In Philly he was a victim of Chip Kelly's strict adherence to "measurables" - at 5'10 - 175 he didn't fit The Chipster's desire for big corners. Then, perish forbid, Boykin opened his mouth about trying to get more playing time, and we all know Chip won't tolerate players who don't buy into his approach lock, stock, and barrel.

Boykin outplayed Blake - badly - last year when given the opportunity late in the season. Wonder if the following has any merit:

Yea, it makes no sense, maybe he pisses the coaches off with his mouth or something. Why would 2 teams seem to want to get him off their roster. T. O. Was one of the best WRs in NFL history yet teams wanted him out after 2 seasons everywhere. I am not putting Boykin on TOs level ability wise or pain in the ass wise, just saying teams seem to want him gone.

He said he'd go back to Philly for the right money (with Chip now gone) but they already grabbed a bunch of corners and have a pretty good looking one they drafted last year to play the slot. But he got hurt early.

I believe I gave reasons for both teams.

If you can find anything that paints Boykin as a bad teammate or a struggle to deal with, let me know.

  5. gidion72 Legend Steelers

I didn't say he was a bad teammate, just that he possibly pisses coaches off.

  6. AxeMurderer Legend Cowboys

Anything is possible. I'd be more inclined to believe it if there were ANY rumors or stories attesting to that ANYWHERE.

There are reports by those who cover the team that early on Boykin didn't know the playbook and thus didn't know his assignments, and that he spent a lot of time on the field. Apparently on the field though meant on his ass or backside. He appeared to do well when he got on the field but there are some who said his technique was flawed. Take what you will from it but the Eagles we eager to trade him and the Steelers made no attempt to sign him (granted part of that has to do with not needing a second slot CB).

  8. AxeMurderer Legend Cowboys

Don't know how much time he could have possibly spent on his backside when the number of snaps he played per game in the first 2/3 of the season could be counted on one hand.

One thing we do know... the Panthers clearly see something they can work with in Boykin.

As good as Carolina's defense was last year, they had depth issues in the secondary. Bet Boykin fits in very well with Sean McDermott.

I suppose if anyone can steer Boykin in the right direction and get the best out of him, its McDermott.

ALLEN PARK, Mich. (AP) ? The Detroit Lions have signed guard Geoff Schwartz.

The team made the move Wednesday, adding a player with starting experience to bolster its depth on the offensive line.

Schwartz started 11 games last year for the New York Giants before breaking his left leg, ending his season.

Bengals agree to deal with WR Brandon LaFell

After losing two receivers in free agency, Cincinnati landed a wideout with a 70-plus catch season under his belt.

The Bengals reached an agreement with receiver Brandon LaFell, NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reports, per the player's agent.

LaFell was released last month by the New England Patriots after a dreadful 2015 campaign that saw him catch just 37 passes for 515 yards with the sixth-most drops in the NFL. While he was supposed to provide the Pats a deep threat, Tom Brady deep to LaFell became one of the least efficient plays in the league last year.

Despite the wayward year, LaFell is just one season removed from a 74 catch, 953 yard, seven touchdowns season. With Marvin Jones and Mohamed Sanu exiting for big money, the Pats needed a veteran to pair with A.J. Green. The Bengals pray they are getting the 2014 LaFell -- not every other season of his six-year career.

You mean the Bengals needed vet.

In 92 career games, he has 279 tackles, four interceptions and two forced fumbles.

Harvin definitely playing in 2016; at least three teams interested

The question is whether he will return to the Buffalo Bills, as general manager Doug Whaley recently intimated.

Harvin is definitely planning to play this season, NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported Wednesday, via a source close to the player. At least three teams have been in contact with the wide receiver's camp, Rapoport added. (NFL.com)

They were referring to the fact in practice he kept ending up on his backside.

Bears agree to 1-year contract with OL Ramirez

LAKE FOREST, Ill. (AP) ? The Chicago Bears have agreed to a one-year contract with former Detroit Lions and Denver Broncos offensive lineman Manny Ramirez.

The 6-foot-3, 325-pound Ramirez played for Bears coach John Fox in Denver. He has appeared in 83 games with 65 starts over eight seasons with the Lions (2007-09 and '15) and Broncos (2011-14).

He played in all 16 games for Detroit last season, starting three games at right guard, two at left guard and two at center. In his career, he has started 26 games at center, 24 at right guard and 15 at left guard.

The Bears announced the agreement Wednesday night.
