I don't think anyone assumes they would've scored a TD, at least I haven't seen that opinion. They could've taken 3 knees or 3 runs up the gut and taken the clock down to about 10 seconds following a chip shot FG. Yeah you could still have the what ifs, and as a Steelers fan who lived through that heart-wrenching 05 divisional game against the Colts you don't have to tell me that fumbles can happen in that situation. Still the odds are the Saints win that game if the penalty was called. True, once the OT started the Rams earned that victory, forcing a Brees INT on a play that the refs could've thrown a flag on as well. That play I'm glad they kept the flags in their pockets though, I thought the ball was tipped and negated the possible PI there. Might've been able to call holding or illegal contact, but that play was a perfectly acceptable non-call IMO. They won on a 57 yard FG which was anything but a gimme. Bottom line is Saints got screwed, but still had their chances to overcome it and didn't get the job done. Still not happy the refs played such a big role in determining both Championship games, but it is what it is.

Tell Cameron Jordan to quit whining about the Saints not benefitting from calls or non-calls from the refs. They were handed a week 16 victory from the refs which clinched the #1 seed. Also, his defense allowed the Rams to march down the field to tie the game when they had 1:40 on the clock with no timeouts.

and the saints blew a 13-0 lead to the Rams as well. A chip shot can be blocked (Cody Parkey) or the snap muffed like Tony Romo years ago in a game. Nothing is automatic.

All correct. Like I said, the odds are the Saints win with that call. Sure, the FG could've been blocked or a RB could have fumbled, but that is not likely.

    Chiefs fire Bob Sutton...

The Chiefs hoped to be getting ready for the Super Bowl this week, but they’ll be thinking about a new defensive coordinator instead.

The team announced on Tuesday that they have fired Bob Sutton. The news comes two days after the Chiefs lost 37-31 to the Patriots in overtime of the AFC Championship Game and one day after head coach Andy Reid stopped well short of ruling out a change at the top of the defensive coaching staff.

“Bob is a good football coach and a great person,” Reid said in a statement. “He played an integral role in the success of our team over the last six seasons. I’ve said before that change can be a good thing, for both parties, and I believe that is the case here for the Chiefs and Bob. This was not an easy decision, but one I feel is in the best interest of the Kansas City Chiefs moving forward.”

Given those reports, it’s no surprise that the Chiefs have made the move. It’s also not a surprise given the performance.

While the Chiefs were the top seed in the AFC, they ranked at or near the bottom of the league in many meaningful defensive categories and gave up more first downs than any team in history. With a potent offense, some of that could be swallowed but the Chiefs routinely failed to come up with stops when they needed them the most.

The Patriots’ game-winning touchdown drive saw them convert three third-and-10s stands as the most recent example and, perhaps, the one that sealed Sutton’s fate in Kansas City. (PFT)

And they slide a nice yellow envelope to the official that waited till Brady threw the actual pick before throwing the flag on Ford :)

What’s that yellow thing he throws into the air right after the snap, then?

He was way offsides...should close the book on that call. How did he not notice that? Watching it on tv I thought it was questionable, but that view shows he is offsides and it isn't even close.

I saw somewhere that he was lined up offsides multiple times during the game

He's lined up a half yard past the LOS. His shoulder pads look like they're across the line! If that is true he was lined up offsides multiple times and wasn't called I would hope none of those times were as bad...

Only thing I can think is maybe he kept inching forward until it just go so blatant it had to be called.

Probably right, but in that situation pretty dumb to line up that far over the line.

Nice view, i didn't see it from that angle, and the announcers didn't mention the flag till the pick. I stand corrected.

If you watch the defensive front in any game you will see both teams lined up in the neutral zone many times. Don’t know why the league doesn’t enforce it better, maybe so they can justify allowing holding on every play.

My guess just like holding they are instructed by the league to only call it when painfully obvious in order to keep the game moving.

Saints cornerback P.J. Williams was arrested early this morning in New Orleans on a driving while intoxicated charge, another in a growing list of driving offenses for Williams.

Williams booked for drunk driving and careless driving at about 1:10 a.m. and bonded out of custody three hours later, the New Orleans Advocate reports.

In 2014 Williams, then a starting cornerback at Florida State, drove his car into the path of an oncoming vehicle, totaling both cars, and fled the scene. He was driving with a suspended license at the time but was given only two traffic tickets by the Tallahassee Police, rather than a more serious criminal charge, leading to accusations that the local police were favoring football stars. In 2015 Williams, then a draft prospect, was arrested for driving under the influence in Tallahassee. Local authorities later dropped that charge, even though Williams admitted he “had a few drinks.”

The 25-year-old Williams was the Saints’ third-round draft pick in 2015 and has just completed his rookie contract, meaning he is set to become a free agent in March.

Williams started seven games in the regular season and both playoff games.

Larry Fitzgerald will play in 2019...

    Larry Fitzgerald is coming back.

The Cardinals announced today that Fitzgerald, their longtime star receiver, confirmed to the team that he will play a 16th season this year.

“No player has meant more to this franchise or this community than Larry Fitzgerald,” Cardinals owner Michael Bidwill said in a statement. “In my discussions with him, it was clear that he is as driven and passionate as ever. We are thrilled he’ll be back for 2019.”

Fitzgerald, who will turn 36 in August, has 1,303 catches for 16,279 yards and 116 touchdowns in his career. Although there’s been some talk that he could retire, especially given that the Cardinals are in the midst of a rebuild, new coach Kliff Kingsbury and team officials have made clear they wanted him back, and now they’re getting what they wanted. Feel bad he likely never wins a Super Bowl...Maybe the Cardinals become the Rams, worst to first. If they get an OL and a good pass rusher (Bosa #1) they have a shot. I feel like they have a lot of the needed pieces, just need to come together
