In total, from 2013-15, Harvin accumulated 951 yards from scrimmage and three offensive touchdowns. The Bills were willing to bring back Harvin for another season and, initially, Harvin was reportedly interested in returning, but he ultimately decided to step away from the game. A source told Pro Football Talk that Harvin is looking forward to "life after football." For as fast as a healthy Harvin played the game, the ending to his career managed to come even faster.

After medical recheck, LB Jaylon Smith expected to miss 2016 Notre Dame linebacker Jaylon Smith's medical recheck in Indianapolis didn't change the expectation that he will miss the entire 2016 NFL season. Many NFL clubs, however, expect the 2015 Butkus Award winner to return for 2017, according to NFL Media insider Ian Rapoport. Although teams are still reviewing the results of Smith's recheck, several sources informed of the exam told Rapoport his knee was much the same as it was when examined at the NFL Scouting Combine in February. Smith was expected to be a first-round draft choice until a gruesome knee injury in his final college game, against Ohio State in the Fiesta Bowl, put his draft status in question. The injury included nerve damage, which is one of the primary concerns regarding the length of time it will take him to recover. Smith has said doctors have told him he will fully recover eventually, but without a more clear timetable, NFL clubs could be reticent to invest a high draft choice in him. Before the injury, he was considered a sure top-10 pick who some believed would have competed for the top draft slot. (NFL.com)
ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP) ? Buffalo Bills backup defensive tackle Corbin Bryant has signed his qualifying offer. Bryant signed on Monday, shortly before the Bills opened their offseason voluntary conditioning program. He was a restricted free agent, whose rights were retained by the Bills last month, when they tendered him a one-year contract. Entering his fourth NFL season, Bryant proved his value last year in filling after Kyle Williams sustained a season-ending injury in Week 6. Bryant was credited with 45 tackles and six quarterback hits in 16 games, including 10 starts.
Attorney general's office reviewing fight involving McCoy PHILADELPHIA (AP) ? The Pennsylvania attorney general's office is reviewing a district attorney's decision not to charge Buffalo Bills running back LeSean McCoy in a Philadelphia nightclub fight that left two off-duty police officers injured. Solicitor General Bruce Castor said Monday that he met last week with detectives after getting a written request from the president of the police union in Philadelphia. Castor says that despite spending decades as a prosecutor, he wasn't aware of the rarely used review procedure. It requires approval from a judge to transfer the case from county prosecutors to the attorney general. Castor described the likelihood of that occurring as "pretty remote." Police say a fight broke out Feb. 7 over who had purchased a $350 bottle of Champagne. One officer suffered a broken nose and broken ribs.
Brian Hoyer is free to compete for a starting job in another NFL city. The Texans have released the veteran quarterback, NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported, via a source informed of the situation. Shortly after Houston handed the offensive reins to Brock Osweiler, Rapoport reported the organization and Hoyer were headed for an amicable divorce. Unable to find a trade partner, the Texans opted to set Hoyer free with the offseason program beginning on Monday. Hoyer posted a respectable 91.4 passer rating last season, while leading the Texans to five wins in ten games. It was evident, however, that he failed to gain the full trust of the coaching staff and front office. Benched three quarters into the first game of the season, Hoyer was on a short leash the rest of the way, overseeing an offense that was overly reliant on gadget plays. After Hoyer's meltdown in the Wild Card Round loss to the Chiefs, owner Bob McNair essentially mandated that he be replaced at quarterback. Rapoport told Dan Hellie of NFL Total Access late last month that Hoyer was expected to be on the Broncos' list of potential targets after losing Osweiler. In a holding pattern with free agent Ryan Fitzpatrick, the Jets are also believed to be interested. After 43 career games across six seasons, Hoyer has proven to be a high-end NFL backup. As long as teams are desperate for a quarterback, though, he will have the opportunity to compete for the QB1 role.
