Browns sign Kareem Hunt... At a time when the Bears seemed to be flirting with the possibility of adding running back Kareem Hunt, another team has beaten them to it. The Cleveland Browns have announced that Hunt has been signed to a contract. Drafted by the Chiefs when John Dorsey served as the team’s G.M., the man who has served as Browns G.M. for the last year now brings Hunt to Cleveland. “My relationship and interaction with Kareem since 2016 in college was an important part of this decision making process but we then did extensive due diligence with many individuals, including clinical professionals, to have a better understanding of the person he is today and whether it was prudent to sign him,” Dorsey said in a statement. “There were two important factors: One is that Kareem took full responsibility for his egregious actions and showed true remorse and secondly, just as importantly, he is undergoing and is committed to necessary professional treatment and a plan that has been clearly laid out. “We fully understand and respect the complexity of questions and issues in signing a player with Kareem’s history and do not condone his actions. Given what we know about Kareem through our extensive research, we believe he deserves a second chance but certainly with the understanding that he has to go through critical and essential steps to become a performing member of this organization, aside from what the NFL determines from their ongoing investigation. We fully understand that Kareem is subject to discipline by the NFL. Here at the Browns, there is a detailed plan with expectations laid out that he understands and must follow, because any similar incident will not be tolerated. We will support Kareem through this process and utilize our resources, however permitted, to help him become successful on and off the field as long as he continues to show the commitment necessary to represent this organization.” The NFL has not yet announced discipline on Hunt for multiple off-field incidents in 2018, including an assault of a female in Cleveland that was captured on video. The Chiefs abruptly cut Hunt after the video surfaced in November. Hunt was placed on the Commissioner Exempt list before his release, and he’ll likely resume that status in Cleveland. Once his punishment is issued, Hunt presumably will be permitted to participate in offseason workouts, training camp, and preseason games before the commencement of the regular season and the suspension that likely will go along with it. Yeah, I think Dorsey's relationship put the team front and center of candidates looking to sign him. I'm ultimately bummed that Chicago missed out. I think that, once the suspension is served and he's back on the field, the publicity of this issue will have gone away enough that there are no regrets in signing him for Cleveland.
i agree there. I had Cohen in FFB and he did well for me. Howard had a solid year as well. I also had Hunt, so his departure hurt until i was able to salvage a backup for him. I am with dline though as I wanted the Eagles to sign Hunt, so they missed out as well.
I have some doubts as to how Howard has and will continue to be used in the offense. I'm a huge fan of the guy, but Nagy will ultimately want a very specific set of weapons. Considering that he very recently had Hunt in his offense, it would make sense. If he puts Howard to full use, then I've got no qualms.
I think there’s a realistic possibility the Bears trade Howard and draft a guy in the mold of Hunt...there are a few RBs coming out that fit that description. I’m okay with them not signing Hunt. Hopefully he has turned it around but Chiefs were right to cut him and a young team with a solid locker room like the Bears have don’t need the distraction.
If you would be alright with a more athletic, Mark Ingram style of back, Elijah Holyfield might be that. He's sitting at the top of my rankings right now and I think he is being seriously undervalued.
Up until a couple days ago he was only getting discussion for bottom of the second. Today I've seen at least 4 people mention him as potentially a late first.
Looks like UGA has returned to its glory days as Running Back U. In five draft classes they've had Gurley, Michel, Chubb, and now Holyfield. Also Keith Marshall, who was drafted late by the Redskins but was seriously injured (twice) and never played.
ABC set to air two hours of the Scouting Combine... The Underwear Olympics are coming to network television. Bryan Curtis of The Ringer reports that ESPN will announce a deal with the league this week to put two hours of Scouting Combine coverage on ABC. ABC is also set to air coverage of the draft from Nashville in April and ESPN executive vice president of programming and scheduling referenced both deals in comments about the renewed strength of the company’s relationship with the NFL. “I think it’s in a wonderful place right now. You see it,” Magnus said. “It’s this draft deal. The combine deal. There were rumors we would not retain our wild-card game. The schedule we got from these guys for Monday Night Football last year. I feel like the NFL has responded to a new day at ESPN relative to the relationship.” The ABC coverage is expected to include quarterback and wide receiver workouts and the coverage team is set to include Trey Wingo and Mel Kiper Jr. among other familiar faces from ESPN. they are referring to the NFL combine as the Underwear Olympics as the players attempt many drills in tight shorts and basically underwear.

Must've been upset when the Browns signing Hunt took the spotlight off of him for a day, so he had to bring the focus back to him.
Also, the first day of the Combine (the weigh-in portion) actually has a segment where the prospects are paraded in front of the scouts, beauty pageant-style, so that the teams can see how fit they are. I think the term "underwear Olympics" started because of that.
