That's fair. I just hate this idea that people try and paint him out to be a diva and a distraction and a bad guy and his teammates all say he is anything but those things.

All the good WRs have a 50/50 chance of being divas, what is it with that position?

    Earl Thomas to Baltimore.

What safeties are left? Way to blow it, Chicago. Overpaying Patterson, losing two defensive starters... Cool, cool...

  5. gidion72 Legend Steelers

The Ravens had to make a move, they lost too much.

They had a spot open with Weddle gone.

I wouldn't have wanted to sign Thomas. The price plus the injury concern wouldn't have sat well with me.

There are still some options there. Clayton Geathers wouldn't be a bad signing. They also have Deon Bush to plug in and could draft competition.

Ravens are also signing Mark Ingram.

4 years and 55 million for Earl Thomas.

Bears couldn't touch that with E-Jax eventually due for a massive raise.

Yeah, that would've been too rich for my blood. I don't think I'd have been opposed to the money, but the term would've done it. That, and with how limited a role the replacement ultimately needs to fill, it wouldn't have been worth the expenditure.

bww-that's what i was saying for Antonio Brown. He's a pain in the ass, but his baggage was worth it to me to acquire him for the EAgles over Aghulor and Jackson.

Yeah it's hard to pass up on that kind of raw talent and playmaking ability.

I don't understand this take. I've seen it quite a bit, while others say it was a good trade from both sides and yet a smaller group that can't believe the Browns traded for OBJ.

What is his "trade value" (1) first, (2) firsts, (3) firsts??

I felt what they gave up for him was right about what his value should have been. I don't think they overpaid and I don't think the Giants got fleeced.

Would have LOVED Thomas on Dallas. But when Landon Collins and the Honey Badger both got $14 mil per, it was going to be too cost-prohibitive. Dallas is looking at potentially big deals for Tank Lawrence, Dak, Zeke, Byron Jones, Amari Cooper, Jaylon Smith.

So few trades ever look even when they are done.

But I think this trade does at the moment. The Browns got what they needed and this aggressive trade fits where they currently are. They just went from a team that was up and coming and probably was going to be in most people's playoff discussion as a team that could go anywhere from 8-8 to 11-5. This trade and their other moves set them up as a division favorite and in all honesty a threat to make a massive leap from a non-playoff team to a title contender that I would assume we would now be shocked not to see in the playoffs next season.

The Giants direction at the moment is also expressed in this trade. They need a complete re haul and this trade shows that. And I think they got back good value for the guy.

I disagree that OBJ went "cheap." First round picks are valuable; throw in a 3rd AND a good young player who was drafted in the 1st round, and I think the GMen got a respectable haul.

Yeah you gotta pick your poison and be in a position to keep the guys you will need to keep.

Earl Thomas would have been scary on the Bears. But we have E-Jax at safety so penciling in someone next to him that can play in the box shouldn't be too difficult.
